Absolutely loved it. An exquisite house and site. The accommodation itself was perfect, decorated with great taste. Being able to enjoy the garden and swimming pool was a thrill.
Guillemette was so lovely to meet in person and made us the most amazing crossaints and breakfast every morning!
Using our handy gps we found the property, way back off the main road, very private and secluded behind a private gate you will find her amazing property and guest house (that we stayed in)
Make sure you look for the last name "D'Ambly" on the signs when you enter in the narrow streets, as it will point you to which way to go to find the house. I had to look back at my papers to find the last name.
One you find the house press the gate and the host (we met her son) let us in. The cute german shepard greeted us and was very friendly.
The property is beautiful and very true to a provencal home that we imagined, immaculate garden, nice outdoor patio area, pool, greenery everywhere. We were so glad we made it from busy London, we enjoyed this place so much. We had good weather but i can only imagine how amazing it would be in the summer time, being able to sit outside to eat breakfast.
The apartment is very private, clean, comfy bed, new furnishing and bathroom. The bathroom and bedroom area is seperated by a door where the host will wheel out a breakfast table for you to enjoy whenever you are ready. Some of the best crossaints I've had and even better than Paris!
Wifi was a little slow so that could be improved. We took her recommendation to head to lourmarin on way to gordes, rousillon, we loved it!
We didnt get to say Au Revior to Guillemette and her son on our way out, but the cute dog greeted us goodbye =)
My husband and I stayed at Guillemette's lovely guesthouse for 3 nights, (phone number hidden). We were let into the property through a security gate and warmly greeted by her teenage son and the family's friendly young dog Iota. Her son gave us the keys to the suite, the electronic device to open and close the gate, and walked us into the unit. He showed us how breakfast is delivered on a cart from the main house to the unit via a hallway where the shower room and the separate toilet room are located.
Even though the spacious unit is attached to the main house, it was quiet and peaceful. There is a large solid wood door between the unit and the hallway that can be locked for privacy and serves as a buffer to any noise from the main house. The only inconvenience of this is that you must unlock the door and walk down the hall to use the toilet if you get up at night. This was not a big deal to us.
We enjoyed waking up each morning to find the delightful breakfast cart of delicious croissants and rolls, a bottle of fruit juice, a bottle of milk, crunchy cereal, yogurt, a fresh fruit, and hot coffee...a great way to start the day!
This is the perfect place to stay if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city yet want to be close enough to drive into Aix to enjoy the wide variety of dining options and do some shopping. I emailed Guillemette to ask her to make dinner bookings in Aix for 2 nights, and she kindly did this for us as well as told us which restaurant was better located. Of course she was right on!
We had a very pleasant stay at Guillemette´s place. We felt like at home at this beautiful property. The pool, the garden and the view from the room was very nice. Guillemette was very helpful and gave as some nice tips. Her french breakfast was a real treat.
We would love to came back some time.
