About This Listing
I've a spacious double room available in a great location in Marino, Dublin, just 3.5km from the city centre. The house has three bedrooms and, as it's only myself and my partner here, there is plenty of space. Guests have full use of the house and are welcome to treat the place as a home from home. There's no extra cost for additional people staying, and I also have SPECIAL WEEKLY/MONTHLY RATES.
The bedroom itself is bright and spacious. It has a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table. There is plenty of storage space available in the spare room to dump bags etc.
The house has everything you'd need for your stay. There's a large, bright kitchen / lounge, with a couch and arm chair, plus a dining table and an open fire. Guests are free to cook and have full use of fridge etc. Double doors open out into the South (therefore sunny, when we get it!) facing garden. The kitchen has all the usual appliances as well as an espresso machine. There's a 42" flat screen with Sky and a stereo with a cable to connect to iPod etc.
There is a second living room to the front of the house with another 32" flat screen , connected to a PC so great for movies/netflix etc.
Marino is the perfect base to spend time in Dublin. A lovely community feel with greenery and parks, it is located ten minutes (driving) from the city centre. The road itself is lovely and quiet. There's a good convenience shop two minutes away, a lovely local fruit & veg store, numerous cafes, a Tesco and off licence a short walk down the road.
There are plenty of transport links into town from here. The (phone number hidden) buses are less than a two minute walk away and are great for getting across to all parts of Dublin, not just the city centre. Clontarf Dart Station is 7 mins walk, and the airport is less than 15 minutes in a taxi. Malahide and Howth are accessible from nearby bus stops as well as the Dart, and are lovely for a day trip.
The house is quite old style, but with modernity where it counts! I've old style furniture where I can, and bare floor boards in the hall and bedrooms giving it a traditional feel. The kitchen and bathroom were put in new around a year ago, and have all the modern conveniences you'd need. I think it's very homely and comfortable and there's plenty of space to relax after a day or night out in Dublin.
Normal house-sharing rules apply - clean up after yourself, keep loud noise down late at night and in the early morning.
Kate made it easy to get to her place from the airport and provided us with many helpful maps!! Everything was great - HIGHLY recommend her place if you are ever in Dublin! It was an easy hop on the bus to City Centre, and her neighborhood was really great.
A perfect place to stay for a night, a week or a month. Kate and Mick are very open, friendly people who are always up for a chat and will help with any questions you have. The area is quiet, safe and close to a bus stop to take you directly into the city. The bed is soft and comfortable. A perfect choice to get out of the bustle and noise of the city, but still only a 10 minute ride away.
Kate was a wonderful hostess! My best friend and I traveled to Dublin for 5 days and stayed in their home. The room is spacious and clean, the house has all the accommodations you'll need (fridge, microwave, TV, wifi, etc...). It is also within walking distance, or a short bus ride, from numerous pubs, restaurants and the lively city center. Kate provided us with maps of the city as well. Will definitely be contacting them for my next stay in Dublin!
Steven and I had a amazing time with with Kate and her partner Mink. We were so comfortable staying in their place. They had great vibes, and it felt like you are really at home. Kate's home was so centralized, it is walking distance to the city center, but her place is also in a nice residential area. They were very helpful in answering any questions we had. She even gave us lots of brochures about Dublin. When we went to Howth, she mentioned Brass Monkey was a good place to eat. We really enjoyed Howth, as the scenery and the people were awesome. We went their three times. We really had a great experiece staying with both of them. On our last night we felt like we had to cook a lobster dinner for both of them as a way of saying thanks for being such lovely hosts. Thanks a million Kate and Mink
Aloha With Love,
Steven and Tea
Kate and Mick were such gracious hosts. First of all, they couldn't be home when we arrived, so they left the key to the agreed location for us to go inside. So we already felt good before we met them. Despite their busy schedule, they were very kind and hospitable. They took time to chat with us. We had some interesting discussions, including educational system, health care, political issues etc. It gave us some insight into Ireland today which was very helpful. Kate was knowledgeable about the city of Dublin to guide us through. Her location is only a few minutes walk to the bus stop into town (20 minutes ride), conveniently located. Dart train station is several minutes walk and our visit to the small fishing village/town of Howth was most enjoyable. She drove us to the airport for our Sun. morning departure ....very sweet of her!!! We were made to feel at home.
About the Host, Kate
We both love to travel and have found AirBnB a great way to see a new city. We're looking forward to sharing our knowledge of Dublin with people coming here.
I'm a secondary teacher and Mick is studying Social Studies. We enjoy movies, theatre, good TV shows, music and generally socialising and enjoying ourselves.
