This fabulous house is filled with character, warmth and unique style; not to mention a wonderful sun soaked backyard garden & BBQ space! It's situated in the heart of Halifax, only a short walk from all the cities best restaurants & attractions!
is Century old, Victorian character home on Jubilee Rd, sits within a beautiful and very desirable residential area. It provides quiet and charm, but also the convenience of it’s centralized location, leaves you a short walk away from many desired points of interest and city conveniences’. I lovingly restored this house after purchasing it in 2009, and my main objective was to keep the old style character intact, but introduce enhancements that create added convenience and a unique blending of modernized appeal with old style tradition. The restoration of all the window and doorway trim work and staircase has kept the authenticity of its original design, and the refinished birch hardwood flooring sets it all off. The walls are painted colorful eclectic hues that add vibrancy and warmth to the home, and beautifully showcase the artwork hung throughout. The kitchen – one of my favorite and most utilized areas in the house, has been entirely redone; consisting of a top quality gas range, steel appliances, hand crafted cabinetry, and granite counter tops; all comprising a thoughtfully constructed layout, complete with bar top seating adjoined to the appointed dinning area, perfect for socializing and taking in the enjoyment of cultivating great meals. There are upper and lower level bathrooms; both entirely refitted, and the upstairs boasts a creatively tiled, large open concept dual head shower, and antique cast-iron soaker tub. There are 3 upstairs bedrooms; two with Queen beds and another, which is a double. The home features updated fixtures and hardware throughout; complete with dimmer switch ambiance lighting, which adds to the cozy appeal. The laundry room has also been redone, and consists of large custom cabinetry storage and brand-new Samsung front-loading washer and dryer. This vintage home lies in the heart of Halifax in a highly sought after real estate sector on the Halifax Peninsula, near all the attractions of the downtown core. Historic landmark’s, shops and amenity conveniences, hospitals, universities, and public parks, the ocean!!, gardens and green space are all as close as a 5 minute walk away, and a plethora of local beaches and hiking trails, are only a short distance away by car. The backyard of my home offers up a spacious, and enchanted garden space with comfortable sitting area amidst an array of wildflower and perennial beds, as well as a fire pit for casual enjoyment, and BBQ, for your culinary delights. The southwest facing position of the home ensures you copious amounts of sunlight, as well as warmth to enjoy throughout the day, but with enough openness to allow for breezes to flow.
In the 5 years since acquiring this home, I have not only been rewarded through my personal enjoyment from it but I’ve also operated my successful 8 year old massage therapy practice from a studio attachment; accessible from both a back garden entrance, or from a descending staircase off the kitchen. This addition serves wonderfully as a home office space or additional south facing sitting/common area, complete with a mudroom & porch entryway, adjoined with a pocket sliding door separating the two, and with the second bathroom located in this addition as well.
The rental comes fully furnished and includes all utilities (heat/elec/internet/water). There is parking for two vehicles, though be forewarned, it’s a narrow opening. Sorry, no cable – but I have all the adapters available for you if you enjoy downloading entertainment from the Internet. All I ask is that you leave the house as you found it. Spruced up, clean, and well arranged. And be sure to enjoy yourself, in the comfort it provides!
**Cleaning charge extra - $90.
Guests are welcome to enjoy all the features of the house to their delight! With booking my rental on this site, you're committing to booking the entire home and so with that you may enjoy everything that this fabulous spot has to offer. Summer-time guests have the added benefit with the nice weather, of enjoying a whole other extension of my home - the back yard! It's south facing, and I love to garden, so the whole setting in the back garden is serene and peaceful. Hard to believe isn't it, seeing as though I'm so close to downtown Halifax? You'll see! :)
Meigan - the home owner, will be there to welcome you when you arrive, and if it happens that she's unable to meet you because she's away on travels, then she'll make sure that her property manager & close friend Rebecca is there to greet you, show you around the home, and provide you with the keys.
This neighbourhood stands alone because you have the perfect blend of being centrally located and close to all points of interests and conveniences, while still offering numerous public green spaces, as close as a block away! There is the historic landmark, Citadel Hill only a 10 minute walk away, Dalhousie and St. Mary's University are both within a few blocks radius, and in the winter time the public outdoor skating rink, "The Oval" is only a 10 minute walk away. For runners or people who enjoy a brisk walk to stay fit during your travels, there is the most incredible public green space with walking trails along the waterfront, called Pt. Pleasant Park. You can essentially leave from my front door, and walk within one green space to another, until you find yourself at this most southern tip of the Halifax Peninsula, where Pt. Pleasant Park is located. Not to mention all the cities best restaurants, local produce markets and grocery stores are all within a 15min walk away as well!
A main city bus stop is on the same block as the home. Call Casino taxi for a cab and they'll be there in a flash! (phone number hidden)

We rented Meigan's house for a week over Christmas. It was a great experience. Meigan was out of town and Rebecca was our contact. Rebecca met us at the house with the keys and gave us any information we needed. She checked in with us a couple of times during the week to make sure all was o.k. We had all the comforts of home. The parking space is just as stated - small. Our midsize sedan was a very tight fit with all the snow around. It would be extremely difficult if you had two cars to deal with. The kitchen was well equipped. We used it everyday for light meals and even cooked the majority of Christmas dinner there. In 12-15 minutes you could walk downtown, 6 minutes to the outdoor Oval for skating, 6 minutes for groceries. The location was perfect for us. If a home away from home is what you are looking for, don't hesitate to book Meigan's house.
Fantastic place! I don't think we could have asked for a better place to spend our weekend in Halifax. Walking distance to Spring Garden shopping, Citadel, the Harbor and much, much more. The home is beautifully restored and situated on a vibrant and beautifully treed street. When we actually rested this was the perfect place for some down time. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to visit Halifax. Meigan is a terrific host.
We were delighted with Meigan's house in Halifax. Everything was exactly as advertised (even the narrow parking spot- don't bring a large vehicle).
There was plenty of room for our family of four, with our boys each able to have there own room. The living and dining room were great places to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The kitchen was well equipped and laundry was convenient to have.
We enjoyed morning coffee in the cute backyard, complete with daily visits from Cuddles, the neighbour's cat.
Meigan was easy to arrange things with and Emily was very helpful, communicative and had everything ready for us when we arrived.
The house was clean and in a great location for touring Halifax and was a great home base for touring neighbouring towns and even a few further away trips like whale watching and tidal bore rafting on the Shunenacadie River.
Overall, we were very pleased!!!
This house is beautiful, clean and with graceful touches throughout. Though I never met Meigan, she did provide a contact person if we were in need of assistance. She was quick and helpful with information.
Conveniently located and close to downtown.
Beautiful home. Very clean and comfortable. Walking distance to downtown and the universities. The person who met us for check-in was very helpful and made herself available to us for any questions we had throughout the week. A great experience and the perfect place for us to stay during our wedding week. Highly recommended.
