Prehistoric traces of human attendance between 2,000 and 3,000 BC (cave and dove).
At the end of the 5th century BC the city took the Greek name of Kephaloidion.
It is invaded in 396 BC by the Carthaginians, Siracusans (307 BC), Romans (254 BC) who call it Cephaloedium.
The dominion of the Vandals and Goths, the Oriental Empire, the Arabs, the Normans, the Angiovians and the Spaniards follow.
