I really liked this house - good energy, good views, clean and spacious. I wish it had a newer TV as I needed to use it to project some stuff but the cables and ports were dated. Otherwise, it was a lovely venue.
Beautiful home! Once we arrived, everything was as stated. We had enough cookware and towels, we didn't need to run out or bring anything from home to complete meals. Other than the food we cooked ourselves, everything was provided for! We had a very relaxing stay. Thank you!!
Christa and Mark run a great place. Clear communication, explaining everything you need. Responded to emails quickly. House has an amazing outdoor set up with firepit, hot tub and long table for dining. Since this isn't their home, house was nice but bare. Two bedrooms, two baths and another bed in the living room. Lots of cooking supplies for whipping up yummy meals. Thanks!
I rented The Rio House for a little weekend desert retreat with some friends and had an amazing time. The house is well appointed with 3 large bedrooms, a nice kitchen/dining area and an amazing backyard. There are lots of supplies throughout the house, from cooking implements (including a blender, food processor and more) to pantry essentials (spices, oil, condiments) to cleaning supplies, towels and linens. The house is located less than 1 mile from the Joshua Tree National Park entrance, so it was easy to pop into the park and check out the crazy trees and cool landscapes. The night sky from the backyard was mesmerizing-minimal light pollution and millions of stars. Christa & Mark were great at communicating, both prior to the trip and when we had a issue during our stay, and resolved the issue reasonably and quickly. Checking in and out was super easy & didn't require coordinating meeting up with anyone-they provide the door code & instructions. I loved my trip here and would happily return!
This is a great place to stay. It has everything that you would have at home and yet it is in Joshua Tree - how great is that! We loved it. Clean and inviting. Outdoor grill and Jacuzzi. Wow!
The house was perfect for anyone looking to have a nice get away in Joshua Tree. Very close to the park and a great hot tub and grill for enjoying the evenings. Mark and Christa were quick to respond and friendly. Highly recommend staying at this or any of their other properties.
Christa & Mark were able to take a last minute request. I heard back & booked this quickly, which was great.
The house - airbnb pictures were accurate for space, furniture, storage, and incredible cleanliness. Very thoughtful hosts - coffee fixings & dishes were plentiful, light switches were labeled, house had no personal clothes/pictures etc so it felt very welcoming.
Only downside- had limited to no cell reception at the house and internet is satellite, which means you can check email but really that's it. That said, the peace & quiet was well worth the trade off.

A number of years ago we were in Seattle living the corporate life... and lost ourselves, or at least lost what was important to us. So, we decided to sell our home with everything in it, buy a small motorhome with solar panels and travel the U.S. for what came to be 6 wonderful, beautiful, inspiring years. We settled here in Joshua Tree a few years ago and now live a simple life with our son Asher and dog, Amante. Hosting guests at our rentals allows us to be at home with our son and we love it! We also love to hike, rock climb, travel, stare up at the stars, watch the wildlife in our backyard, and enjoy our diverse group of friends that make the desert their home as well.
We own two of our vacation rentals and manage the others full time. Our website is Moonlight Mesa Retreats. We are happy to help with questions about our area and share any knowledge we might have.
