Redfern is a large suburb with a colourful history and reputation. Today it has developed into a fairly trendy area with a very diverse population. As one of our neighbours likes to say - "this is the Paris end of Redfern" - wide, tree lined streets, numerous cafes, coffee bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Excellent city access. Easy, pleasant walk through Moore Park to Sydney Cricket Ground / Football Stadium and the Fox Studios entertainment centre. The magnificent Centennial Park is about a 15 to 20 minute stroll away.
There is a very large Coles Supermarket (open 7am to midnight 7 days) and an Aldi store open till 8pm just 200 metres away
Several bus routes to the city and beyond are but 200 metres away. It is usually much cheaper to buy pre-paid tickets (some buses are only pre-pay services). These tickets can be purchased just across the road.
Nisha and I are in our late sixties but still 'young at heart' and have no specific house rules. All we ask is that you respect our home.
We generally do not smoke in the house but you are welcome to do so on the balcony to your room or on the patio.
Norman was a great host - very helpful and friendly. The room and bed was very comfortable and his place is conveniently located - big supermarket outside, within walking to the cool cafes and shops of Surrey Hills
The room is very spacious and comfortable. Good to have own bathroom and television. The site is very convenient for daily life, business, and sightseeing. Norman and her wife Nisha are caring, respectful, and considerate, and more….We really enjoyed our one month stay with them.
The room is better than on the pictures, with a small balcony. We were in Sydney for an overnight stay, but Norm and Nisha were gracious enough to let us in at 6.30 am. Very nice suburb and close to the airport. Both Norman and Nisha were very helpful. V r definitely going to come back to 841 Bourke St if available. Thanks Norm and Nisha
Norman and Nisha were great hosts and I would highly recommend their room to anyone planning a visit to Sydney to get a real experience of living in the city. The location is wonderful, not too far from the airport, the SCG or downtown, which is a very nice 20 minute walk through the Surry Hills neighborhood with all its cafes, galleries, parks and restaurants. The room itself is spacious and makes you feel at home. Will book their room (if available) in a heartbeat the next time I'm in the city!
Norman was so friendly and helpful. He explained all our public transport options and that really helped us get on track. The room was just as it shows on the photos. Its on a main street which was a little noisy but that is only to be expected for a place which has such easy access to restaurants, cafes, transport and beautiful shops. The privacy of the place was wonderful and Norman was continually helpful and friendly and made us feel completely comfortable. It was an absolute pleasure to have met him. We felt cared for.
