WE'VE UPGRADED with New amenities along with new furniture and lower rates as an incentive for everyone to experience this incredible city . It is truly one of the many wonders of the world. Seemingly isolated from the hustle and bustle of todays rat race. Many of our guests have said, " I feel like I'm back in the " 50's" again. You will have see, hear, taste and feel the vibe of the city to believe it. Guanajuato is the, "Real Mexico"........

The space

We welcome you to our beautiful light filled apartment nestled at the foot of the majestic Mount Bufa natural preserve. It has a fully equipped kitchen with private patio. Free parking right at your door with open access laundry facilities and your own secured private entrances. The habitat is classic colonial style....... There are hand made tiles throughout, colonial styled boveda ceiling, private bathroom with individual shower covered in handmade talavera tile, and very hot water. It is fully furnished with beautiful artisan hand carved furniture and a strong Fibre-Optic Wi-Fi signal / 20 MG's High speed Internet. It is ideal for couples and single’s who wish to stay and work on long or short term projects. It has a queen size bed, a task desk, executive chair, futon sofa bed and study corner. The view from the private patio is not only breath taking but inspirational. Enjoy living in the country while being just minutes away from the center of downtown.

This, colonial refuge has a panoramic view of the city which is painted in all the colors of the rainbow on one side and the pristine Mount Bufa Preserve on the other. Our place is clean and quiet, and located in one of the safest neighborhoods in town. Speaking of safety, we're ranked among the top 3 safest cities in all of Mexico. ( Our guests have commented feeling safe while walking the streets at night)...The natural wildlife and variety of colorful native birds attract bird watchers. Many are surprised to see at their front doors occasional free range cattle, mules, horses or goats that come from the tops of the mountain to visit. (They love raw vegetables and fruit) You can walk right out your back door and hike up to those impressive rock formations of Mount Bufa & Los Picachos, especially if you love a good place to reflect, study and meditate or even hike, run, or ride a bike , this is the perfect place with mountain trails at every turn . The air up here is clean and unpolluted with plenty of sunshine. Guanajuato also sponsors many sporting events such as car, foot, bike and swimming races, along many other activities that will capture your attention.

So you can choose to be rejuvenated and refreshed by enjoying our protected local state parks. Or take a 10-15 minute bus or taxi ride to the center of town for theaters, restaurants, museums, nightclubs, coffee houses and the list goes on and on. There is literally a revolving calendar of live music, concerts , theater performances. along with many street artists , mimes and musicians who entertain passer's by both day and night... Especially during the month of October when we celebrate our International Cervantino Festival. It's the Mardi Gras of Mexico...(Very Exciting) With hosts from all around the world, drawing travelers and curiosity seekers . Yes Guanajuato has been considered an international treasure. It is a UNESCO city that is under constant restoration and preservation. There's only two stop lights in the whole city with cars, people on horseback , festivals and frequent encounters with parades of indigenous Indians in their ancient native costumes that date back to before the days of Cortez and Montezuma. Most of the native people have been here for generations which make them so fascinating to observe and get to know. So if you want a taste of the real Mexico look no further.... W--hich is our greatest complaint........We frequently hear at the end of our guests visits, " But I don't want to leave".................., because of this many have stayed and are now our neighbors . So beware!! You may fall in love!

During your stay you can arrange for local or more extensive sight seeing tours, hot spring outings, hikes to local forested mountains, fresh water fishing, culinary, art or cultural tours. Many come here to learn to speak Spanish, since we have many total immersion language schools here.

Let us know ahead of time. And we'llrec ommend several...
If you enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, then take a 20 minute stroll into town passing tranquil streets, ancient plazas, callejons, and outdoor markets, that literally transport you back to the colonial days of Old Mexico. Alfredo's Market, Hamburger stand and groceries are located just a few blocks away with many nearby street side vendors selling the freshest foods at the best prices......and if you like coffee, our next door neighbor is an award winning roaster with a variety of coffees and teas that will hook you at first sip. He personally stands there with a stop watch when it's roasting time. And his famous Beso Negro .... will keep you coming back. .

This place was exactly what my boyfriend and I needed for a quick getaway. The view was great and it was away from downtown so we enjoyed some piece and quiet but still close enough to walk to el centro which we did. Buzz & Maria also helped me surprise my bf with some special arrangements since I was flying in from CA & made it hard for me to put it together. Thanks again for everything.

We had a really nice stay at Buzz & Maria's ABnB. Buzz welcomed us in such a helpful & hospitable way. Buzz was the primary contact and went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable and easy. From picking us up just inside the city limits, then treating us to street tacos, stopping at an Oxxo (convenience store) for us to pick-up some breakfast items and bottled water, and giving us a quick rundown of how to get around town...Buzz was an excellent host. The home was beautiful in a mountainside neighborhood approximately a 10 minute (cheap) taxi/uber ride or 20 minute walk (down hill) to town. For us, this proximity to town was ideal since we like to be able to get away from the town's hustle and bustle after a long day of touring around. As with most towns in Mexico, barking dogs are common. This applied to Buzz & Maria's place as well. If noise is a concern, I suggest using earplugs for sleeping. As for comfortable sleeping temperature, despite the lack of air conditioning or ceiling fan, the room had excellent airflow from windows & it's breathtakingly panoramic location at the base of La Bufa. Overall, Buzz & Maria's place was a lovely place, perfect for our needs/likes, and Buzz was one of the best hosts we've ever had in all of our ABnB experiences.

Buzz and Maria were extremely sweet and were able to inform us about different things in Guanajuato. My husband and I would definitely use their home again when we return to Guanajuato in the future. Thank you both very much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.!!!

Buzz was kind enough to collect me at the airport which was a great relief since the flight arrived close to 11pm. Over the next two weeks that I stayed at the apartment I was made to feel very welcome and all my requests were attended to, quickly. The apartment has a design that I liked-- the bedroom is separate from the kitchen. Between these two rooms is a patio that is open to the air, with a roof and railings. It is a beautiful place to sit through the day, with great views on both sides. The kitchen is very well provided, with a good range, and enough utensils. The internet is very fast and reliable. I intended to stay here for a quiet place to work, and really liked it. The apartment is at one end (south-east) of the town, just off the Paseo de la Presa, and the neighborhood is charming and very nice, with good cafes, restaurants and easy bus connections. There are a couple of aspects worth keeping in mind. First of all the apartment is on top of a hill and does require climbing up a rather steep gradient. I did not mind it at all, and it is not very hard you get used to it. Second the shower pressure is not great but I got used to this easily. The water is hot, and the shower runs reliably. Finally the dogs! I love animals but as any visitor to Mexico knows, there are a lot of dogs (pets and street dogs) and they do like to bark a lot too. There are a couple at present right next to their home, that start barking at about 11pm though they do start to settle down past midnight. I mentioned this to Maria and I believe they are finding sensible deterrents and aids that can reduce dog noise around them. I cannot properly express how kind, gentle, generous, humane, and decent my hosts were, they are a model really, for hospitality. So the limitations I just stated did not bother me much, since I just felt very fortunate to have met the two of them and to stay in their very special lovely home. Maria was very kind and generous, offering me a delicious margarita, and a variety of delicious food. I should also add that their cat is a truly unusual animal even in that gifted species, a friendly and happy presence in this happy home.

It was a pleasure meeting Buzz and Maria. Buzz picked us up just outside of town on our arrival and was kind enough to give us a quick tour of the area after we got settled in. This was immensely helpful and a great introduction to our visit to Guanajuato. It was comforting to know that our hosts are so responsive and caring. The place, which was situated at the edge of town, was lovely with every amenity needed for a comfortable stay. There are plenty of beautiful sites (such as the governors mansion and the Biblioteca Central de Universidad) nearby. A great coffee shop called Cafe Tal is located at the bottom of the hill. Buses to town arrive in front of the coffee shop every 15 minutes or so to shuttle you around the area for 5 pesos. A walk home from El Centro will take about 25 minutes (the last 10 is uphill), but cab rides home can be used as well for 50 pesos. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend Buzz and Maria's beautiful hacienda.
