This was my third stay at the Do Drop Inn. It is consistently clean, comfortable and homey - a little oasis during my work week there. Ann is unfailingly responsive and a pleasure to work with.
Ann certainly knows how to make a guest feel welcome! The small touches of fresh flowers, juice, milk, banana bread, fresh fruit, coffee and tea greeting a weary traveler were so much appreciated. The pictures of the Do Drop Inn were accurate. It's a charming bungalow. The neighborhood is friendly, however, would not be described as upscale. The king sized bed was comfortable, but the lack of drawer space and closet space available to guests presented a problem for our week-long stay. I felt that the additional guest fees of 25.00 per guest seemed excessive. We rented the two bedroom bungalow specifically to allow for the possibility of guests for a night or two during our 8 day stay. While the guest fees were stated up front, the more I thought about it, the less I agreed with this policy. It was also difficult to pay the guest fees via airbnb once our guests confirmed that they would join us for 2 nights. The website was not set up for the addition of guests for only a portion of the stay.
This is my second stay at the Do Drop Inn. It was every bit as comfortable as my first stay despite yet another winter storm! A real home away from home. An additional nice touch this time was the porch light on when I arrived after dark.
Our stay was as wonderful as always. Ann is so thoughtful leaving gifts and food to enhance our stay. We hope we will get to stay there again in the future!
We arrived in Charlottesville on one of the coldest days of the year and then it snowed twice as much as the weather forecast called for, but we felt perfectly warm and cozy at the Do Drop Inn. The house is lovely, light-filled and comfortable. The fact that it is set up off the street and surrounded by trees makes it feel private. The location allowed us to easily walk through pouring snow to get a great cup of coffee, a hearty breakfast and stock up at a grocery store on the way back. I felt like Ann really went the extra mile to make sure we were taken care of in the unexpected weather. I would love to stay there again in the spring to take advantage of the beautiful back yard!
We had another wonderful stay at the Do Drop Inn. Ann did a great job of communicating with us and ensuring that everything was taken care of for our trip during a very cold weekend. We checked in to a wonderful breakfast bread, a bottle of wine, and a couple of Dave Matthews CD's. We stayed with our parents and felt right at home.
This is a great place to stay as it is in between the UVA campus and downtown mall, and of course we love being able to have our dog with us. He really enjoyed playing in the fenced in backyard that he could get to through the doggie door. Thanks so much for the hospitality!
My sister-in-law, daughter and I were very pleased with the Do Drop Inn. It was just as described -- cozy, comfortable, and Ann had left a few thoughtful goodies and clear instructions so we felt very welcomed and comfortable in the house. Charming is an appropriate description of the home! Everything went very smoothly. The home is in a modest neighborhood that is conveniently located between the UVA campus and the Downtown mall. Parking is on the street, but it's a side street so that was no problem. We especially enjoyed relaxing with a cup of tea after a day of exploring the area. I highly recommend this listing.
