This Unique Summer House was finished in 2010. This location is in one of the best vacation areas in the country. It is in the middle of the famous Golden Circle Route.
This unique property was built to reflect the Icelandic landscape and complement the small vegetation of moss and trees in the old lava-field. It is a beautiful gem within a great area.
Everything is at your fingertips as well as a unique design which is nowhere to be found anywhere else in Iceland.
The house has 2 bedrooms with twin beds as well as 1 small bedroom for a single child. Upstairs there is a space which sleeps 2-3 sleeping bags.
The house also has a washer and dryer as well as a full kitchen with dishwasher/stove/oven.
The property is quite spacious and has a small children playground in the back.
From mid-August the property has crow berries and wild blueberries growing all around the cottage.
Laugarvatn is 15 minutes drive (Fontana Spa, Lindin Restaurant, N1 Gas Station and a grocery store).
Geysir is 10 minutes away (Geysir, Strokkur, Geothermal area, Geysir Center, Camping ground, Souvenir Shop).
Gullfoss is 30 minutes away.
Þingvellir (Parliament Plains) is 30-40 minutes away.
Service Center with a small grocery store, pool, restaurant, camping ground, mini-golf, 9-hole golf course, horseback riding and much more is 2 minutes away.
This is a unique property for travelers wanting to have a one of a kind vacation.
The summer house was a great experience. Although there was a little bit of snow, the road to the house was cleared and accessible with our 4x4 (highly recommended if you go in winter times). The house is a great piece of architecture!
There is everything you need in the house but do not forget to stock up with food and drinks before you get there as the driving might be risky and adventurous in winter.
We used the hot tub almost every evening and it was great.
Palmi sent us very detailed instructions on how to get there and about the house and hot tub. Appreciated also the check list when living which was easy and helpful.
Great thanks goes to Vala (Palmi's sister) who organised the wifi connection and was always available during the 4 days we stayed. She replied every email within hours. We had bad weather on our check out day and she offered us to stay longer and gave us plenty of info on the road conditions. Very nice of her.
The house and location is just as beautiful as it looks on the photos. Geysir and Gulfoss are both close by and the nearby Efstidalur Farmhouse was great for a meal out.
We had a wonderful and snowy 4 days here in February. Sadly we didn't get to use the hot tub or see the northern lights so we'll have to come back for those!
Palmi and his sister were extremely helpful both before and during our stay. We will be back!
We absolutely loved this property. Our flight into Iceland was delayed due to bad weather so we didn't arrive until very late - we were still made to feel very welcome! We are so grateful to Palmi and Vala for such consideration. The information given to us prior to arrival was extremely comprehensive. The accommodation was warm, comfortable and very clean. The bedrooms were smaller than we'd expected but it was not an issue for us.
The only word of caution would be makesure that if you are visiting this property in the winter months that you have a four wheel drive car - we had some challenges on the road up to the house by the church in the icy condition.
The property is close to the Geyser and the epic waterfall - both within less than 20 minutes drive. Both stunning.
In previous visits to Iceland I've stayed in an Air BnB in Reykjavik - this was an altogether superior experience and one I highly, highly recommend.
Last but not least, I'd like to reiterate just what a great host Palmi is.
We had such a fabulous time at Palmi and his families' wonderful Summer house near Geysir. The place was homely and toasty (despite the heavy snow) and well equipped - we LOVED the coffee machine!
This is a great place to stay whilst in Iceland. Many popular attractions such as the Geysir and Gulfoss are a short drive away. The house itself is fantastic. It was already nice and warm inside when we arrived and had plenty of facilities to use such as cooking equipment, and a good shower. The weather was very snowy and cold during our stay, which was beautiful but difficult. but Palmi's sister, Vala was so helpful in keeping us up to date with road closures and weather warnings. Everything was clean, easy and comfortable, and the directions to the house were very good. I'd recommend hiring a big 4 x 4 with proper snow tires if the forecast is for snow! We couldn't have gone anywhere without ours. Beautiful scenery around the house, and so quiet. We even saw the Northern Lights on two nights from the house and garden. We loved our stay in Palmi's house and can't recommend it enough.
Although we did not meet Palmi and his sister we were able to arrange everything necessary through email. The house is great and we appreciated the beauty of the area. There is a club house / pub close by that offered a welcome to me seeking a pint. The restaurant Lindin is a 15 minute drive is very good as is the nearby spa. Many thanks to Palmi and his family for giving us the opportunity to stay at his unique house. Mark
We loved the photos on the AirBNB web site and had really high expectations, we were not disappointed! What a fantastic place! Really well thought trough, very comfortable and interesting design inside and out. We really enjoyed the outdoor jacuzzi and would have loved to take advantage of that BBQ if it wasn't for the northerly cold winds. The weather was perfect for viewing the northern lights from the jacuzzi though. Would love to come again!
I live in Miami, FL but am originally from Iceland. I travel frequently both for business and pleasure. I treat every place I stay at as my second home and hope my guests do the same for me.
