  • I wasn't going to write a review. I stayed one night in this apartment. Milan was hot and humid. Check-in did not go as planned. I never met the host.

I booked the room a month in advance. Before I purchased train tickets into Milan, I contacted host to approve my planned arrival time of 6-7 PM. He approved.

Hours before catching my train to Milan, I received an email from the host saying if I don't check-in by 6 PM, he will not be able to do check-in until 9:30 PM. My train was due in at 5:55 PM. I wrote host to provide Italian cell. I said I'd jump into a cab as soon as I got off the train. Of course, just before train got into Milan, it stopped on tracks. I called the host to warn. Train was ten minutes late. I get to the taxi line to discover taxis are on strike. I called the host. He suggested I take subway. I have no subway experience in Milan. I was burdened with 60+ pounds of film equipment. I could not see a fast, easy, or safe option with the subway. He asked if he could meet me at the apartment at 9:30 PM. Exhaustedly, I said OK.

I went to the nearest hotel. Used a lobby computer to (website hidden) host's address. Forgot to pack a detailed map of the route. Wrote down directions on paper. Walked to host's apartment. It was very hot and humid. The walk took about 20-30 minutes with heavy luggage. I waited 3+ hours.

At 9:35, I called the host, and he said someone was on his way. I was in the apartment by 10 PM, in bed by 10:15. With the taxi strike, had to walk back to train station the following morning at 7 AM to make 11 AM flight. The host was asleep when I left his apartment. The same guy who let me in the night before appeared in the hall to see me out. I assume he had spent the night.

Cold water from the small fridge was offered to me upon arrival, but all I could find was carbonated. I prefer natural, so luckily I had my own, but it was very warm.

Air conditioning is a main reason I picked the apartment. There was no AC on when I arrived. I couldn't find an AC unit. I woke up soaking wet from the heat and humidity.

The bedrooms face the street. When the windows are open, you hear the noise. No screens. Shutters only. It's a good thing I travel with earplugs and deet.

If I had to do it over again, I'd book any hotel near the train station that offered AC and was within walking distance. For $30 extra, I would have had a cool, stress-free arrival, and I might have been able to go out to a nice dinner without schlepping 60+ pounds of luggage with me.

    Response from Devis:

hello Wesley. Your train has arrived with large delay and unfortunately binding tasks not have allowed me to welcome you immediately. Fabio waited for you (we are the owners) until after 7 but I do not understand why you're not jumped in the taxi promptly as you said. Anyway, check in on my profile is flexible for both, the guest and host with according. Sometimes I waited guests hours and hours for normal delays or mistakes. This is normal. We are not a hotel, but a home where we live with all that good or not that entails. You can choose us at a fair price, or at 90 euro as you suggest in the shady hotel near the station. The hotels in the city center have perfect comfort at over 150/200 euro per night per person. I belive that i have explained that clearly. Clearly as my reference are wrote in the website.

  • Devis was very friendly and his house well decorated. Bed- and bathroom were clean. The house was well located in Milano. We used our foldingbikes and find it usefull that the house had an elevator. Devis, thanks for being our host for 2 nigths.

  • Devis' apartment is very centrally located with access to two metro lines (green line M2 to Milano Centrale/Naviglio Grande and red line M1 to the Duomo) which makes traveling around very convenient! It is also walkable to Corso Bueno Aires the huge shopping street and there is a Carrefour express around the corner.
The room is clean and spacious and I especially liked the huge desk! Devis was also very kind and allowed me to leave my bags at the apartment after checkout whilst I waited for my evening train.

  • Devis' place was great! It's in a really nice location for Milan! The apartment is bright, open and big. The big open window in the bedroom was my favorite part, the view is good. The bed is comfortable (but the pillows were flat ... But not a big deal) .. Devis was accommodating and was available if we needed him. He spoke good English and communication was easy! Thanks Devis!
