Yure was amazing! He went above and beyond in helping make this trip wonderful. My grandmother fell at a market, and needed stitches. Yure picked her up from the local hospital, translated between us and the doctors and brought her up to our room. He also brought us to a local shop that sold beautiful baby alpaca sweaters etc. The prices were a little expensive for Peru but the quality was impeccable and the experience amazing. He also organized our trek/trip to Machu Picchu through his company, which was very convenient!
The rooms are simple and clean. The weather in Cusco is quite cold at night, and the floors are tile, so bring good thick socks (or better yet, buy some alpaca slippers!) And ask for extra blankets.
Also, the water is pumped through an apparatus on the roof. This system seems fairly common because from the roof (beautiful views!) You can see mini-water towers on most of the other houses across the city. It's not an issue at night when very little water is being used, but is definitely audible during the day.
Two things to note: 1) the house is next to an open garage (it used to be a basketball court, but now many cars get parked there at night). This is important because all cars in Peru "beep" as they are backing up (like large trucks in the US) so parallel parking can be somewhat loud. This was only really an issue on Fridays and Saturdays. During the week, all the cars were put away relatively early, but on the weekend this happened late at night and there were more likely to be car alarms going off early in the morning. 2) the house is on a very steep hill (one of the steepest we found in Cusco), so even though the walk to plaza de armas was safe and easy (no more than 20 minutes walking, or ~5 soles in a taxi) the last block of uphill was challenging, especially for anyone with bad knees.
the location is a little far from the downtown area, but it's only $10/night and very cheap to get to by cab. the rooms got very cold at night, but the blankets were warm, its just when you get out of bed in the morning it's a little uncomfortable.
otherwise, Yure was very accommodating and also helped us plan several additional tours around Cuzco and the south of Peru. would definitely recommend Yure as a travel agent for any of your tours in Peru
A very nice fully equipped apartment. Well furnished and clean. Good hot water. Yure was very helpful with information about not only Cusco but all of Peru too.
The location is a very long walk to city center, about 20 minutes. I generally walked into centro and took a cab for 4 soles back.
Options for eating are very limited within several blocks. Also, no breakfast was provided.
I would stay here again and reccomend it to others that are not concerned with being close in to the city center.
Yure´s place is perfect! You get your own bathroom and theres access to the roof to enjoy at your descretion. The location is great, just a 10 minute walk to the Plaza de Armas or take a taxi right down the street with ease. Yure has a ton of knowledge in relation to tourist attractions and he can book adventures for you which is super convenient. My girlfriend and I stay with them for over a week and were completely satisfied with every aspect of our stay. He also speaks english. So yeah its a perfect spot for tourists.
Room & bathroom were clean, breakfast sufficient, the building well located and Yure was a very helpful host.
