  • As this was my first Airbnb...I was a bit nervous. People exclaimed, "you're staying in a stranger's home?!" turned out that I had nothing to worry about! Anne and Carl were gracious hosts...even waiting up until 11pm for our very late arrival...and had no problem with our daughter's extremely late arrival at 3am. They seemed like old friends from the moment they greeted my husband and me. Their home was warm, inviting and gorgeous. Their property was deer sightings during our stay, unfortunately, which I learned was pretty unusual. Highly recommend!

  • Anne and Carl were fantastic hosts and they have a beautiful home. The house is in a lovely peaceful spot with a pretty garden and patio where you can sit and watch the hummingbirds. Anne and Carl couldn't have done more for us. They made lots of suggestions about things to do in the area and were always on hand to answer questions. The breakfasts were superb (Carl's blueberry pancakes and Anne's lobster quiche were fantastic!).

Very highly recommended - we just wish we could have stayed longer!

  • Anne and Carl were wonderful hosts. Their home, in all aspects, is perfectly suited for a beautiful experience in New England/southern Connecticut. We were 2 couples who have known each other for more than 30 years but seldom meet as we live on different continents. We met at the Clement's and spent a perfect 3 day weekend. They helped us with various little travel questions/problems, including a flat tire. They have a wealth of information and are happy to share it. Breakfasts were great. We would highly recommend them and their home.

  • I spent a weekend here with my father and sister, so we occupied both of the cozy upstairs guest bedrooms. Anne and Carl were incredibly friendly, sweet and accommodating; breakfast spreads were generous and scrumptious (blueberry pancakes! fresh-baked pumpkin bread! smoothies! a delicious frittata that they kindly made with egg whites to accommodate my dad's dietary needs!). The house, though not too difficult to find, is tucked away in the woods. Very peaceful and secluded, with gorgeous views of the changing leaves. The nearby towns were fun, and our hosts offered lots of good suggestions of things to do. For a weekend away from the city, this was even better than we could have hoped!

  • For anyone with friends or family visiting CT this is the place to have them stay. I would even recommend CT residents who want a great weekend away from home down near the shore. Anne and Carl make staying at a wonderful house an even more enjoyable stay with their friendliness and amazing breakfasts.

  • We had a fabulous stay with Anne and Carl. Their retreat is perfect in every way. Our favorite memories include: conversations with our hosts, hummingbird observations, breakfast on the patio, and enjoying their thoughtfully designed home and gardens.

  • This was my family's first Airbnb stay and it was fantastic with Anne and Carl. My parents, little sister, boyfriend and I stayed over Memorial Day weekend and had our expectations exceeded when we were welcomed into their home. They were more than accommodating when they offered their loft area with an air mattress for my little sister. Their house is charming and it was great to get to know Anne and Carl who were extraordinary hosts. The rooms were perfect with comfortable beds and pillows, closet space, some snacks and water, bath robes and lots of character. Anne and Carl made my whole family a delicious breakfast each morning and made sure we had directions to wherever we were going that day. We were able to explore parts of CT we never knew even existed and thanks to one of Anne's recommendations we stumbled upon a beautiful town called Essex where we spent a lot of our time. Their house is close to Gillette Castle, Old Saybrook, Mystic, Essex, and yet offered us the peace and quiet we were looking for coming from NYC. We wish we had more time to explore the area, but thanks to our great hosts we were able to see and do many great things! We couldn't have had a better first Airbnb experience.

  • This was a fantastic experience! I was in town for work and house hunting, Carl's breakfasts are the greatest thing to wake up to before an early adventure. Anne and Carl are very cool people and we appreciated the opportunities to chat with them. The whole experience was like staying with family/friends.

  • On a very cold weekend, my partner and I wished to visit museums in the towns of Old Lyme (the "Flo Gris" museum showing Walker Evans for a few more weeks) and Essex (the CT River Museum, which has great exhibits in addition to a huge model train display). Anne and Carl were wonderful hosts, and their house was not only beautiful, but warm and inviting with its radiant heat underfoot! (Did I already say it was cold that weekend?) The breakfast was delicious, and Anne was kindly asked ahead of time what our wishes might be, and what allergies to avoid. I highly recommend the CT Retreat. I slept better than I had in a while!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Carl and Anne! If we could give it ten stars we would. The house is beautiful and extremely clean. The natural light in every room, soothing decor, and private wooded lot make it so easy to relax. Before arriving they were very good about answering any questions we had. Once there, they were so helpful with recommendations for restaurants, directions and anything else we needed. They thought of Everything in our room. From toiletries you may have forgotten, to great reading material, bathrobes, and even an extra fan for warm blooded people like my husband. If you want lots of privacy or someone lovely to chat with they'll happily give you either. We can not say enough good things about our stay. From the moment we met them, they made us feel like old friends. .
