This is a nice little room in a four bedroom house in the Mission District.

It has a very comfy twin (single) sized bed and a desk. A big window with lots of natural light. Fast internet connection and access to lots of audio equipment.

The Space

This is a nice little room in a four bedroom house in the Mission District.

It has a very comfy twin (single) sized bed and a desk. A big window with lots of natural light. Fast internet connection and access to lots of audio equipment.

We have access to a nice rooftop where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful views of Potrero Hills and Twin Peaks

Guest Access

The house sits right next to the oldest standing house in San Francisco, our house is about the same age, with its quirks and weird architectural design. It might not be fancy but has a lot of character and charm.

There is a toilet/sink room and a separate shower room with a bath tube, a large kitchen and a smoking area in the back.

Interaction with Guests

You will be sharing the house with me, my wife Maria and our roomate Koko, we have our own private rooms and stay busy during the day.

Koko is a Filipino Student and an amazing sushi chef.

Maria is a dog walker and once in a while will bring a dog into the house overnight.

We also have a 10lb dog named Mico that is pretty chill and quiet. The pets never leave our room.

We are all very sociable and respectful, we might get a chance to talk during dinner and have a chat but we are also very mindful about your privacy and will not be bothering you during your visit.

We all love music in the house and would like to have musicians or music sensitive people visiting.

The Neighborhood

Its locations is just one block away from all the fun of 24th st. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, galleries, markets and street art around.

The Mission is the District with most fun in San Francisco, there are plenty of restaurants, galleries, coffee shops, bars and clubs to visit. Lots of parks too: Potrero Del Sol park, Garfield Square and Precita Park are just a short walk away.

Getting around

Transportation is very easy, the BART is a few blocks down, several Muni lines stop around the house and the airport is 15 minutes drive. Downtown is 10 biking.

Other Things to Note

This place would be ideal for friends or couples traveling on a low budget. There is only a single bed in the room but there is a chair bed (Ikea Lycksele) that you can use for an extra guess.

The place is not a fancy honeymoon chateau by any means but a place where you can really experience what is like to live in San Francisco.

  • Leon's room was just what I needed for my short business trip to San Francisco - a clean and comfortable bed/room for the night with free internet, and a small price tag. Don't be misled by the picture - it looks like a small room but I'm 6ft 8ins tall and this was a very comfortable bed with plenty of room to stretch out - not at all claustrophobic.
I met Leon and one of his room-mates, and they were both friendly and down to earth - very sociable.
This is an older style property, configured with several individual private rooms and a central kitchen with bathroom and shower, shared by everyone, so it's fine for overnight stays but don't expect a big central family room - it's not a single family style house with lots of common areas.
My only complaint was the lack of parking in the area, for which Leon has no control over. This is one of the drawbacks of life in a city like San Francisco - the houses are narrow so they generally have garages under the property, which leaves few parking spaces on the streets between the driveways. On the streets with no driveways, there are lots of parking meters only good for 2hrs, so not practical for daytime parking. They are free however after 6pm and overnight until 8am, so for the business traveler working during the day, there are always spaces to be found after 6pm.
I do recommend that any business travelers or tourists that stay with Leon and have a car, consider taking Caltrain into San Francisco rather than BART - pretty much all the Caltrain stations have free or very low cost parking at the station, whereas the BART stations generally have no parking within the city. I drove less than 5 miles to the Bayshore Caltrain station and got free parking all day, and the train was only $3 each way for a 10-15 minute ride into the City.

  • Leon was a good host. The room was as advertised. My only complaint is that some of the neighbors were loud during the night of my stay.

  • The house rules were not followed by Leon and his roommates as the first night they came home around 4am loud, wasted, and vomiting. I was only at Leon's from midnight to 5:30am and was unable to get any sleep the first night due to the frat house partying going on. The house rules were "Tobacco smoking only allowed in the back patio. Quiet time is 12 am during week days, 2 am Friday and Saturday No sleep overs or unauthorized guests."
The room itself was as described. Location is 14 minutes walk to the East from BART station at 24th/Mission. I stayed 3 nights while attending a convention. I was only there in the evening to sleep and left early each day around 5:30am. My expectations were pretty low and I was mostly looking for an inexpensive location to sleep with easy access to BART while attending the convention. Leon's communication before arriving was good. However, the occupants partying at all hours of the night make this a bad choice if you plan on getting any sleep.

    Response from Leon:

His first night was a Tuesday and indeed we had a World Cup party during the afternoon. All guest left the house before 10pm.
One of our roomates works at a restaurant and usually arrives with his bike late at night.
Not sure about the vomiting thing. I asked all of the occupants and no one was sick during that week.
I think Edward was confused and put the three incidents together and jumped into his own conclusions.
He never had any contact or conversation with the rest of the roomates when all could had been sorted out with a refund and help to relocate.
Really sorry his visit was not pleasant.

  • Great location in the Mission. Leon was a responsive host and the place was as advertised. Nice quiet home base for a couple days.

  • My stay in Leon's place was very different to my other Airbnb stays. The room it self was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom and shower was also clean, and the wifi was excellent. I guess this is a bit like living in college housing as all the rooms are used as bedrooms and there is not lounge room etc to sit in. so it's your bedroom, or the rooftop. There is a door that is blocked between this room and Leon's room, so at times it was a bit noisey plus the smell of smoking came into the room. It's a great room if you plan to be out during a lot of your time during your stay, in a great area for eating out, but i did miss crossing paths with my host to get the local knowledge which I have been able to get in my other stays
