We live just around the corner & are about for help with local interest or restaurant / pub recommendations. We are also around for help with anything that people need.
The neighbourhood is full of lovely restaurants and pubs, music & sporting venues, and has great & easy access to town and the transport network around the UK. West Bridgford has lots of parks and open green areas as well as river walks down the Trent.
Grab a bite, drink, & evening entertainment...
Head down to Central Avenue and there is no end in choice of places to eat, whether it be for a bite, a drink, or something more substantial. There are cafes and bars where service continues all day and into the evening, such as Belle & Jerome, or Copper Bar Café (including yummy breakfast/brunch!). You’ll often find people relaxing on the chairs outside (when the sun shows itself!). Equally, there is Fire & Ice, The Monkey Tree and The Oriental Pearl/Pearl Bar which transform into a vibrant social scene during the evening. There is always the option of beginning your night in West Bridgford and then catching a bus, outside Fire & Ice for example, into Nottingham where you can explore the nightlife further. If you fancy a calmer evening, West Bridgford has a number of restaurants to offer. What do you fancy? Something laid back, and tasty? Head to Pizza Express or Mud Crab, with a mixture of Australian and American influences behind the menu: you can’t miss it – the impressive glass building on Central Avenue. Carluccio's has also recently arrived in West Bridgford! Perhaps you fancy tapas? Head to escabeche, situated opposite Pizza Express. Alternatively, head to the opposite end of Central Avenue, towards Trent Bridge and you’ll find The Larwood & Voce, or The Riverbank Bar & Kitchen – exceptional food food and again, should you fancy it, evening entertainment.
Or fancy a night in? There are plenty of takeaway options: Rectory Fish Bar does especially delicious Fish and Chips.
If you feel like cooking, there are a number of food shops, including Marks & Spencer, or even closer to you, the good-old reliable Co-op, and for a treat later, pop into Thorntons for all your ‘sweet-tooth’ cravings!
Wander around the shops…
If shopping is your forte, West Bridgford has a number of unique shops which you can’t find anywhere else! Drop into Delights for a range of gifts – or treat yourself – why not! There are also some clothing stores, including footwear shops, all close-by to Central Avenue. Also, for all your daily health and pharmacy needs, there’s Boots, for book-lovers there are book shops, for a bargain, there are charity shops and if you are in need of some pampering, an array of salons to choose from.
You’re in luck. West Bridgford is host to Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. Or if football is more your thing, there’s both Nottingham Forest Football Club AND Notts County Football Club at your doorstep.
Outdoors or indoors, there are a number of places you can go – whether for something gentle, or something to really get you heart pumping.
•Holme Pierrepont – including water rapids, canoeing and other exciting outdoor activities.
•West Bridgford Park – including tennis courts, or for a gentle stroll. There are also pretty gardens and a play area for children.
•River walk along the embankment. Cross the ‘rickety rackety’ bridge – but don’t look down!!
•Rushcliffe Arena (without swimming pool).
•David Lloyd Leisure, Roko Health clubs (both with pools).
On offer at all clubs such as these are games such as badminton, squash and so on (book your court beforehand).
If you happen to go to any of the local places, feel free to mention that we recommended them! That way we can continue to work together with local businesses in supporting each other! ☺
Head into Nottingham and there is plenty more to choose from, again, depending on what you feel like – shopping, cinema, clubs, bars, restaurants, cafes, tenpin bowling, and so on – and easily accessible by bus, or there are car parks if you’d prefer to drive.
Hopefully this information has been helpful. If you have any other queries regarding anything during your stay please do get in contact and we’ll be happy to help in any way we can! ☺
Great location with all your needs just a stones throw away - it is a town which has something for everyone. Popular, yet relaxed and very close to the city centre, though you would not be able to tell - lots of greenery to enjoy!
With that said, there’s one final thing to say… ENJOY!!
Excellent transport links. It takes only 5-10 minutes to reach the centre of Nottingham by bus with buses being very regular. 'Green line' buses - numbers (phone number hidden), and 11, will take you to and from Nottingham city, via Trent Bridge and the Train Station. You can find all timetables for these, and the option to plan your route, at the nctx website.
Easy access to Nottingham train station within 5 minutes taxi ride, or 20 minutes from East Midlands Airport.
Other Things to Note
Our buses have the oddity of taking correct change only! Save your change for them - they are well worth it , very frequent and handy but get expensive if you keep having to use notes! £2.00 one way, £3.50 day ticket and sometimes - like weekend and holidays you can get cheap day family tickets for 2 adults and 2 kids for as little as £4.50.
No Smoking or pets. Please be respectful, have fun, and ask if there's anything that you need from us.
Katie kindly provided a highchair for our 9 month old son and emailed us a great 'welcome' pack detailing restaurants and supermarkets in the area, along with transport options etc. It was very helpful. West Bridgford was a great area to stay in. Katie was very easy to deal with & sending around a few extra towels was no problem at all either.
The apartment was great. The best bit about it was the fantastic location in West Bridgford- literally a stone's throw from Trent Bridge, and another couple of hundred yards from the City Ground.
Katie's communications were excellent and she made sure we had everything we needed. The key was available in a drop box outside the apartment which meant we could arrive whenever we wanted (great when you're really disorganised!)
Thanks for a great stay!
What a brilliant stay for my parents who came to visit the area . Katie welcomed them, gave some great tips about the area and they have loved staying in the flat. West Bridgford is such a great place for all ages .. Cool bars , sophisticated restaurants a great atmosphere during the day and loads going on .
We needed to find accomodation in Nottingham with two days notice and fortunately this pad was available. Katie was very prompt in her responses and we were fully prepared for the locality with all the information on her web page. She texted me the details of the key code in advance so we were able to get in without having to call her out (although she insisted this wouldn't be a bother).
The accomodation was exactly as described and ictured and it was great to be able to unpack our chopping, make a cuppa, and prepare our breakfasts in the mornings. Everything we needed was there. Internet access was easy and the tv fine. I noticed in a previous review that the bed was uncomfortable. Well, Katie must have changed it as promised because we found it very comfortable. The shower was very good.
Overall, a perfect place for us that met our needs and expectations, gave us complete freedom and well worth the very reasonable price. Would stay here again.
What a fabulous apartment and a great host. We arrived at the apartment to be greeted by Katie who couldn't of been more welcoming and helpful. She went through everything to make sure we knew how you use all the appliances and that we had everything we needed for our short stay even down to pointing out the best places to eat and drink. The apartment itself was better than the pictures very modern with good quality furniture and fittings all spotlessly clean and surprisingly although very close to the cricket ground and all the local amenities extremely quiet and peaceful. A great nights sleep was had and we will be definitely using Katie again. Highly recommend.
Katie answered all my questions promptly, was available on the phone even at 10pm at night and provided lots of useful information about the area. Felt like I was moving into a friend's flat.
The host was great. She left us a book (and email) describing events in the local area and all necessities relating to the flat and our needs. We had a young baby and she left a travel cot and high chair (even though our daughter was too young yo use it)! The gesture and proactivity was very much appreciated. The property was very clean and well looked after. There were a few very little things that needed attention but barely worth mentioning. However the host took our phone calls and was very accessible throughout our stay.

About the Host, Katie
I'm a Londoner in Nottingham - it's a fabulous place. It's the theatre that I love, and being in the middle of a community full of precious gems, characters and fun.
I like to make sure that people enjoy their stay & get as much help as they want from me, if that's lots of local guidance about outdoor amenities and restaurants and entertainment and I recognise that some people just want to come away and relax on their own.
I have enjoyed helping people with ideas for cooking in or for eating out, for local walks and bike rides and for helping people to settle into the area when they are relocating.
