HIKERS~ Wonderful spring climbing is coming up. We will open again in April and hope to host some of you!
Bedroom and large family-type room and great bathroom with hand-built wooden tub in in back part of our home for real privacy. Extensive gardens and a large deck for strolling and sitting. Perfect location for hiking, climbing and biking - and a great swimming hole down the road in the Baker River. Rock climbing at the famous Rumney Rocks, the Appalachian Trail goes through the town, Baker and Pemi Rivers close by for terrific kayaking or canoeing - an outdoor lover's paradise! We're an easy distance from Plymouth State University, Squam Lake (AKA "Golden Pond"), Franconia Notch and the Flume, Loon and Waterville Mountains. We have a small pool built into the deck which is available in the warmest months and great fun for kids.
Suitable for a single person, a couple or family with one or two children. Bedroom has comfortable double bed and large "family" room has fold out queen size futon-type bed. There is also a loft suitable for an older child or young adults with a queen size air mattress.
House is charming and quiet on 10 acres. We are at the edge of a small town right next to the White Mountain National Forest. Nice art, good books, games and children's toys.
No TV or cell phone service but wireless high speed internet.
Breakfast is do-it-yourself - we'll put out cereals, farm-fresh eggs, breads and so on. We can accommodate lactose and gluten free needs. Modest restaurants in the two towns on either side of us. Plymouth with its University is 15 miles away and the town has many dining and browsing and shopping (website hidden) well as cultural events (In the summer the NH Music Festival has concerts 2 or 3 times a week)
A NOTE ABOUT PRICING: $65 for one or two people using only the bedroom. $20 additional if one person uses second room and $40 if two people use second room. In other words, 2 people in 1 room = $65, 2 or 3 people in two rooms = $85. 4 people in two rooms - $100. If a young person in loft, another $20. Please ask if you have questions about this!
NOTE ABOUT MORE GUESTS: It is sometimes possible to rent the entire house (once or twice a year) in which case request a pricing sheet). As many as ten people can stay in this case.
The whole back wing of the house is available, and the kitchen may be used to snacks, for making lunches to go, and of course for breakfast.
We aren't equipped to put a lot of guest food in our 'fridge, but with advance notice can give some space.
In good weather, sitting on the deck which you can access from the family room of the guest wing and strolling the garden and fields are options.
If you want to use the local swimming hole in the river, we will make sure you have swimming towels, etc.
We are here to greet and offer advice about the area.
We are completely secluded yet within a few minute reach of a swimming hole in the Baker River, a simple town tennis court, ponds and lakes, hiking trails - and a bit further off many famous attractions - The Flume, Franconia Notch, and much more.
No local transport.
lots of good books, games and a guitar are happily shared
This garden setting is perfect for vacation. There are beautiful and comfortable be room ,bathroom and very cool living room . Deborah and his husband are very very nice . Because we were busy on travelling around so we do not have a lot of time to get along with them. But we are pretty sure that we are going to make same choice if we go there next time !
Deborah's setting is tucked away in a perfect hideaway near Appalachian trail and Mt Moosilauke. We connected
With the warmth and heartfelt hospitality of our host's home and
Personalities. We were visiting Dartmouth and it was worth the trip out of Hanover. A very sweet visit indeed.
Deborah's place is absolutely great. The house is very nice and comfortable and the view into the garden is great. Deborah and her husband Ash are very friendly and gave us good hints for our visit in the White Mountains. We definitely recommend this place and would stay there again!
The reservation was canceled 2 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I fell and broke my hip just before my guests were to come, and since I had to go to hospital for surgery reluctantly had to cancel on short notice. I offered to try and find an alternative by computer from my hospital room, but they sent a note saying they were fine and understood. The couple were so sweet - they sent me a note today saying they hoped I was getting better!
Deborah and Ash were such nice hosts and made our stay very very nice. The House is very comfortable and it was overall a great experience to stay here. It was like coming home to my moms house, we even got some cookies and brownies that they made that day. The breakfest is really nice, Deborah had fresh fruit from local farms ready for us which was a great treat.
Thank you so much for a great stay and lovely conversations, when we are back in the area we will definitely stay with you again.
Deb and Ash were friendly and easygoing. We felt welcome and comfortable. The room is clean and cozy, and the gardens are gorgeous. We hope to come back!
Deborah and her husband Ash were friendly and gracious hosts, who went out of their way to ensure we were more then comfortable, and had a delicious spread for breakfast with local, organic, free range options from eggs and milk, to fresh baked multigrain bread, and tons of fresh fruit, delicious french press coffee and juice. The farmhouse was beautiful, with a thoughtful country style, and comfortable bed and convertible futon that were both proven to provide an excellent night sleep. Deborah had "child proofed" the rooms as much as possible for our friends 18 month old, and also had childrens books readily available. The garden outdoors is beautiful, and we can see why they are listed on the local Garden Tour! We hope to return and stay with Deborah and Ash again, and would recommend them to anyone considering a visit to the beautiful mountain towns of Central New Hampshire.
