The Space

The apartment is located at a tranquil street in the most attractive Willow's neighborhood, yet very central with walking distance (10min.) to the shops, restaurants and cafés of University Avenue in Palo Alto, the nicest and most vibrant street in Palo Alto & Silicon Valley. Only a 15 min. bike ride to Stanford University and 10 min. to the posh Stanford Shopping center, where you find all the large brands as well as more nice restaurants and cafés.
The apartment is a new listing (as of end of May-2013), and is completely remodeled earlier this year with beautiful and sophisticated materials - sustainable bamboo hardwood floors throughout, concrete countertop, crown molding, recessed lights, Persian marble... The unit is fully furnished and equipped, has a queen size bed, and a convertible sofa bed, for any of your occasional guests.
The 'floor to ceiling' windows open up to the sunny terrace from both rooms, which make the unit very light and airy, from there you enjoy the California sun and watch the hummingbirds. Your lush patio and small garden is filled with flowers and plants - your own California paradise.

Guest Access

You have your own private entrance to your own garden and patio witch leads into the unit's bedroom and living room area. The modern kitchenette is well equipped with all the utensils and cookware for 2 or more, and has a stove, fridge (w. small freezer), microwave, coffee maker, and in-unit laundry/dryer.

Interaction with Guests

We welcome our guests personally, and are happy to provide restaurant-, shopping- and sightseeing advice and maps and books about the local scene and context can be provided. We are a small family who reside in the house to which the apartment is attached, but the unit is insulated and sound proofed and with your own entrance and garden your privacy is guaranteed.

The Neighborhood

The charming Menlo Park - Willow's neighborhood has all tree lined winding streets and is packed with beautiful houses. However, the tranquility and small-town feeling is an illusion, since you are close to all amenities and have easy access to freeways and the corporate world of Silicon Valley, which is only minutes away with e.g. the headquarters of Facebook being only a few minutes drive.
Besides the nearby large usual Supermarkets, the local smaller Willow's supermarket, on Middlefield, only a couple of minutes walk away are famous for their huge selection of all sorts of beverages, international food and groceries and houses a Lavazza coffee shop, and has a great 'food truck' event every Monday, plus wine tastings every Wednesday evening. Also a couple of blocks away there is a latino supermarket, La Hacienda, where you can get excellent tacos and burritos. The local Café Zoë serves excellent breakfasts & coffees, and the 'Spa in the Park', all just minutes away, has everything you need to treat yourself.

Getting Around

Getting around in Menlo Park and Palo Alto is easiest by bike or by foot. Besides the Stanford shuttle bus, public transport is fairly limited, (but still much better than most other US cities/towns). The Caltrain station is 10min. away by bike, and will take you to downtown San Francisco in 30-45 min.

Other Things to Note

Bicycles are available to rent at Stanford bike store for 80 dollars/week.
No overnight street parking is allowed in Menlo Park, but you can park the car on our driveway.
We give priority for guests requesting week/month or extended stay.
