Very enjoyable stay at Buzz and Maria's studio. Very nicely furnished, very comfortable bed and pillows. Very much appreciated Buzz's suggestions for places to eat. Definitely recommend.
I stay with my friend at Buzz and Maria's studio in Guanajuato for a weekend and it is WONDERFUL!, very clean, in a good location, just 20min walking to the city center and it has an amazing view besides all the necessary services.
Buzz is a very kind person, always willing to help and to give advice and recommend nice places to see and eat in the city. We spend a very nice weekend at their place. I definitely recommend it!
Maria y Buzz son muy amables y serviciales. El departamento es precioso y está muy bien equipado. No nos hizo falta nada. El departameto está muy accecible al centro de la ciudad. Ya estamos planeando regresar el próximo año!
The Studio at Casa de Maria in Quanaxhuato was perfect: spotlessly clean, beautifully tiled & appointed, super comfortable bed & pillows, spectacularly quaint views ~ one looking out from huge windows in the kitchen, another standing in the driveway facing mount Bufa, still another overlooking the city, & more ever-changing all the way into town.
Buzz & Maria are good people. Buzz picked me up from the bus station in Leon, & gave me a ride downtown when the alley that takes one downtown was blocked due to celebrations. Maria invited me to warm up by the fire with her family one night & brought me some incredibly tasty home-made fruit punch the next day. Buzz has a great sense of humor & is fond of saying “How far art thou?”
The afternoon i arrived, there was a flock of sheep grazing right outside their driveway & their adorable brown & black kitten, Cosita, jumped right up on the bed & curled up next to me for a nap. Later that night i saw three wild horses. The next day as i walked into town, i passed goats sharing a little field with multi-colored roosters. On my way back a neighborhood boy gave me directions when i got lost & then neighborhood dogs escorted me up the hill. The dogs, wolves, & coyotes howl like crazy at night, but, for me, it just added to the ambiance & i slept thru it, safe & secure in their house, like a baby.
The lovely & always interesting walk downhill to El Centro from Casa de Maria takes about 45 minutes on foot. Don’t worry if you get a little lost, all roads lead to the center ~ just be sure to dodge the cars on the narrow or non-existant sidewalks! The hike on the way back is like increasing the slope on the Stairmaster every few minutes. Don't worry, buses pass by every 10 minutes & taxis are everywhere, costing only $35-50 pesos to take you to or from most places.
The Cervantino Festival, Dia De Los Meurtos, the valley & the town of Quanaxhuato were unbelievably cool ~ Classical & Latin American musical performances in beautiful churches & out on the street... dancing Catrinas & skeletons (i saw a free, 90-minute multi-media tribute to Jose Luis Posada at Teatro Juarez that i will never forget)... world-class art museums like Museo Iconografico del Quixote & Museo y Casa de Diego Rivera (with impressive special exhibitions)... superior Mexican food everywhere with many vegetarian options: La Victoriana & Villa Maria Christina nearby; La Capellina, Habibti falafel & Cafe Tal in El Centro; Natura for organic food.
The people of Quanaxhuato are warm, welcoming, patient, and graceful. They know how to party & they do it often, but they do it with dignity ~ no drunken debauchery, no litter on the streets.
Such good times, i stayed for a month, didn't want to leave, extended my stay for 10 days more…

Buzz & Maria were great hosts during our weekend stay in Guanajuato. Lovely welcome, even throughout we arrived very late.
The house is absolutely amazing, great views over the city, very well maintained and a delight to stay. Very short distance walk into the old center of Guanajuato.
Would definitely recommend!
Through our small tour through Mexico we had the chance to stay with Buzz and Maria. This was a great experience. We had a wonderful time and the room was great. If we ever go back to Guanajuato this will be our first choice for a place to stay... Thanks Buzz and Maria for a wonderful time....
Really nice & quiet apartment, but not far away from the city. You feel like home. Maria & Buzz are also friendly. If I will visit the city once again, I will book the department again. I just can recomend the department.
We really enjoyed our stay with Buzz and Maria. They are excellent hosts, a very warm and gracious couple. The studio is very comfortable and quiet, the sheets are clean and the towels are new and fluffy. The bed was very comfortable.
The parking is a little bit steep. My Jeep that I keep in Guanajuato is a quadra drive though so once I got over MY initial fear of the grade I had no trouble parking and un-parking every day. We used my Jeep to get out to my horses each day and returned to Buzz and Maria's before dark each day and then in the evening we walked down into town. The walk into Guanajuato Centro is quick, about 15 minutes mas o menos to the Jardin Union and the cab ride back up was 35 pesos. The room rates were very good value for what we received and as a bonus, one night Maria had us in for pizza that her father made and it was the best pizza I've eaten in Mexico.
A beautiful place in the mountains above the city center! Our space was clean and well appointed, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Maria and Buzz were exceptionally generous and helpful, recommending delicious fruits and helping us find our way to hiking trails. It was a delight to stay here!
