The Space

Enjoy an antique atmosphere in the heart of culture and art in downtown Seoul. Be our guest and make yourself at home. Make your travels in Korea more special than ever!

126 Mansion is a Guesthouse which is located in Palpan-dong(aka Samchung-dong), the centre of culture and art, in downtown Seoul.

Palpan-dong is just around the corner from Gyungbokgung, the first royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty. This place has been at the very centre of the Capital city of Korea since the old days of the royal dynasty; in this area, eight Panseos(Ministers of the Joseon Dynasty) used to reside here hence where Palpan-dong(an eight-Panseos’ village) got its name.

Within a 3-minute walk from our Guesthouse, you can see a variety of galleries, shops and cafes in a busy street. Han-ok Maeul (Korea’s traditional house village) is within a 10-minute walk. It is about 5 to 30 minute walk to Seoul’s most famous historic sites such as Gyungbokgung, Changdukgung, and Deoksugung. Also you can get to Myung-dong, Dongdaemun and Namdaemun markets, and Gwanghwamun square.

Equally, we are proud of the picturesque surroundings of the 126 Mansion. Just beside our Guesthouse, there is a beautiful promenade of the stone wall of Gyungbokgung leading to Cheongwa-dae (the Blue House).

126 Mansion is a high-class Guesthouse providing comfortable, spacious living. Our guest house is situated with a nice view so that you can see Gyungbokgung and Cheongwadae. Guests can also expect excellent service in our relaxing dining room and experience a fine example of modern day living in a traditional space. We will welcome you with exclusive hospitality.

  • Friendly place to stay in Seoul, away from the buzz in a quiet and beautiful neighbourhood! We never got tired of walking around the place, where you can find a wide array of small cafés and restaurants. It's really close to all attractions in Seoul and it feels like home. It was great to meet Hyunchung and her family and we felt very welcomed. They have good tips for places to see and where to eat. The room was convenient with all necessary amenities. Free internet connection and good breakfast available. Thanks for hosting us!

  • My 1st airbnb experience and it was amazing! :)

The house was great, clean, homey, warm, strategic location, surrounded by beautiful autumn scenery and the hosts were incredible.
Although I didn't have a chance to meet with Hyunchung, but her sisters were great, very friendly and always ready to help us with anything...

I highly recommend this place and definitely would love to come back...

Thank you Hyunchung and family for the great experience!

  • Hyunchung and the entire staff and family at 126 Mansion were fantastic hosts. They are warm and friendly. The cafe is a great place with a must try breakfast and it helps that they select the other guests to also be such interesting and nice people that you can strike conversations with and build friendships.
I only stayed in the big house for one night. The room was on the small side, but very clean and tidy. I just wish it had a view and larger window. Overall, a good experience made better by such a fantastic neighborhood and good hosts.

  • I stayed the second time with Hyunchung and her family and it was as great as the first time. I've felt very welcomed since the moment I first entered their café/guesthouse. The room is clean as well as the little bathroom and the bed (mattress) very comfortable. The best part (in winter) is probably the enjoyable floor heating! From (phone number hidden) in the morning breakfast is served downstairs in the café. You can choose between western and Korean breakfast ("hanshik") and I can fully recommend the Korean breakfast even if you are not used to salty or warm breakfast. Try it out, it is unbelievable tasty! The location of the place is very well suited for sightseeing, having two palaces as well as an artsy area with a lot of cafés and boutiques reachable by foot.

If you want to see more from Seoul than just the main attractions and shopping streets, then 126 Mansion is the right place to be. You will meet many interesting and friendly people in the café and Hyunchung and her sister will always give you recommendations where to go and what to see. Thank you for your hospitality and your patience with my travel plans! Until the next time, in Seoul or Europe!

  • 126Mansion is located in a very chill and artsy place and they are right to say it is very safe as i there are police officers guarding outside 24/7. Although it is a 10 mins walk from the subway, you get to walk through the alleys of little designer shops and cafes. As i was a first timer in Seoul and also travelling alone, the hosts are really nice to ask about my day and also offer help as much as they can. It was good to think that i could return to a cosy place, especially during the cold winter. Not forgetting the korean breakfast every morning, they are indeed delicious! All in all, I loved this place and would most defintely return when i can. :)

  • Incredible kindness and also realness at this unique and beautiful family home/hotel guest house/restaurant cafe. Its sincere, charming and masterfully welcoming proprietors have a home business, or business home, which gives guests not only a private, clean, and cozy place to stay and live, but more importantly to a foreigner knowing no one, access to the cultural hub of their house's lobby/cafe/main floor. It was an awe to see this family's architectural feat of combining their own lives with their multiple businesses. They carry it off with immense kindness and hospitality that seems second nature.

    Great breakfast too.

About
Hello, greetings from 126Mansion in Seoul. My two sisters and I have all worked in the art industry; my older sister is a clothing designer, my younger sister likes to paint although she is not a professional painter; and interestingly some of her better paintings are on display in our house. She truly has many gifts, she is a barista and also cooks very well. She runs our coffee shop on the first floor. Finally, as for me, I have worked in the Korean film industry. In 2009, on one fine autumn day, we found this house (126Mansion) in a wonderful area. As soon as seeing it, we fell in love with it. At the time, the location of our house had been empty for some time and was more like a ghost house. However, we could imagine just how lovely could be if we renovated it. Immediately we loved the neighborhood, it’s very historical and also very modern and safe, clean, and no large apartments, and of course lots of good places in within walking distance. This area is known as Samcheong - dong. We decided to make this house a home for travellers, opening up this house to and for people from all over the world. Generally speaking, people who visit Seoul they think Seoul is kind of shoppers paradise and that’s all, and not really so historical, not so cultural, but it’s not true. If you would stay this area, you will be able to discover many amazing points of interest. I really hope people who visit Seoul experience the various sides of Seoul, and have a true traveler’s delight. We have great passion for communicating with new people, especially who are curious about Seoul, and Korea. Upon your arrival here in our home we can recommend some really nice places, ones not really known as traditional tourists’ spots. That would be our pleasure. Please, don’t hesitate to talk to us. Lastly, I want to introduce to you my mom. She is an older lady but even in this chapter of her life, still very passionate and healthy, and of course a great cook. Early in the morning she prepares a Korean breakfast for our guests like you. I am so proud of my mom and her food. If you would like to try Korean food, please don’t miss my mom’s food. We are looking forward to meeting you, all of you wonderful travelers from all over the world. Hyunchung
