Your room has an amazing 25 km view of the Bay with a private deck and shiny, bright bathroom next door. Our three storey house was completed a year ago and has warm terrazza floors, cedar beams and a big modern kitchen. It is set in 30 acres of woodland but is also convenient for Lunenberg and Mahone Bay (40 minutes), Peggy's Cove (20minutes), Halifax (25 minutes), Wolfville (50minutes).
Locally, we have farmers markets, a shopping area and several colourful cafes that serve lunch and coffee. There are also good hiking trails and bikes for hire.
A local bus goes to Halifax, but public transport is limited.
We both love to meet new people and cook so may sometimes be able to offer supper and help yourself breakfast.
I work as an acupuncturist in an office at the bottom of our driveway, 10 minutes walk away and Colin is usually out doing something practical like fishing, building or gardening.
If you like peace and quiet but easy access to people and places then this is the place for you.
Louise and Colin are extremely hospitable and warm people! We were snowed in with them for the weekend, and it could not have been more pleasant. They welcomed us with open arms as their adopted children for the weekend. We enjoyed a beautiful, snowy walk led by Louise and their adorable pup, great conversation, delicious food, and simply just great company; it could not have been better! The view up there is amazing, and their house is absolutely stunning. This all made for a great weekend getaway from the bustle of the city. Whether you're just passing through Nova Scotia or are a long-time resident, their home serves as the perfect getaway; highly recommended! Thank you again, Louise & Colin!
What a great house (clean and comfortable) with a great view and very cozy bedroom.
Our hosts were warm, welcoming and did more than expected. We enjoyed having dinner altogether the two nights we spent there.
The view from the room was spectacular! Our experience was wonderful - it was like staying with friends. Louise and Colin were wonderful hosts! If you are ever in Halifax, a must is to stay with these wonderful people.
Louise's and Colin's house is by far the most beautiful place I have ever stayed at (or that I have ever seen, to be precise). The view from the bedroom is absolutely amazing -- I couldn't imagine a better start of a day -- and the whole house is so cosy and bright and made me wish we could have stayed there for much longer. Louise and Colin were very kind, generous, interesting and uncomplicated hosts and offered us some good advice for our trip. I can highly recommend their home to anybody who would like to be delighted!
Louise and Colin are the real deal. We had an incredible stay with them. Their spot had the best view of St. Margaret's bay, and even the shower has an amazing view! They are great company, so generous, and we are already planning our return visit. You will be most fortunate to stay here.
Our one night stay in the Loft Room was definitely a highlight of our trip. We unfortunately never got to meet Louise, but her husband Colin treated us fantastically. We had some really nice conversations, and he gave us some great advice about what to do in the area. We felt so welcome and so comfortable here that it was it was quite sad to leave the house behind. The hospitality alone would have made this an outstanding stay but on top of that....
THE VIEW! Incredible! Colin and Louise have a view that is second to none. Waking up in the morning to the view in the Loft Room leaves one speechless. It took us far longer than usual to get out of bed due to the gorgeous view we were treated to, simply by opening our eyes. Sitting in the amazingly comfortable bed, with that view made our morning an unforgettable one.
You cannot skip this room. Don't hesitate to book it, because it is definitely worth it. The stay here is an experience unto itself, and I promise you will enjoy it. Thank you so much Colin and Louise!
Ascending to the mountain top we were reassuringly greeted by Louise. She & Collin were lovely hosts, providing support for our every need! The room's spectacular view was thrilling--including the bedazzling nighttime galaxy viewed from the adjacent deck. We thoroughly enjoyed the warmth of intellectual exchange during our breakfast. We highly recommend this luxurious respite on your journey.
We were sorry not to meet Louise but Colin was an excellent and generous host and we thoroughly enjoyed his company. Our room was great and we had the most amazing view. We wanted peace and a natural setting with all the places we wanted to visit easily accessible and that's exactly what we had. Thank you Colin! We will always have fond memories of Nova Scotia because of you and hope to return one day with more time available.
Louise and her husband Colin, have simply the most sublime house with such a stunning view. We arrived in the dark and fog, yet despite this were welcomed into the warmth of a home with open arms. This was so very welcome after the long drive to Nova Scotia that we had had.
Not only were they incredibly engaging people, but Louise and Colin were also full of excellent tips about what to see and what to avoid on during our stay. So far, we've stuck to their advice and have never been disappointed - just today we completed a successful trip to brier island for a spot of whale watching!
Thanks so much and you're welcome to say in Warsaw any time. We'll definitely be recommending your place to anyone else who is coming to Canada/Nova Scotia.
Louise describes guests' view from their room as amazing and I must say that her description is understated; the view is breathtaking (priceless) and the large comfortable bedroom and deck are lovely. The house has a serene feel because of the loving details Louise and Colin have poured into their home and they want to share this with guests!!!!! The house is clean with books, art and flowers---and Louise and Colin are interesting, friendly and knowledgeable. They are happy to share information about the area...We went to a local farmers' market held each Saturday and I picked up fresh scallops, and veggies which we cooked for dinner....The scallops were to die for. Colin shared produce from his organic garden and his knowledge of food is fantastic. Breakfasts are memorable with granola made by Louise and homemade bread baked by Colin.
While we were there we took advantage of the Rails to Trails biking path just minutes from the house and riding along the water, I felt like I was living a travel brochure...I am sorry that I did not do the hiking trail that is very close to the house. Don't miss this house and lovely people!
