About this listing
In Rome, few steps away from St. Peters and the Underground Line A (Cipro stop), Bi Bi Pesci is the ideal solution for who desires a cheap but comfortable accomodation in central Rome, to be enjoyed in full freedom. Dario's house is on the fourth floor (lift available) of a beautiful building in Viale degli Ammiragli 71, Rome.
In his large house Dario rents two nice rooms, each one with independent bathroom: the "due pesci" (#2 - two fish), with a king size bed, and the "tre pesci" (#3 - three fish), that can host three people.
The house has a large living room, where you can listen to music, read a book in peace or watch TV. We offer free wi-fi internet connection. Our two rooms are bright and spacious, with big windows. The triple room has a nice balcony with sofa, ideal for smokers. For every room there is a private bathroom just in front of it. Breakfast is self catering, so you can have it at the time you prefer: at your disposal there is everything you may need for preparing hot coffe, milk and tea, and an assortment of cereals, biscuits, cakes, rusks, marmelades, honey and chocolate cream. The area is very well connected. Some bus lines works all night long for coming back home after your night out. A Taxi parking is just 2 minutes away. The neighborhood is full of bars, restaurants, groceries, supermarkets, ATMs; in walking distance you will find the postal office and the hugest Rome open air market.
Bibi and his family welcomed me and my friend as if we were members of their family. They are kind and authentic persons.
The place is completely independent: with own kitchen and bathroom.
It is also located at the entrance, so that it gives the feel of respecting the place and privacy of the host.
And it is really near the Vatican.
In conclusion: very good and comfortable stay !
I'm usually not the type to complain, but I feel I should make it clear that the description is not completely accurate. True, the room is spacious (especially for Roman standards) and clean, but there was a very tiny, single bed, which wasn't very comfortable, and I was only given one pillow, which was very flat, and a light throw. The towels smelled like mildew. The bathroom, located right outside the room, was large, clean, and private; it was probably the best part of my stay. The apartment itself is spacious, but not very tidy and actually quite cluttered with the family's personal items.
The living room (offered in the description as a place where you can relax, read and/or listen to music) appeared to be off limits since it was covered in baby toys & clothes. Turns out, Dario lives there with his family and although they will give you privacy, you should be prepared to be staying in someone else's home where they live, play, cook, and eat. I was in Rome for the weekend after a few weeks of traveling and wanted to sleep in on a Sunday, but could hear the family & baby playing starting at around 8am. I came home from the beach that same day to find Dario's family (two women and a baby) in the living room; one of the women was hanging laundry to dry on racks in the living room. Do not expect to use any part of the house except for the room & bathroom you're given.
Breakfast is not available in the house. You are given vouchers for the bar across the street, but be aware the bar does not open on Sundays. I was only able to use 1 of 3 vouchers since it was closed on Sunday and I left on a Monday before the bar opened.
Overall, this room is ok if all you're looking for is a clean & simple room to sleep in, but do not expect to find an apartment where you can, or will want to, hang out during the day. The location is good since it's only a few blocks away from Metro A Cipro stop & in a neighborhood full of shops, restaurants, and bars.
We had a such great time in Rome, his place was comfortable, private and perfect after a long day out exploring the city. Initially we were concerned because after reserving the room we could not get in touch with him until the night before, we were so relieved when he finally got in touch with us a few hours before our flight. We stayed in his front room just off the entryway. We were surprised to find it had a bed, small couch/twin sleeper and a small kitchette, we thought it was just a room. It was spacious and clean and he even provided some snacks, espresso and groceries in the fridge and pantry. It was very close to the metro and had some wonderfully reviewed restaurants (thank you trip advisor) close by. Thank you for everything!
When I arrived the host was not present and did not answer the phone. I called the airbnb help line, they also could not get a hold of the host. I eventually found a hotel nearby which could accommodate.
The next day airbnb spoke with the host and they told me he did not realize he booked me. The reservation for the remaining days I was to stay there were cancelled, as I was informed the host was out of town.
I had a wonderful stay with Dario and Guisy in Rome. Their place is in a great location, very clean and the room is large, bright and includes a private bath. Both were very accommodating in providing directions, suggesting local eateries, arranging transport to the airport and all-around more than generous with their time. The breakfast was tasty and refrigerator space was available for my personal use. I hope to return sometime this summer. Thank you!!!!
Host was not around when I reached but got his friend to open the doors and showed me around. I met the host on the last night before I left and he had prepared dinner for the other guests. It is pity that I didn't had the time to interact with him, but the room was clean, and I had my own private toilet and bathroom, which was great. Location is a little far, but still walkable from the metro.
