The Hawthorne House is is situated in the Hawthorne neighborhood with food and coffee shops nearby. The abode worked perfectly for my 2 sisters and 3 nieces. Being a basement unit was likely helpful as we celebrated a birthday with karaoke one night! The vintage/funky decorative style is perfect for the apartment and it was sufficiently stocked to meet our needs. Thanks for sharing your space with us.
Although I didn't get a chance to meet Kathy and Vic, they were amazing hosts nonetheless. I arrived late to a bag of fresh roasted coffee beans and a perfectly setup space. The rooms are well decorated, the heat was perfect for a chilly Portland winter and we had everything we needed. Highly recommend.
Very kind hosts, and a great place to stay - my kids were charmed, as was I. Very excellent that it's right next to a diner with a great breakfast and excellent service, too.
Most of the 'must see' attractions of Portland are in the adjoining neighborhoods, so it is a great central (email hidden)ere are some great shops and restaurants within walking distance, also. The walk to downtown Portland is too far for convenience, and not through a great area, but it's a very short drive and a simple bus ride.
Kathy's Hawthorne Hideaway was the perfect place for my family and me for a relaxing Valentine's weekend in a great neighborhood in Portland. We enjoyed our time with comfortable beds, tasty coffee left by Kathy and Vic, and more than enough room for the four of us. Besides the sporadic noise coming from upstairs here and there, we very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a homely place to spend their time in southeast Portland!
Kathy's place is wonderful. I can't say enough nice things about it. The way each room is decorated is beyond charming. We found the location to be perfect - a nice part of town that was walkable to almost everything we were looking to do. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice, warm, comfortable place to stay.
We had a great time staying at Kathy's apartment! It's adorably decorated, with lots of thoughtful touches that made us feel welcomed and comfortable (most memorably the hand-roasted coffee, which was delicious!) The location is great--we loved having breakfast at Junior's Cafe next door. Kathy was very accommodating and easygoing. Highly recommended!
Fabulous place in a great neighborhood. Kathy was beyond generous and we had a wonderful experience.
Great location, which is by far the most important thing. Very clean and friendly so the only reason for 4 stars is due to a little bit of noise given that the rooms are in the basement of the owner's home. Given the price and 3 full rooms with updated bathroom though, I would definitely recommend.
Had a fabulous time at this awesome hideaway. Decided that we needed a getaway last minute with three friends and was pleasantly surprised that this cozy cute space was available (well, actually three other people wanted it, but I was first). It is a perfect spot to relax and walk to different restaurants, coffee stops and some great beers. Our hosts were awesome and super friendly but respected out privacy. We went during Christmas and were warned that family (including children) would be running around upstairs, but we weren't not bothered at all. Love the neighborhood!
The Cozy Hawthorne Hideaway was the perfect spot for our long weekend six person Portland excursion. The suite was impeccably clean, quiet, and most importantly - cozy! It snowed our first night there and we were warm and toasty inside.
The suite came with excellent amenities: Netflix, comfortable mattress toppers, coffee beans that had been roasted by our host (the coffee was delicious), convenient location, convenient parking, local restaurants and shops in walking distance, all the necessities you could want in a bathroom, and plenty of extra blankets - because an extra blanket is never a bad thing.
Overall, it was great and I would happily stay there again.
