Room in Central District Townhouse

Apartment - Private room · 21st Avenue, Seattle, WA 98122, United States

The Space

Our lovely two story townhouse is part of a 5-apartment complex in the multicultural Central District in Seattle.

The Central District is neatly tucked between bustling downtown, lively Capitol Hill, and the beautiful Lake Washington. You are following in the footsteps of some of Seattle’s most vibrant residents: Jimi Hendrix grew up playing on these streets. Hendrix, Quincy Jones, and even hip hop artist Macklemore spent some of their youths at Garfield High School, just blocks away.

We are close to major bus routes, which can easily take you north to the University of Washington campus (Bus 48), west to downtown/Belltown (Bus 3), or to major transfer hubs throughout the city. Biking is also an option. And, we're just a brief walk to the Seattle University or Seattle Central Community College campuses, areas that host a rich selection of unique cafes, bars, and restaurants.

The room has a comfortable queen-sized bed, nightstand, and desk. You will have freshly-washed bed and bath linens provided for you. The home has TV, Wifi, kitchen access, washer & dryer, and free street parking (be sure to read the parking signs and not park in front of the hydrant). We have two small, friendly dogs that we rescued last fall from a local shelter. If you have severe pet allergies, this might not be the place for you. Otherwise, we'd love to share our home with you; don't hesitate to contact us for additional information.

  • I had a very comfortable stay at Christian and Katie's home. The bathroom and bedroom were very clean, towels provided were clean, and though I didn't have much chance due to my schedule to use the kitchen or living room, the house is kept in very good order. The bed is huge and they provide a large desk. I hardly heard their dogs at all, but they were both friendly when they were running about. Christian offered help beyond the normal responsibilities of any host and I do appreciate that and they were very accommodating. Thanks for the great stay guys, wish I could have stayed longer in Seattle.

  • Christian and Katie are amazingly warm and welcoming and they made me feel at home in every way from day one, until the very last of my extended stay in their home. They are respectful, phenomenally helpful and lots of fun! Compelling conversations with them both are a joy to look forward to with getting to know them.

The dogs Oli and Bently are super friendly and I was happy to have them as buddies.

Everything with the home is as described and depicted. The house is very neat and situated in a great place, close to downtown, with several bus routes in different directions within very short walking distance. Street parking is always available close to the house if and when needed. All the amenities you need are available in the house or are quickly accessible nearby.

I've had a marvelous experience and am glad to have Christian and Katie as my friends in Seattle and I recommend a stay with them for any period of time in Seattle.

  • Everything is prefect! The bedroom is comfortable and tidy. Cause the householder has two little dogs, they are really lovely and excited when they meet new people. Besides, the place is in the central district. For me, it is a good located in the Seattle whether you rent a car or not :)

Christian is a careful, polite, nice and friendly householder. Oly&Bentley, the two little dogs, are lovely.
The house is spacious, the guest room well sized, bright and equipped. The bus stop is next to the house, and really convenient if you want to go to Downtown.
Unfortunately I didn't meet Katie, but I hope to see both in Rome soon!

  • Had a great experience staying at Katie and Christian's place! Their townhouse is quiet, clean, and comfortable, and in a super location, very close to the bus line and walking distance to coffee shops, some restaurants, etc. I really enjoyed my stay at their place and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

  • Love their place, it's in a prime location to Capitol Hill and a short car/bus ride to downtown/Pike Place. The bus stop is literally visible from the room's window. Would definitely stay again!

  • Though Katie was traveling during my stay, Christian was the perfect host. And the setup was perfect for my needs. I worked from my bedroom during the day, which was quiet, had a desk (something I scoped out beforehand) and had good WIFI reception. During the evenings/weekends, I would venture into the heart of Capitol Hill and/or beyond for dinner, drinks, etc. Though Katie and Christian live about 7-10 blocks from the heart of Cap Hill, it was a great walk through pretty neighborhoods to get there. It's the perfect spot for a small stint in an amazing neighborhood of one of my favorite cities.

  • The perfect home to visit Seattle.
Katie and Christian's house is perfectly located to visit the city, next to Capitol Hill, the hype neighborhood with many bars and restaurants. It is also easy to reach downtown and others neighborhoods with the nice bus lines 2 and 3 really closed to the house.
And there is a really nice coffee place "Tougo Coffee" not far as well to get your breakfast unless you get the chance to chat and talk about Seattle with the wonderful host Christian while having good muffins and coffee in the kitchen.
Otherwise great and comfy bed, clean and nice bathroom.
We couldn't recommend more Katie and Christian's place, we would definitely come back for a next trip in Seattle.

  • Katie and Christian and really nice and helpful persons. The bedroom is really nice and clean and the place is quite. It is easy to go downtown by bus from there.

    August 2013
  • Katie and Christian were excellent hosts. Even their two dogs, Bentley and Oliver, welcomed us to their home. The house is divided into two units and we had full use of the 'A' unit, with a large bedroom, bathroom, living room, and kitchen. We used the local bus to get into Seattle, which is quite convenient. The stop is just a block away and the run into town is about 15 minutes. The #3 bus runs twice hourly. The only problem we had during our stay was due to the unusually warm weather. We had to leave the window open at night and we heard some street noise as a result. With the window closed, the bedroom is very quiet.

Katie is originally from West Texas, but she's traveled a bit--studying in 3 countries (Australia, Germany, and the UK), teaching in one (South Korea), and traveling to over thirty others. She works as a researcher/instructor at a university in Seattle, where she has lived for the past six years. Christian was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, and he has lots of recommendations about places off the beaten map. Christian's real joy is to get outside, to get on the lake, or to go on adventures. So, you might find him up on a trapeze rig or wakeboarding down on Lake Washington.
