The Space

Within our home we have a double room available to rent. Toilet next door to the room as well as a separate bathroom and toilet.
Use of kitchen and washing facilities;including microwave, washing machine and dishwasher

We now have an empty nest, as both children have left home, so it is just myself and my partner. We have a dog, two cats and 13 chickens (the chickens do live in the garden) The other animals are not officially allowed upstairs but do creep up if we're not looking.

We live close to Drax and Eggborough and Ferrybridge Powers stations so maybe ideal for contractors working in the local area.

There is local public transport to both Selby and Goole with connections to Doncaster, York, Hull and Pontefract. There is a direct train service to Leeds ideal for commuters working 9-5. ( depart Snaith at 7.15 and return to Snaith at 18.10)

Snaith has five Pubs offering a selection of food, drinks and tastes in evening entertainment (mainly at weekends) Quiz nights weekly. The town also has Chinese, Indian and Italian style takeaways as well as a traditional fish and chip shop (with seating if required),

There is a good selection of shops including a Co-Op (7am-11pm), delicatessen, butcher, florist and cafe offering breakfasts, lunches and takeaway lunch and snacks.

There is a cash point in the market place and a petrol station on the Pontefract Road

Check In
  • The room and facilities are exactly as pictured and very comfortable. Shared bathroom worked fine. The pets rather dominate the kitchen space so if you are not a dog and cat lover you might be happier to go elsewhere. Ron was forthcoming with places to eat and a real gentleman helping with our luggage. Delightful garden!

    Response from Jessica:

    Hi William
Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you liked the room and pleased that Ron was a real gentleman :)
I would like to say though that the listing clearly states that we do have a dog, two cats and 13 chickens also breakfast is not included in the price we only offer what we have in the cupboards as a complimentary extra in case people have not brought their own. I may need to make that clearer when we offer it again.
Thanking you and enjoy the remainder of your trip

  • It was very nice staying in Jessica's house although we didn't actually meet her. Her neighbour Stacey let us in. She was very helpful. We also met her other half - Ron. He was really nice. We enjoyed the garden and cooked a proper meal in her big kitchen. The dog was really friendly and liked our company. I’ve left my phone there and Ron agreed to send it back to me – how nice of him.

  • Without any doubts.... I have stayed in Jessica's house to finish my phd thesis... I choose that place as it seems a very good one in terms of location and the hospitality from Jessica and Ron.

  • Jessica couldn't have been nicer given I messed up on the check in and check out dates. Lovely property and great to have more space than if I stayed in a hotel. Thank you so much!

  • Our stay with Jessica and Ron in Snaith couldn't have been better. Close to the transportation we needed, yet rural and traditional--with chickens!--they made my mom, my uncle and me feel so welcome. When I got an infected foot--Jessica took me to the National Health Service. When catching the train might have been a problem, Ron drove us to Selby. They made us welcome in their kitchen and the bedroom was warm and welcoming. Both are great to talk to and helped us find our way around the out-of-the-way places we wanted to visit.

  • We really enjoyed our overnight stay in Snaith with Jessica. The house was warm and comfortable and Jessica warm and friendly. We loved that we could use the kitchen to prepare our meals and had the best night's sleep in the extremely comfortable bed! We would definitely recommend staying here.

We live in Yorkshire and first used airbnb when we visited Cardiff. A while later we responded to an email from airbnb inviting us to list a spare room and haven't looked back since. We are enjoying the experience of meeting people we would never have had the opportunity to meet otherwise. We have had a couple of Basil Fawlty moments but would seem to have been forgiven for these. Here's to a future of hosting.
