The Space

- Renovated in July 2013, this flatlet in a 300-year old building was designed around a creative balance of the traditional and the contemporary.

- Ten minutes walk from the country's central bus terminus, Valletta's two main beaches, numerous restaurants, cafes, shops, theatres and museums. Grocery store across the street, with ample parking spots.

- An eclectic mix of vintage & art pieces collected over the years by the owner-architect and his gallerist partner.

- Totally independent, sleeps two, set on first floor and situated in one of the most beautiful residential streets of Valletta: Strada San Paolo.

- Layout includes entrance hall, kitchen/living/dining area, bedroom and independent bathroom.

- Orthopaedic slatted bed frame supporting a high quality memory-foam mattress to ensure a good night's sleep.

- Finishes include restored traditional apertures, hexagon Maltese tiles, lime walls, marble & 'belle époque' tiles in bathroom.

- Ensured thermal comfort from ceiling fans, air-conditioning and underfloor heating.

- Designed for couples who appreciate design, art and architecture...with a vintage twist! Not recommended for children under seven years of age.

  • Had a great stay at this super cool apartment -- designed and decorated very intelligently (including with regards to energy efficiency) and with style. In a great location in the heart of Valletta....steps to restaurants, shops and sights. A very charming and comfortable flat, and I slept very well on the great bed. There is some street noise.

Not a great place to do major cooking, as there is only a portable stove top and no oven, but there is enough space if you just want to have breakfast in the flat.

The hosts were welcoming and offered drinks in the fridge for your arrival, plus some dining and shopping tips....all very well organized, and they are responsive to concerns.

    Response from Chris:

We apologise for the works in the neighbouring property, Taryn, and yes: the noisy fridge has been now replaced with a new Smeg retro one! We are glad you liked the design and location of VV and as a sign of courtesy, we did not charge you for the extra night :)

  • Absolutely loved VV & recommended it to several people even whilst still in Malta! Great location, fantastic looking apartment & super comfy bed. I carried Chris' booklet with me everywhere and tried to sample all his recommendations, but was defeated by a long day chasing my lost mobile phone and another spent diving. Chris & Anna were very accommodating and I would definitely stay here again if I returned to Malta!

  • The apartment was simply stunning, a perfect balance of vintage and
industrial style in an idyllic location, far enough way from the
hubbub of the centre of town but close enough to dip in and out of
Valletta's vibe and literally dip or dive into the nearby sea ( be
wary of jelly fish though! ). Being a hobbying interior designer
myself with a penchant for modern retro, I can't fault it, the
attention to detail is particularly satisfying.
Chris the owner is not only a great architect and interior designer
but a super host and gave us some excellent tips of what to visit and
where to eat. He even managed to get us a table in the gloriously
located Harbour Club ( also beautifully designed by Chris ).
Originally we were tempted to stay over in Sliema or St Julian's but
having visited the other side for just 10 minutes we caught the bus
back to the safe haven of Valetta and our Vintage heaven.
I cannot recommend it enough !

  • I had a wonderful stay at Chris' apartment: the retro, homely feel and the location made that i really enjoyed my stay in Valletta. The only minus i can think of was the lack (email hidden), as i was bothered a lot by these little creatures at night :-(
Living in the middle of the old city full of atmosphere, within walking distance of the whole city, including the bus station (start of many trips to the island's beautiful sites): i can highly recommend it.
Chris was organising Malta Design Week and made sure to invite me to the opening night: so nice!

  • We enjoyed this comfortable appartment a lot: In the middle of the old town, near nice restaurants. good information in the appartement, super bed, nice shower, an appartment made with care. Only those who want to cook an extraordinary dinner at the appartment - but who wants to do this during their holiday? - should look further.

  • The flat is amazing and very-well located, a perfect place to discover La Valetta. Chris & Sarah are really welcoming and helpful. The restaurants they advise us were great !

  • VV was just as good as in the photos! Chris was very welcoming and willing to help us out during our stay. We traveled to Malta for our wedding and honeymoon and could not have been happier with the quality and location of VV. We would recommend it to anybody wishing for an authentic Maltese holiday.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Chris' very stylish and comfortable apartment. It is in a great location - very close to the heart of Valletta, with small shops and restaurants nearby.
Chris is very friendly and was helpful throughout answering all our questions and recommending places to go.
Facilities in the apartment are generally very good - but with only one hot plate it my not be for those who want to do a lot of self catering. However it suited us very well.
We would thoroughly recommend Vintage Valletta as a place to stay.

  • We've loved this apartment from the moment we booked it! We had a great stay at this unusually original place, which was also very comfortable, practical and cosy.
Thank you as well for your kind welcome and for being available!
The venue comes also with a fine selection of recommended places to go. We would have loved to try them all!
We'll keep a great memory of this stay in Malta, thank you.

Hey there! I am a Maltese architect who loves art and design, music and travelling. My partner Anna and I greatly enjoy meeting and working with people from different nationalities and backgrounds. I was brought up in medieval Birgu, Anna is from Minsk, and today we just love living and working in Valletta, Malta's busy capital by day which calms down and becomes truly enchanting by night. We believe that the best and most authentic travel experiences are about meeting the locals, spending some time with them, and living in their homes and by their ways. This is why we love AIRBNB; both as hosts and as guests... Well done for such a great idea, AIRBNB, and look forward to hosting you on our beautiful island or meeting you in your home!
