Even though we stayed there during cloudy and rainy days, it was one of the most delightful travel experiences we ever had. Everything was organized flawlessly. And each and every thing provided in the room is very thoughtfully placed. The bathrooms are very clean and conveniently located. The view is absolutely breathtaking. Unfortunately, we could not meet Dale although we his father who was very warm and welcoming and made sure we were comfortable with wverything. In all it was a fantastic experience.
We loved staying in your wonderful shepherd's huts. The views are epic and it's just the right distance from the town. We were particularly impressed with the shower/toilets which were simple, but clean and cleverly put together. Although it was the beginning of December and I was a bit worried we'd be cold, the huts warmed up in minutes and we felt toastie in our little hideaway. Thanks for a great time.
A great place to stay whilst visiting St Ives. Nice and homely huts, very private and chilled, washing facilities OK, amazing sea view, close to town, and a very helpful and friendly host! Will be highly recommending to friends and family.
My friend and I stayed at Dales' for 3 nights in the first week of September. The weather was lovely and so was the accomodation. During the day it was warm but during the night it cooled really fast. For us, the temperature in the hut was perfect but I can imagine that it's, like a tent or trailer, quite warm mid-summer. Like said before, the walk is longer than 15 minutes but it's worth it. Goot to know, there is a shuttle bus from the center of St. Ives to a nearby camping. We used it 2 times, late in the evening to go back up the hill. The view is fantastic and if you want to relax, this is the perfect place. Up the hill, at the hut it's quiet and calm. In down in St. Ives it's lively and busy. When I had a question I texted him, and got a quick response. We felt very welcome and at home at the terrain.
Overall my girlfriend and I had a good time staying here. The huts were a little tricky to find but that was on account of us arriving towards night. The views and the bbq/fire pit area are great and make for a nice night of stargazing. As other people have said the distance to walk into town has been underestimated but we walked both there and back and it certainly doable. One minor point is that for the money we paid we would have expected a proper mattress, if you suffer from any kind of back pain I would probably look for another place but otherwise it's a nice place.
The huts are very beautiful and if you're looking for peace and quiet this is the right place! However, we arrived at 9.30pm and it was dark, as Dale hadn't provided any specific directions I didn't think it would be hard to find, we were wrong! There were three houses near by which we tried but no one seemed to know who Dale was, and one couple had said that he wasn't in the country! After nearly half an hour of wandering around in the middle of nowhere we luckily managed to find someone who could help. We had told Dale when we were arriving so it was a shame he didn't provide better instructions, or give us a contact telephone number for someone to call when we got there. He also said it was a 'short walk' from the (email hidden)is isn't the case and it's not a short walk when you're carrying luggage. The huts themselves were unbearably hot and we found it difficult to sleep.
They could be brilliant but more information is definitely needed!
We stayed here for two nights in August, one of which was particularly wet and rainy. The huts are beautifully restored inside and out, and the vista is incredible - 360 degrees of countryside and sea!
The toilet and shower block is cute, not too far away and feels clean and well maintained. The seating outside the huts is a nice touch and we enjoyed bbqing and eating al fresco.
Dale is a really easy going host, and we had no problems locating the site or checking in or out. As with other reviews I'd say that the only downside is that the 10 minute walk is most certainly optimistic. We made it around about 20 minutes each way, with steep inclines. Nevertheless, it's a pleasant atmosphere and worth it for the views. Would definitely recommend/even book again if I'm down that way again....
We hired both the huts for our holiday and we had a fantastic time. Dale has created a really lovely, mellow, green holiday experience near to one of Cornwall's most popular destinations. The huts themselves are beautiful, cosy and clean. The shower/toilet/washing-up hut has been very well built on a budget whereas the cooking hut could certainly do with some attention.A barbeque, fire pit and large picnic table give lots of options for dining and are lit by the power of a wind turbine by night. Access around the field to essential areas is easy and neighbouring fields hold friendly horses which our two 11 year olds spent hours feeding grass to. The views across to the coast are lovely, but here's our only complaint, Dale's estimate of a 15 min walk into St Ives is very optimistic, 30 mins is more like it; then it is all uphill on the way back. This small whinge aside, the Shepherd's huts are great value and are a unique way to spend some time in this beautiful part of the country.
Staying at Dale's Shepherd Hut was a wonderful experience. It was the perfect getaway from the city and a unique way to experience St Ives. We didn't have a car and the walk was easily done to and from town. The small details were much appreciated (like the pathway lined with lanterns) and the outdoor fire pit was perfect. We even saw shooting stars! The Hut was comfortable and cosy, basic but had everything we needed. I would highly recommend staying there. The only thing that could make it better would be a more comfortable mattress. It was fine for the night but you could feel the springs a bit. Its worth it for the location though!
nice location with a beautiful view. highly recomended if you like it simple!
we would stay there again for sure!
