Sit back and enjoy the surrounding beauty - Island style!
The neighbourhood that Bohemian Digs is located in is a family friendly quiet street. Yes, we do have neighbours.

Bohemian Digs is a family run affair and we have quiet time after 10pm.
We value respect and privacy. We wish to make your stay as wonderful as possible.
Rooms are comfortable. Kitchen is spacious though no food in it as is customary with most airbnb's. Bath is nice. Location is about 13 minutes to Ganges and 6 minutes to ferry at vesuvius. Quiet n'hood. The suite of rooms is in back downstairs and nicet than the front of the house. This is self-checkin and we never met our host which I don't like, though we see that in maybe 10% of our airbnbs. We from the us couldn't use texts in Canada but this place has wifi for emails.
My sister and I booked this basement apartment for 4 nights. We left after one night. The ad said entire home and I guess I was fooled. There was no living space, so nowhere to comfortably sit down. When sitting at the kitchen table, we couldn't get our legs under the table. There were no wine glasses or corkscrew. The young man who greeted came down as soon as I asked. There were no loungers in the backyard, just a couple of plastic Adirondacks. There was no literature on the island. Needless to say, I feel that the place was not properly advertised. We were also disappointed that Karena never even bothered to contact me to learn about what happened. Airbnb didn't respond to emails I sent asking for a partial refund.
Virginia I'm so sorry that your sister and you had such a terrible time at our suite and on Salt Spring Island. I am very clear in my description of the rooms, furniture and other details about Bohemian Digs. I am also very clear to mention that it IS a suite. In the description category, entire house/apmt is the only option that airbnb gives when explaining the accommodation. That's why I make a point of saying it again in the description. Our home is a slab on grade. We don't have a basement. The wine glasses and corkscrew (among other things) often walk off when we aren't looking. We try to keep on top of this, but occasionally it gets past us.
The plastic Adirondack chairs are what my husband and I sit on in the back garden. We love them! The suite is filled with books such as "Hiking the Southern Gulf Islands", "Finding your way around Salt Spring", maps of the island, the local phone book and even books by local authors.
Work had taken me to Vancouver when you arrived so my husband welcomed you, helped you with your bags and brought you everything on your list, as soon as you requested it. I also sent you an email the day after you arrived, which you never responded to.
Bohemian Digs is an affordable and convenient place for people to come who want to experience Salt Spring Island. We have been helping people from all over the world to enjoy our little piece of paradise.
BTW - We live in a great, family friendly neighbourhood - which IS an awesome reflection of what Salt Spring Island is!
Karena and her husband were extremely hospitable. They spent time with us to explain the surroundings, give advice on where to go, what to do and not do, etc. We felt very much at home.
The house is well located in a residential neighborhood with easy access to everything on the island.
Everything in the house was clean and comfortable.
My wife did not love the bed in the master bedroom but I thought it was fine.
The large backyard was great for the kids to run around, play ball, etc.
Bohemian Digs is a perfect little apartment for a stay on Salt Spring Island. The two bedrooms have two comfortable beds, a fully equipped kitchen and really nice shower. The property is very close to a swimming hole at Mary's Lake and quite close to Gange for all of the tourist attractions in the town. We were able to go to the market in town, enjoy fresh fish, enjoy the beautiful sunset and partake in 3 wine tours and a brewery tour. We also had a wonderful 3 hour kayak tour with tea on chocolate beach. Bohemian Digs is a hidden gem. Karena is a wonderful host :)
Just by chance we met the owners when they were walking dogs, and were very chatty. As it was very hot when we were there, it was lovely to come to a cool apartment. We liked the location as it was near our family, quiet and had an amazing backyard space. The bathroom was beautiful, and the beds were comfy. We felt the kitchen needed a proper dining table and chairs, as it was difficult to sit at. As this was the only area to sit at, as there was no living room, a sofa or nicer chairs outside. Although we know that Saltspring is very safe, we would have liked to have been able to lock up the apartment. We loved the wildflower arrangement and fresh fruit waiting for us.
We were greeted very nicely. The place was spotless clean and exactly as we expected. The backyard is spectacular and we enjoyed the trees and lawn. The neighborhood is very quiet and close to lake Mary were we went swimming. I do recommend the place 100%. The hosts were very nice and we had a very nice chat with them.
We did not see our host during our three day stay. A few brochures were left on the table. The linen was fresh and plentiful for three people. The suite faced the back of the property, onto a lovely backyard. It was comfortable having two separate bedrooms, each with a double bed. What we missed was having a couch in the common area which was the kitchen. The seating provided was a few chairs, and a leather bench with a back situated around the kitchen table. One had to retreat to one of the bedrooms to relax, read a book, etc. We were not provided with a key to the premises. Locking up upon retiring was possible, but not when leaving the premises. The location was very central, easy to get to the various wonderful hiking trails, and lakes, at different locations throughout the island. It was also only a few minutes to get to Ganges. The Saturday market was certainly a highlight and well worth the visit.
