The beauty of this neighbourhood increases in the winter. The lake and sky look different every day and the hiking is magical. Plows are frequent for easy driving conditions.
Wireless internet is available for an additional cost. There is a digital antenna for local tv stations.
Many of our neighbours are only here in the summer so the winter is a quiet, introspective time. There is the occasional winter jogger or dog walker but the neighbourhood is at its most peaceful in the winter.
The winter is an incredible time to stay in our cozy cottage in Gasline. The park and beach are perfect for cross country skiing, snowshoeing or hiking. The lake is frozen and offers the possibility of ice fishing. The blanket of snow creates a deep silence unlike any other time of year and the constellations scream from the winter sky.
Lisa's cabin was exactly what she said it would be! Cozy, well-equipped, and decorated with so many interesting pieces! We really appreciated being able to bring our pet along, too. Lisa was quick to communicate, very flexible with check-in, and even left us some wine to enjoy. The cabin is also only a 5 minute walk from the lakeshore. I highly recommend this cabin as a little getaway!
Lisa's place was great! Everything was clean and comfy and the location is great- right on the lake! It is also close to many conservation areas that were great for hiking. It was very serene and private, barely a soul around, though I imagine it gets much busier in the summer. All in all a great stay! Thanks so much, Lisa!
My husband and I stayed in this cute, quirky cottage for 7 nights in August. We felt very relaxed, enjoying the hammock in the backyard, gas grill for cooking, and the sandy beach a few steps away. The kitchen was fully stocked and spacious, and we were able to cook several of our meals there. Although there are mosquitos this time of year, Lisa set up an outdoor pavilion that's screened in where we enjoyed most of our meals. I loved laying out on the hammock, listening to the birds, trees, and outdoor pond with fountain. I especially loved the quiet. We chose this place because it was away from the hustle and bustle of a city, but close enough to get to Niagara-on-the-lake and Toronto, plus the incredible Niagara wine region. We couldn't have been happier with our choice. The accommodation was clean, stocked with kitchen supplies, propane for the grill, toiletries, etc, but is not a luxury accommodation - more casual in nature. The A-frame cottage is quirky and fun architecturally. We both like to exercise each morning, and found that the friendship trail (an old railroad track) was a great place to run, walk, and bike. This trail is easily accessible from the cottage. Lisa also has a kayak, and we enjoyed a day of kayaking on the lake (Cedar Bay). She also has two bikes, which we used on the trails. Overall, I would say this experience was extremely positive. I feel rejuvenated, as if I've been at a spa for a week. And the price can't be beat! For those with small children or traveling with the elderly, there are a set of steep stairs leading to the bedroom upstairs which might be tricky. Oh, and our dog loved the yard and the beach!
Great home, quick drive to Niagara on the Lake, The Falls, Toronto, and the very interesting Crystal Beach; thanks to Lisa & Reuben for being so accommodating with our late arrival.
Great comfortable cabin in a beautiful spot with everything you could need. Lisa was really helpful / picking us up from the local town because we didn't have a car and offering lots of knowledge about the area and getting around.
My boyfriend and i had an amazing stay @ Lisa's cottage. The place was extremely clean, with clean dishes, clean floors and a clean bathroom. She provided us with lots of kitchen gadgets including toaster oven, dishwasher and bbq. Lisa was extremely accommodating and even came back within a specified time to replace the propane tank when it was empty. While the beach was a five minute walk from the cottage, it wasnt safe for swimming. But Crystal beach was only a 15 minute drive.
We would definitely come back to stay if we're ever in town again.
