Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Acres of nature surround and insulate your moment of rest here at the Laurel Zome. With intriguing geometry drawn directly from the architecture of mountain laurel blossoms, pangolin scales, and pinecones—the simplicity and focus of the zome allows a lofty experience. Wake to natural light spilling in from expansive faceted windows and skylights. Enjoy the ritual of stoking a fire to prime your body to slip into downy sheets for sleep, or into to the waters of your Koto Elements spa tub.

The space
The Laurel Zome is nested in remarkable privacy, the very last stop on a long rural drive. Guests will have walking access to 15 acres of rolling woodlands, featuring a small seasonal cascading creek, mossy boulders, cliff outcrops and of course the native ferns, wildflowers, and namesake mountain laurel. The Zome itself is adjacent to over 350 acres of untouched perservation land.

Some of the driveway in isn’t the most scenic, a few properties you will pass like to display their eccentric collections scattered in the yard. While we would love for every owner to keep things tidy, we respect their right to “decorate” in their own way :)

Guest access
Full private use of the zome, hot tub and firepit area, and woodland acres. Guests can walk from the zome up the hill and merge onto 15 acres of shared trails that lead to the property's cliffside picnic areas and seasonal waterfall.

My work: Carpentry
I am an Appalachian transplant, I love old forests, building things, pointing and yelling like a fool when I see cool birds, and marveling at odd bits of wood, moss leaves and bone. My wife Amy Sue is a professor of Theater and Tech Director at Covenant College. She's an adventurous cook, actress, and painter in her spare time. When I'm not stealing bites of her amazing food, I'm off restoring houses, doing interior design and building a little furniture. In my spare time, I love to creek stomp and work in my woodshop. Francis, our 4 year old, is a dimple-chinned goofball, and Juniper (9 months) is an angel. A gassy and growling angel. We love the simple life, good food and the great outdoors. As hosts we are very laid back. Everything is self checkin--We hope to make your stay as breezy and simple as you'd like. As our schedule allows, we love to spend time enjoying hanging out on the porch and meeting new folks.
