Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as pleases!
Wonderful little quiet town with some great resturants, tapas bars and cafés with live musicians.
Best thing is to rent a car to get around to the surrounding areas. However the town is walk able distance (beautiful scenic walk)
Other Things to Note
Hundreds of vin yards to visit and other attractions such as the main Carcassonne town. Mountain walks and river swims.
Basic consideration to others.
This was my best AirBnB experience to date, Rowena is lovely and I felt very welcome from the moment I arrived, she has a kind spirit and made sure I settled in quickly. Her house is in a wonderful location if you want to wind down and relax a little, the property is beautiful and reflects her character, the animals are great to have around and was a big bonus for me. The room was big and the bed very comfortable, all the basics were provided. Caunes is a beautiful little town and is great for hikes and walks in the foothills, nothing too strenuous although there are many trails to choose from. A bus runs from Carcassonne to Caunes a few times a day, so it's relatively easy to get to the village. If this listing is on your shortlist, stop thinking about it and book it. I hope to go back very soon.
We absolutely loved staying here. Not sure what was the best bit: the house, the river, meeting other nice people, the super relaxed atmosphere, the chance to try our hands at pottery, the vinyl collection, the chats, the crazy storm we witnessed, the really lovely village, the friendly dogs....actually it was probably just Rowena. I want to be like her when I grow up. Go there for yourself and enjoy! Thank you so much x
Rowena made us feel very, very welcome when we arrived at her special place. This was especially true since I arrived sick and she took me the very next day to her doctor and pharmacy. My quick recovery meant we both enjoyed the rest of our stay very much. The property was full of wonderful places to explore and the dogs love to keep you company and guide you to the waterfalls and special wooded paths. Nighttime transformed the valley where Rowena's home is nestled and, on most nights, we gazed at the stars for hours. Our bed had lovely linens and was very comfortable. The spacious shared bathroom had dreamy, one of a kind bathtub set perfectly to look out a window out into the valley. There was also a stall shower, as well as toilet and footbath. All of this would have been enough to recommend a stay at Rowena's , but we had the additional privilege of joining Rowena in pottery lessons... and was a highlight in our trip. The location feels remote and yet is only minutes from the town with wonderful restaurants and an historic Abbaye. Carcassonne and other sights to see were also within easy driving distance. Rowena is a truly caring and lovely person who we enjoyed getting to know during our stay. We warmly recommend a stay at Rowena's -- especially if you are a nature lover.
This place is a wonderful place. For relaxing and having a great holiday.
Also the host Rowena is so kind. We felt more than welkom.
Our children had a fabulous time. The dogs, the field, the river, the Minervois. We have enjoyed everything. Thanks Rowena. See you next time!!!

I am a Potter and I teach beginners and host workshops for professional potters. I also help children and adults with special needs through pottery and have seen incredible results in this area.
As an animal lover, I adore living here in the heart of all this natural beauty.
I like music and fun and do appreciate peace as well. We get both here.
