A great apartment in a perfect location in Barcelona. Close to everything in the city centre and also a supermarket just downstairs if you need anything quickly. As many others have said the street outside was noisy during the night, but it was all ok with us when we closed the window.
We met Juna's friend Mariana who was nice and friendly even though we did not meet her more than once since we only stayed for a couple of days. However, we have missed that there was another room for rent at the same time so we got a bit surprised when we noticed that two other girls lived in the apartment as well. This was not a problem at all though, since these girls were really nice and we also went to party together. It could just have been good to know that there were more rooms available before renting the apartment.
Overall, we are very satisfied with this Barcelona stay and the apartment!
I had a very pleasant stay at Juna's apartment though I didn't actually get to meet her but her friend (Mariana) whom was housesitting was very friendly and hospitable throughout my stay. The flat was relatively clean, though the kitchen and fridge could have used a good clean… As picked up in other comments, the flat is situated in a nosier part of the gothic area but with that said, I still enjoyed staying at this flat as the location is super convenient and you do get to experience the bustling, raw and rustic charm of Barcelona! I do recommend others to stay here but be careful staying here in summer as there isn't AC so the room would most likely get quite hot.
The neighborhood is a great location to explore the city, very lively and great nightlife. However, that's also the reason why it's very noisy at night, and the apartment is located in the noisiest street of the El Born quarter.
Our main problem with the apartment was that it was not clean at all (especially the bathroom). The stand-in for Juna, Mariana, was very nice but not really interested in taking care of her guests. As we stayed for over 2 weeks, we could monitor this over a longer period of time and during our stay not even once was there any attempt made to get the apartment in a better condition. We were not expecting perfection, but the tidiness of the apartment was way below normal standards.
The verdict: excellent location (although noisy), but way too dirty. Therefore, I can't recommend this apartment.
Stayed for 1 week in Sept 2014.
The flat is really nice and bright and really well located right in the middle of El Born neighbourhood with lots of restos, bars around. Walking distance from most major attractions (Gaudi sites) and from the beach. Close to metro: Jaume I.
The room was quite hot at night so we used the fan provided.
(Those needing quiet for sleep should note that this room faces onto a busy street, so can be loud during the night - but wasn't a problem with earplugs for us)
Overall would recommend the flat, the location is perfect and Mariana (Juna's friend) was very nice to us.
*The host was traveling when we were there so I have no idea what the flat is like when she is there. A friend substituted for her who was friendly but wasn't that informative as to good places to go for food, nightlife, etc. *The neighborhood is full of friendly people, beautiful architecture, lively, noisy, charming, convenient to shopping and public transportation. *The flat while structurally charming didn't really meet the description accurately, when we were there it was: in need of repairs; dirty (floors needed to be mopped, mold on the walls, the drain in the shower wouldn't drain until I pulled a large long clog of dark hair out of it, surfaces felt greasy to touch); the room was very small maybe 9 feet by 9 feet; very hot and humid did not have air conditioning, a fan was only available part of the time; the room is on the street side which is extremely noisy (people shouting at each other, big trucks loading and unloading) until 4 or 5 in the morning but closing the windows made the room unbearable due to the heat and humidity and the fan wasn't always available. *We weren't informed that it would be better to drink bottled water as the tap water in Barcelona comes from a salty river and is full of minerals that are hard on the digestive system, I had to stay in the room for a couple of days until that all got it out of my system. *The steepness and the number of stairs to get to the flat should be mentioned to potential renters, as we are in Europe for 8 months we each had a large bag and a carry-on that made negotiating the stairs difficult and almost dangerous. *We were booked for 5 days but went to a hotel after a few days. We left out big bags there and came back for them the day before our rental agreement expired. We called to make arrangements with Juna's friend to come back for the bags when she would be there so we could get back the $50 key deposit. She told me on the phone when she would be there. When we got there she had left us a note saying to leave the keys on the table in the dinning area and that she didn't have the money and that we needed to get it from Juna. That's been 2 weeks and we have not received key deposit refund. I did contact Juna about the key deposit refund but she has not contacted me. The way the key deposit interaction has been handled makes me feels like I've be scammed out of the $50.
Great location near the Barrio Gotico, near all the main touristic places. Juna was not here when we travelled in Barcelona so we meet her friend Marianna. I was hoping to share more time with her at least to know some good places to go to drink or to eat something but we didn't have this chance. The flat is exactly like on the pictures and it is really fresh. It was clean and we could use all the facilities. I recommand this flat to everyone who want an amazing place to stay in Barcelona.
