Perfect for the longer stay or the budget traveler. Clean and Simple- but not lacking amenities!
This space is a detached 700 (ish) square feet, one-bedroom apartment with a complete kitchen and bathroom (tub and shower combo). Nice bright windows and high ceilings make it feel even bigger than it is! Please note that the only access is up one flight of stairs.
If you don't feel like eating-out for every meal the kitchen is equipped with a little more than the basics, so you can whip something up. If you find you are missing something integral to your meal or stay, we welcome a knock on the door or a call, and we probably will have what you need to lend out of the main house.
Along with the queen size bed in the bedroom, we also have a double air mattress or a single bed, that can made up upon request. If you are traveling with children, please don't feel the need to enter them into the official head count (but let us know ahead of time so we can make proper accommodations for all)
We keep ourselves busy- but we'll say hi if we see you coming and going. Generally the place is yours and we allow you as much privacy as you need. But always feel free to contact us if you need anything like an extra blanket or towel or advice on what to see or do.
Directly across the street is a great little coffee shop and a neighborhood tavern. So grab a coffee while you wait for the bus or a beer on your way home!
We are located a stone's throw, from the cute and friendly St. Johns downtown. Within a few blocks you will everything you need, groceries and fruit market, cafes and bars, drug stores and hardware stores. Also, don't forget to visit Cathedral Park and Pier Park if you are out for a stroll!
Downtown Portland is a short 15 minute scenic drive over the St. Johns Bridge and down along Forest Park (there are even a few trail heads to stop at along the way- if you are so inclined). If you choose to stay on the East side of the river, then the historic Mississippi district and Artsy Alberta are not very far off, either!
Feeling like you need a break from the city life - then Sauvie Island is the place for you! Located about 10 minutes up the road (by car- or by #16 bus) you can find, beaches, farms wildlife refuges, and some fantastic picnic spots!
The number 44 bus stops directly in front of the house and it heads to downtown Portland. It's about half hour trip.
If you are driving in- there is parking in the driveway - which is conveniently just steps away from your doorstep!

Loved the place. It was so convenient to our children. I can't wait to visit again.
What a great place. Excellent location. Clean, comfortable, bright apartment. Annalisa responded very quickly to all of my communication with her. Highly recommended.
We had a brief weekend getaway from our home in Bend, OR. Stayed at St. Johns Upstairs Abode. Clean, comfy, roomy. Great coffee across the street. We walked all around St. Johns, enjoyed breakfast at St.John's Cafe. Convenient and easy.
Although I didn't get to met Annalisa she was very quick to reply and my late night check-in was smooth and easy. The house was very private and spacious for us 2 with a complete kitchen and excellent shower. Parking right in front on the long driveway was a bonus. Funky part of Portland with an excellent new coffee restaurant 100 ft in front of the house.
This was a wonderful retreat for 9 days while helping with a new grandchild nearby. The apt gave us the peace and quiet we desired. Yet the many amenities nearby, plus public transport were true conveniences. We would definitely hope it is available next time we're in town. Annalisa was very generous and accommodating.
We loverd our stay and whole experience in this apartment. Annalisa was very responsive, helpful before reservation and when we finally booked she asked if she can prepare some toys for our son! Oh, you should have seen his face glowing when he saw toy airplane and cars and books :) almost the whole week it was raining in Portland, but we still felt great in this great place. With coffee or/ and glass of wine, cuddling on a sofa :) Totally recommend it.
We had a great time in Portland and a big part of that was Annalisa's fabulous guest apartment - it was clean, comfy, private, quiet. a pretty large space, and close to public transit and Cathedral Park. We especially loved the new cafe that apparently just opened across the street - great coffee, pastries and a relaxing vibe - we spent every morning there planning our day. We would stay here again anytime we visit Portland. I highly recommend staying here!
Annalisa’s St. Johns abode is really ideal. It’s private, directly on the path of public transit, and walking distance to an interesting hip neighborhood with restaurants and bars, and supermarkets. Annalisa provides very convenient booking and check-in / check-out procedure, and is easily available for any questions you may have. Indeed, I’ve stayed at the abode twice now and found it perfectly clean and welcoming each time. The bed is comfortable, the apartment is extremely quiet, and the shower has nice pressure. One neat addition that is present now that wasn’t there the first time I stayed is a stovetop espresso maker, the kind you find in Latin countries. I love these little coffee pots, they are easy to use and make a great cup of coffee! This is just one of the many little details that make Annalisa’s St. Johns abode a wonderful place to stay and I look forward to my next visit!
Annalisa's apartment is a wonderful, comfortable and well equipped 2nd floor unit; very private and very quiet in a very convenient and quiet neighborhood. There is bus line directly downtown and you can walk to a plethora of neat little cafes and restaurants about 5 blocks away in the St. Johns neighborhood. Annalisa provides very useful local maps, bus schedules and tour books for your use. If you desire food shopping there is a very modern Safeway is in the same location, or you may also check out the organic grocery. If you eat breakfast in, the apartment is well suited for that or any other cooking you have in mind. However, if you want breakfast out we highly recommend John Street Café. On Sunday morning the line was out of the door. (They are closed on Mondays.) Any time we are in Portland again we would stay at this apartment. anytime we are
We loved Annalisa's place, very comfortible and clean, with a beautiful garden. All positive comments concerning our first experience with Airbnb.
