Montrose is a gem of Houston. Intimate, historic, and defiantly eclectic Montrose is centrally located between Downtown, the Medical Center and the Galleria. Montrose's treelined streets are a jumble of 1930's bungalows, modernist townhouses, and historic cottages.
Your destination is within walking distance of Houston's finest restaurants - Da Marco, Underbelly, Hugo's, Uchi, and Divino, and the city's best bars - Anvil Bar & Refuge, The Hay Merchant, Poison Girl, West Alabama Ice House and Pistoleros. The Menil Collection, a world class museum, and The Rothko Chapel, on the University of St. Thomas' campus, are a only a few blocks away.
Also within walking distance are cafes and coffee shops including Brasil, Empire, Paulie's, Vinoteca Poscol, and many antique shops, art galleries and boutiques. A major grocery store is 4 blocks from the apartment. There are bus stops in the neighborhood that will take you just about anywhere in the city. This spot is a 5 minute drive of Rice University, Allen Parkway, and Midtown. Pedaling around town on the bicycles provided is a great way to explore Houston.

We keep things relaxed around here but here are some rules that will benefit everyone. No smoking inside the guest house. Street parking is available in front of the house only. Please be respectful of our neighbors.
I was in Houston for three weeks and working basically twelve hours a day for the whole time. Nicholas' cottage was a welcome respite in a quiet neighborhood and close to NRG. It is also very close to major grocery stores and restaurants which made my life easier.
I did not have much interaction with Nicholas but he was attentive to requests and arranged to have the cottage cleaned midway through my stay.
The pictures depicting the cottage are accurate. The cottage served my needs well.
Our stay at Nicholas’s “Charming Montrose Guest House” was wonderful. We chose his place based on the location; we were visiting family who live nearby. But this is a wonderful area for any visitor to Houston, with many museums, cafes, restaurants and shops within (short) walking distance, and also just a few minutes from major bus stops (e.g., one bus--no transfer--to downtown). The apartment was just right; completely separate from his home; clean and comfortable; with all the amenities. Nicholas was very friendly and helpful to us in arranging our stay, and was very prompt in getting back to me whenever I had a question. Thank you Nicholas!

Great neighborhood! Great host! We will certainly look to stay here for our future trips.
Nick was very warm and friendly and the Guest house is in a fabulous location in Houston. Parking is limited although we never had a problem parking in front of the the house. The house is modest but comfortable.
