Cozy room near Jabaquara beach

House - Private room · Rua Duque de Caxias, esq. Vera Cruz, Paraty, Rio de Janeiro 23970-000, Brazil

The Space

The house is at 5 minutes by walking from the beautiful beach of Jabaquara, 15 minutes from the historical center of Paraty and near the neighborhood little market. The street has not pavement, but it is easy to access, just 100 meters from the main street.

Our house is new and well decorated: we have furnished it with recycled elements, it is simple but really cozy! It has two floor, a large one with kitchen, living, a little bathroom and a backyard.

The room is upstairs: it has a double bed with mosquito net, a funny closet (an old fridge that we have arranged!) and shelves. It has a balcony too, to the backyard, and close to palms and a lot of vegetation. The bathroom is private, inside the room.
Room is sunny, comfortable and very quiet. Often the only noise that you can hear is from the birds just in front of your window! We provide sheets, towels and blanket or fan if necessary.
All guests have access to a complete kitchen and the others equipment: fridge, blender, toaster, washing machine and BBQ. In the price of your stay is also included a delicious breakfast with coffe or tea, milk, cookies, butter, fruits, bread and cheese.

Our dog Bernardino lives with us: it is quiet and educated and it spends a lot of time out, but sure that if you meet him in the house you will adore him!

Jabaquara is a really quiet beach where you can find a lot of cool bars and restaurants and take a drink looking at the wonderful view of the bay. There’s also a lot of activities to do, as kayak tour, stand-up, boat tour and why not, you can relax taking a massage on the beach, or take care of your skin using the natural mud near the mangroves!

It is safe and quiet also to come back in the night. During the day and until 8pm, there’s a bus (Circular) with scheduled time that bring you to the center and the bus station, but you can easily reach the main points of the city by walking in 15-20 minutes.
The difference of your stay in Jabaquara is that you are near nature, mountains in one side, the sea on the other side, and the mata atlantica around. We are sure that you will enjoy to stay in a little village inside the city.

  • I don't know where to start... It was more then perfect! I felt like at home.
I was traveling by myself, but with Giulia and Alfredo i didn't notice that.
The room with my own bathroom was great, Giulias Italian coffee and the Caipirinha too! They took me out to their friends, show me the nightlife of Paraty and i could forget that i was "only" a guest!
They are both very kindly, helpful and funny, and they are open minded and interested in foreign countrys and their culture.
But if u need privacy, u get it!

Last but not least they showed me the most bautiful beaches i've ever seen!!
I really enjoyed the time there and i was very sad to leave, even if i could not make friends with the mosquitos! :)

I would love to come back! Thanks a lot!!!!

  • I stayed at Giulia and Alfredo their great place together with my girlfriend. For 3 days we enjoyed the hospitality, tips, breakfasts, diner and drinks with them.
The room with private shower was very good.

  • What a lovely home stay! Giulia and Alfredo are amazing hosts in the little paradise of Paraty. Beautiful, clean and conformable room 5 min walk from the Jabaquara beach and 25 min scenic slow walk from the historical city center. The house has an incredible home feeling, with Dino the dog as the center of attention. I will totally recommend this for any solo traveller or couple opened to interact with two lovely hosts as Giulia an Alfredo! And if lucky you can even be invited to enjoy a dinner with their friends :)

  • Alfredo & Giulia gave my girlfriend & I a really warm welcome when we arrived & made us feel at home immediately. The room was clean, bright & well prepared. Alfredo & Giulia were great hosts throughout getting the balance just right between letting you get on with your own thing & sharing with us the sights & sounds of Paraty. They are knowledgable & reliable guides for what to do where & how. The walk to the historic centre is about 20 mins but is a nice walk. Highly recommend!

  • Wow! Where to begin. Alfredo and Guilia are two of the most amazing people I've ever met. They are multi lingual. Their english(for someone who has poor Spanish and no Portuguese), that made it so much better. The view from the house is beyond amazing! Dino, the dog, is quiet and sweet. Each morning there was a very fresh breakfast and Guilia would always make the best fresh juice. There are beaches within a 5 min walk. Internet works well. The room was exactly as described and comfortable. I was traveling alone and they went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and included. It was my 30th bday and they took me to the city center and out with their friends so I did not spend it alone in a foreign country. I can't say enough of this experience, so much so that I didn't want to leave and go back to Rio, but rather stay with them. I fully recommend staying with them in Paraty. Oh, also, Alfredo helped me book bus tickets( in Portuguese), and Guilia is well connected in the tourism of Paraty and made reservations for me for a jeep trip! It is my hope to see Guilia and Alfredo again somewhere in the world;)

  • It was just a guts feeling that made me apply for Alfredo & Giulias Place in Jabaquara, but it was the perfect choice. Both welcomed me with open arms and minds and turned out not only to be fantastic, caring and attentive hosts but also friends.

We shared intensive discussions about the world as it is, a charming day at the most secret beach of Trindade, they gave me tips, showed me tricks and even invited me to their circle of friends. And their lovely dog Bernardo just kind of adopted me and made sure, that I wasn’t bothered by other dogs at the beach – well, of course while he had fun with them :-))

The room and the bath were impeccably clean, comfy and functional and allowed privacy when needed. The area is safe and most places of interest can be easily reached by foot or bike. It’s the perfect place for anyone traveling who looks for an easy but peaceful and relaxing stay. I’ll make sure to visit Alfredo and Giulia again.

  • My husband and I had the most unforgettable experience with Giulia and Alfredo! We had the pleasure of staying with them for 3 nights and had the most incredible time. They are friendly, kind and so genuine; they make you feel like you're part of their family. We can't even begin to express their warmth and hospitality. They are the best hosts you'll ever meet. They suggested tours to take, places to eat, where to experience some Paraty night life, and provided us with all the information we needed.

Our room was perfect - overlooking a gorgeous jungle feel with the ocean in the background, and only minutes away from the beach. They have a lovely dog by the name of Bernadino; he's adorable and very friendly.

Giulia and Alfredo are an absolute delight! You'll fall in love with their town and everything it has to offer. My husband and I will definitely plan a return trip and there's no place else we would stay but with Giulia and Alfredo!

  • We did not actually stay here because we were unable to access our emails during our travels (we were staying in jungle in Ihla Grande). Giulia emailed us to establish what time we would arrive but we did not receive this so when we turned up on their doorstep, there was nobody there.
The house is situated very far out of Paraty. It is at the bottom of a housing estate with no bus's/taxis passing. We arrived with 2 huge bags and luckily the driver who dropped us off came back for us and brought us to a more centrally located residence.
Arrange an arrival time with hosts before you stay here or you could get deserted like us!

    Response from Giulia And Alfredo:

You made your reservation two months in advance and then you didn't contact us anymore. We did our best to stay in contact with you days before your arrival, sending messages and email, but you never answered. Ilha Grande is not only a jungle, there is internet and phone access and you had to make an effort to let us know about your arrival, for example just calling us from Paraty bus station. In the listing is very clear that this is not a hotel with 24 hours reception. It is also clear that we are at just 20 minutes by walking from the center and the bus station, as all the others guest's reviews confirm. And it is also easy to get to our place if you read the reservation confirmation email. We think that maybe you should read more carefully the listing and the Airbnb guidelines, in order to understand how the system works.

  • It was a pleasure to stay with Giulia in Paraty! The room was clean and has a nice view of nature. If was close to the beach and easy to find. Highly recommend it!

We love to travel (we got in love here in Paraty!), meet people from different cultures and countries and share our daily life in a magic town as Paraty. We believe that live near the nature and the sea, as to have the opportunity to look at the bay in moonlight it is a unique experience. Alfredo is an IT consultant and Giulia is a teacher and also works in touristic activities. We are totally involved with latin american popular culture. Alfredo also plays drums, Candombe (afro-uruguayan rhythm) and Maracatu (brazilian popular rhythm from the north-east). We used to participate in a little cultural space where various activities were carried out, as percussion and language lessons, yoga and a shared digital desktop with internet access. The cultural space is paused for the moment but we plan to have another one soon in the near future.
