I've a spacious double room available in a great location in Marino, Dublin, just 3.5km from the city centre. The house has three bedrooms and, as it's only myself and my partner here, there is plenty of space. Guests have full use of the house and are welcome to treat the place as a home from home. There's no extra cost for additional people staying, and I also have SPECIAL WEEKLY/MONTHLY RATES.
The bedroom itself is bright and spacious. It has a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table. There is plenty of storage space available in the spare room to dump bags etc.
The house has everything you'd need for your stay. There's a large, bright kitchen / lounge, with a couch and arm chair, plus a dining table and an open fire. Guests are free to cook and have full use of fridge etc. Double doors open out into the South (therefore sunny, when we get it!) facing garden. The kitchen has all the usual appliances as well as an espresso machine. There's a 42" flat screen with Sky and a stereo with a cable to connect to iPod etc.
There is a second living room to the front of the house with another 32" flat screen , connected to a PC so great for movies/netflix etc.
Marino is the perfect base to spend time in Dublin. A lovely community feel with greenery and parks, it is located ten minutes (driving) from the city centre. The road itself is lovely and quiet. There's a good convenience shop two minutes away, a lovely local fruit & veg store, numerous cafes, a Tesco and off licence a short walk down the road.
There are plenty of transport links into town from here. The (phone number hidden) buses are less than a two minute walk away and are great for getting across to all parts of Dublin, not just the city centre. Clontarf Dart Station is 7 mins walk, and the airport is less than 15 minutes in a taxi. Malahide and Howth are accessible from nearby bus stops as well as the Dart, and are lovely for a day trip.
The house is quite old style, but with modernity where it counts! I've old style furniture where I can, and bare floor boards in the hall and bedrooms giving it a traditional feel. The kitchen and bathroom were put in new around a year ago, and have all the modern conveniences you'd need. I think it's very homely and comfortable and there's plenty of space to relax after a day or night out in Dublin.
Kate and Mick were such gracious hosts. First of all, they couldn't be home when we arrived, so they left the key to the agreed location for us to go inside. So we already felt good before we met them. Despite their busy schedule, they were very kind and hospitable. They took time to chat with us. We had some interesting discussions, including educational system, health care, political issues etc. It gave us some insight into Ireland today which was very helpful. Kate was knowledgeable about the city of Dublin to guide us through. Her location is only a few minutes walk to the bus stop into town (20 minutes ride), conveniently located. Dart train station is several minutes walk and our visit to the small fishing village/town of Howth was most enjoyable. She drove us to the airport for our Sun. morning departure ....very sweet of her!!! We were made to feel at home.
We had a really great moment at Kate and Mick's house! The house is cosy and everything is just done right. It's a very quite house and neibourghoud. It's also very easy to get there and to go to the centrum. We even did it by foot allowing us to contemplate the variety of Dublin. There is everything you need there. Kate and Mick are very friendly. If you go to Dublin, don't think twice, just go there :-)
Kate and Mick are wonderful hosts and we really enjoyed our two week stay at their home, they made us feel like it was our home too which is something you don't get that often! The home is nice, spacious and cosy, it's in a nice and quiet neighborhood, takes only about 10-15 minutes on the bus to the city centre or 40 minutes if you feel like walking to the city centre!
Kate and Mick were both great help and offered advices and any help needed to navigate or find our way around the city, and Kate also prepared maps for us with bus routes, places to see, pubs and restaurants that are recommended etc.
Highly recommend to choose Kate and Mick's home if you intend to come to Dublin, you won't be sorry!
Κate is a sweet and polite girl! The house is nice and cozy! The neighborhood where it is located just 10 minutes from the city center. I stayed there for a week and I had a wonderful time. At home there are all the comforts and the hosts are really loveable!
P.S Κate had prepared for us maps with information about how to move through the city. Also she had prepared us for written information about places to eat bar and many more!
