I will not be present for your stay, but can advise on local secret hikes and picnic spots and outings.
In a rural setting, but close to the famous "Pleasant Brook Hotel" a colorful local dive bar that makes homemade pizza, the best spicy wings, and all the junk bar food one can dream of.
This was just what we were looking for. The term rustic is real and that's what this is. Views from the kitchen out the back are pretty great. She also has excellent taste in music and we listened to the cd's and records that were there. Kitchen is awesome and there's lots of space to unwind. Good books too.
Host was very responsive and provides her contact information.
We enjoyed our stay. The house is quite rural, and is an easy 20 minute drive to Cooperstown. We stayed in the fall, and the heat is slow but warms the house fine. All appliances were nice and modern. Lots of cooking tools. Only downside is the shower -- don't plan on anything but a quick utilitarian scrub: the water pressure is quite low.
There is satellite internet access, which is fine for checking your email, but don't expect to do much of anything else. There is no chance you'll be able to stream audio/video or VPN to your office! (Could be a benefit?)
At the time of our stay, we ran into some complications. Molly was SO accommodating and helpful. She was easy to communicate with, her house was comfortable, and the property was beautiful. Unfortunately there were plumbing issues, which made it difficult to stay for the time we had planned to, but Molly was SO understanding and kind that she not only did everything she could to fix the problem, she also gave us a full refund (along with a complimentary night)! We enjoyed her collection of old records and her personal touch on everything in the house. The town is gorgeous, too! We will definitely be coming back for a weekend with some people!
We stayed at the farmhouse for an extended weekend and couldn't be happier with the experience. Before our trip, Molly sent a very helpful list with "insider" tips for what the nearby towns had to offer. The house had everything we needed including some great tunes on vinyl. We loved the overall vibe of the place and felt right at home. The property has some great opportunities for exploring. If you're a city dweller, don't miss out on the unbeatable view of all the stars in the sky from the back deck.
Molly's house is big, charming, and comfortable. I didn't get to meet her, but arrangements were easy. There was a problem with the hot water. As soon as I contacted Molly, she had someone working on it in an hour or so, and it was soon fixed. I was there for Glimmerglass Festival, and it's really nice to stay so close to the opera house without having to deal with Cooperstown.
Even though we had a short 2 days stay, we loved our unique experience at this farm house. The house is charming and full of things to discover. If you are looking to have a memorable time this will be a great choice!
