About this listing
An apartment in the Kisla area with a private pool that is as big as most villas but without the price tag.
This is my idea of heaven. Close enough to Kalkan to enjoy the hustle and bustle but far enough away to indulge in rest and relaxation.
Lazy Daisy started life as two small apartments. A bit of vision. A lot of trust in the builder and six months after seeing a building site for the first time, the apartment was transformed into a duplex with its own pool.
The outside space at Lazy Daisy has been optimised to make the most of the stupendous view. Sit on the step of the pool with a glass in hand and you quite easily drift away from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind.
If the Turkish sun is just too much for you then sneak into the Oriental Corner where you can chill with a book under the pergola in the shade.
There is a beautiful white rattan dining table with six chairs for outside eating – just outside the kitchen so there isn’t far to carry your wine or beer. And when you’ve just done enough for the day, relax on one of the loungers for a well deserved doze.
Inside the apartment there is an open plan living / dining room which leads into the fully equipped kitchen. Leave your rubber gloves at home there is a dishwasher and a microwave. There’s also a hob and oven if you fancy throwing together a meal at home.
The living room has sliding doors which lead straight onto the terrace area, the kitchen also has a door which opens onto the al fresco eating area.
Off the living room – which has a 32” plasma TV as well as a DVD player – there is a twin bedroom with an ensuite shower room. This room also has a door which opens onto the terrace.
Vital for all mums is the second bathroom on this floor – another loo – as well as the washing machine.
Upstairs there is another twin bedroom which has access onto the wrap around balcony.
The most stunning room in the apartment is the master suite. A bespoke daisy wrought iron bed dominates the room which has sliding doors onto the balcony with the most amazing views of Kalkan Bay. Lie in the gorgeous bed and just soak up the scene – amazing!
Behind the bed there is a walk in wardrobe which has ample hanging space for the apartment as well as shelves for your smalls. And beyond this is the ensuite bathroom.
The apartment sleeps six in total – there are four single beds and one double bed. All bedrooms have air conditioning. Due to the nature of the apartment it is not suitable for very small children. The pool is unfenced and the apartment is situated up a steep, but manageable hill.
Lazy Daisy has been created to make the most of the outdoor space. However, we have tried to think of everything you might need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The kitchen is fully equipped with enough crockery and cutlery for up to six people. There are pots and pans, cleaning equipment provided and a must in most kitchens an Ipod dock so that you can have music while you grab a refreshment.
The TV does have a free sat box with it and there are a number of English channels which you can watch if you decide to stay indoors.
One of the most attractive features of Lazy Daisy is the fact the apartment has the sole use of the pool as well as the terrace. You will not have to fight for one of the sunbeds, they are all yours for the duration of your stay. The pool is not heated but warms up quickly during the summer months - the best place in the whole apartment is the first step in the pool which affords the best views of the bay as well as the sunsets. There are a number of fruit trees which have been planted - including orange and apricot and the banana plant affords some welcome shade in the heat of the midday sun. There is sun on the terrace at all times for those sun worshippers amongst you, but if you crave the shade the oriental corner will keep you cooler.
Interaction with guests
Unfortunately I am only able to get out to Kalkan a couple of times a year. However we have a great management company which visits Lazy Daisy every day to clean the pool and they are on hand to deal with any eventuality which might arise.
Kalkan is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. I first arrived in 2007 and was instantly captivated by the people as well as the place. Situated 90 minutes from Dalaman Airport – yes the transfer time is worth it – Kalkan has had some marvellous accolades bestowed on it from travel critics. The Sunday Times wrote that Kalkan would attract visitors who would also enjoy Tuscany or the Dordogne. The Guardian likens the town to “the Italian Riviera minus the posers.”
Is it true? I don’t know. I don’t know if I need to know because for me there is no comparison. The cobbled streets ooze sophistication, the dozens of rooftop restaurants all compete for trade happily and the lack of nightclubs and noise all give the place a definite thumbs up in my eyes. It might not be for everyone. I’m not sure if you can get a full English breakfast (vital for some on vacation, I know). There are a couple of places which lure in sports fans with their big screens and for those who just can’t leave their laptop at home there is wi-fi available throughout Kalkan.
Shopping is a dream in Kalkan. Gorgeous jewellery shops offering hand made silver trinkets as well as sparkly fun accessories are plentiful. And anyone who has been before will revel in their stories of the ‘genuine fake’ shops. Fred Perry, Abercrombie & Fitch, Dolce & Gabbanna are just some of the designer names which can be purchased with Ray Bans, Gucci and Rolex accessories also on sale to complete your look. All great fun!
One of the best ways to get around Kalkan is to take a water taxi. Wander down to the Kalkan Beach Club – just five minutes walk all down hill from Lazy Daisy – and pick up the water taxi to take you into the centre of Kalkan. The water taxis operate throughout the day - they cost 5TL per person - but make sure you arrive early for the last boats in the evening as these tend to get full quickly as diners make their way to the many restaurants.
Other things to note
Those of you who have visited Kalkan before will know that it is built on steep hills. Leave your heels at home you will only be able to get around in flats.
It is for this reason I don't think Lazy Daisy is suitable for children under five. There is a steep drop in front of the pool and the pool area is not fenced off. We have therefore not equipped the apartment with a high chair or a cot.
Changeover days can be flexible dependent on bookings. A security deposit of £200 will also be required if a booking is made. This is fully refundable upon return should no damage have occurred.
There is no smoking inside the property although around the pool area or on the balconies is acceptable.
Cancel up to 7 days before your trip and get a 50% refund plus service fees back.

When you book this place, here’s where your review will show up!
I am a mum of two who likes to eat steak and sweet potato chips. I also like to drink wine. Probably far more than is good for me. I love Turkey. I love the people, the food and the weather. And most of all I love going to Lazy Daisy where I can escape the daily grind, sit by the pool and gaze at the magical view.
