Listing highlights
In the Vermont countryside near Hardwick
In rural northern Vermont, close to downtown Hardwick and a short drive to Stowe.
A caboose-turned-treehouse in the trees
A heated caboose nestled in the treetops with an indoor shower, a fire pit, and a woodland trail.
A quirky, cozy escape
Guests call this a memorable, one-of-a-kind stay. Many highlight the cozy feel and peaceful setting.
it is heated! it has a indoor toilet and shower. My kids used to enjoy a story about a little caboose that was not happy with his lot in life. He escaped his drudgery in a dramatic way. I have owned and lived in a tiny house for years, and people often would tell me that the tiny house looked like a caboose. SOOO I helped it escape to the trees.
The space
The caboose is nestled in the trees where you can get close up and personal with nature. There are other dwellings around the caboose, the privacy fence define the cabooses boundary
There is a path into the wood at the end of the wall. Please feel free to wander around and explore this little woodland. At the end of the trail there is a windmill. This part of the property has a wonderful view and is a great place to watch the sun set
if you are squeamish around spiders. ants, chipmunks, and the alike please don't complain and ask for a refund it is a treehouse all critters are welcome as long as they are tolerant of each other.
Guest access
You can park anywhere that is comfortable for you, but I would prefer it if you didn't park right in front of the Caboose as I am trying to establish a lawn there.
Other things to note
the kitchen is very basic. there's a hot plate and a frying pan. microwave and toster. some cooking utensils. no plates or cups. I will improve but that's what I got now.
I am open to allowing an extra guests to pitch a tent or two, but you must make that request so we can talk about what you have in mind.
I am going to leave some spray paint cans, so if a guest felt creative they could spray us a mural on the privacy tarp. Feel free to buy other spray paint if you'd like different colors!

My work: retired building trades teacher
Lives in Hardwick, Vermont
Hello and welcome!
I am a retired building trades teacher from Vermont. I have always wanted to build a geodesic dome house and have finally had the time to do so. This has been an adventure in creative construction, and I am happy to share this space with you! Besides building, my interests include mountain biking, kayaking, snowboarding and, most recently, natural beekeeping.
