This is stylish, airy south facing room that gets amazing light. (It also has blackout shades to keep that light out in the morning.) The bed is very comfortable with a full sized mattress, a down comforter, and a missoni comforter. 3rd floor.

The Space

This is a sweet, bright room that is south facing (blackout shades provided), and has unique decor.

The apartment is a 1906 edwardian flat with lots of character, but be prepared for steep stairs that will take you to the 3rd (top floor of the flat).
Guests will have full access to the kitchen, dining/lounge room, and living room. The living room gets great light, and has a very nice view.

A variety of continental breakfast options will be provided, and there will most likely be other food available at times.

Cole Valley is a great neighborhood that is close to many shops and restaurants. Golden Gate Park, Mt. Sutro, Upper Haight St, and the Castro are all within walking distance. There are numerous high quality grocers within walking distance as well.

Please see below for all the awesome public transportation options!

There is no washer and dryer in the apartment, but there is a laundromat on the corner.

There may be other guests in the apartment at the same time in other rooms, and the general number of people at one time is 3.

Guest Access

Guests are welcome to use all common areas!

Interaction with Guests

I am starting my own business, so tend to be a bit busy, but I love getting to know my guests when possible!

The Neighborhood

Cole Valley is a sweet, safe neighborhood! The train stop is literally across the street, and it will take you downtown within 15min (eastbound), or to Ocean Beach within 15 min heading west.

There are numerous shops and restaurants in Cole Valley, and even more just a short walk to the Upper Haight. There are 4 grocery stores/markets (including a Whole Foods), within a 10 minute walk.

Golden Gate Park is also very close. You can't go wrong with Cole Valley's central location and quiet neighborhood vibe!

Getting around

No car? No problem! The Muni 'N' line stops across the street. You can get downtown (inbound), or to Ocean Beach (outbound) within 15 minutes. There are also multiple bus lines that serve the area. The (phone number hidden) all stop within a few blocks of the apartment.

Other Things to Note

Please read the following FAQ!

How far are you from the SFO?
This all depends on traffic and which mode of transportation you choose.

- A taxi ride is about 25-30 minutes *if* there is no traffic. It will cost at least $40

- Super Shuttle (Van service) is about $18, and is convenient because it takes you straight to the door. However, it can take awhile depending on traffic, and how many other people are getting dropped off before you.

- Public Transportation will take about an hour, and cost $10 total.
**To take public transportation from SFO
1. Take BART from SFO to Civic Center (This should be about $8 and take about 40 min.
2. Get off at Civic Center and go upstairs. There you will see MUNI kiosks. Buy a MUNI pass for $2, and enter a MUNI gates.
3. Go to the 'Outbound' platform and get on an outbound N Judah train.
4. Get off at Carl and Cole - It will be the 4th stop & should take about 15 minutes.

Where Can I Park?
I do not have parking at my apartment, so you will have to do street parking, or pay to park at Kezar Stadium, which is a few blocks away. In my neighborhood you have to have a permit to park for more than 2 hours from 8am-6pm M-F. (Some areas are 7am-7pm, so watch the signs!) After 2 hours, you have to move the car about a block. There are some streets a few blocks away that do not require permits, if you wish to leave your car and explore. Be sure to pay attention to street cleaning signs! My neighborhood is safe, but always be smart and don't leave items visible in seats.

Can I bring a pet?
No! No animals are allowed in the building, and many times there are guests with allergies. There are no exceptions to this.

How does your check-in, check-out time work?
I have a flexible check-in/check-out time, however, the rooms generally need to be vacated by 11am to give time to prep for the next guest. If you want to leave your bags in the living room while you explore more, that is fine. There is a lockbox, so if you're arriving late, or at a time when I might not be around, I can give the code & instructions.

Do I need to bring a towel or bedding?
No - that will be provided, as well as basic shower necessities.

Is there an elevator?
No, and I am on the 3rd floor of an old Edwardian flat. This means the stairs are more steep and narrow for the stairs of today. It is a workout, but well worth it, as the apartment gets a lot of great light, and is quiet, because there is no one above me.

Are there restaurants/grocery stores nearby?
Yes! There are many amenities within walking distance!

Is it easy to get around?
Yes! Many places are walkable, and the public transportation is great from Cole Valley. It's also a very central location in the city.

  • We stayed with Beth for two weeks in her beautiful home in Cole valley. We couldn't have asked for a better room, host or location. Right across the road from the Muni which brings you into the inner city in less than 15 mins. Beautiful view from the room and very well decorated throughout the room and the whole house... We saw surprising little of Beth cause our timing was always a bit off but she was lovely and very helpful. Yvonne who came to clean every few days was an absolute doll! Our experience in SF staying with Beth was 10 out of 10!

  • I stayed first one night alone in Beths appartement-afterwards my boyfriend joined for two more nights! We loved the location of the appartement! Its so easy to get there! Just in front of the house you've got the popular Muni train (N line) which brings you to the Marketstreet(Downtown) or to the Ocaen Beach(sooo beautiful for a run!)! There are some very good restaurants (try the Zazie restaurant for breakfast!) and little shops close by! The neighborhood was nice and clean-we felt very save there! The appartemt was clean and nice as well! We had a very special room which I liked a lot! The bed was very confi and it had everything we needed! Beth was very easy to communicate with-she was very friendly and nice! If I would go back to San Francisco-I would definitly stay in this appartement again! Thanks Beth!!

  • Beth's apartment was perfect for my quick, solo trip. The location was perfect- very safe and within walking distance to so many great parts of the city. The space was very inviting and comfortable - the bed was amazing! Beth was a lovely host and she was very responsive and helpful in the booking/arrival process. I would love to stay again!

  • My partner and I stayed for six nights in Beth's room in San Francisco. The room was bright, large and airy and close to Haight Street and the Golden Gate Park. We visited various restaurants in Cole Valley and this had a nice but small neighbourhood feel to it.

Beth greeted us on arrival and showed us around the flat. She also gave us eye masks and ear plugs which were necessary as the Muni line runs right past the house and can be quite loud through much of the night. However, the Muni was extremely useful during the daytime to get about quickly.

There were 1-2 others staying in the flat and new people arrived and left every few days. We also made use of the communal breakfast cupboard which consisted of cereal, cereal bars, rice cakes and various oils and spices.

Beth was around through most of our stay to talk to and was very friendly and helpful. We both felt that the bedroom was comfortable. The bathroom and some of the communal areas could be a little untidy and were perhaps not as clean as we might have expected, but nothing was seriously dirty and some visitors might not notice.

We had a very nice time in San Francisco and think that Beth's room is a good option for budget travellers who want to stay centrally and perhaps meet new people. The flat is well-located and Beth is a sweet, trustworthy host.

  • Beth is a wonderful accommodating host. The room I was staying is her own bedroom which she has let me in for a week. It is a spacious warm place. The room faces the street, so a minor noise from the passing by trams.

There were couple other guests during my stay too, and we could chat from time to time.

Cole Valley is a nice residential area well connected by MUNI. By a weekly pass if you are staying at least 5-6 days.

  • Beth's place is elegantly designed and conveniently located. It was very easy to communicate with Beth through text. I enjoyed my stay in sf.

  • Beth was an absolute delight to stay with and I can now say I have a great friend and design expert in San Francisco! The large pink room she offers is for for a princess (or prince!) and is comfortable, light and airy. I felt immediately at ease in Beth's place and presence. Other highlights of the place include an open kitchen where Beth graciously shares spices, oils, vinegars, tea, an fridge space; a cute and cozy dining lounge; a fantastic living room with a swing and great views of the hills; and two bathrooms (one a 1/2 bath). The apartment is in a perfect location for getting downtown, to the beach, to the mission, Castro and haight neighborhoods, or just stay in lovely Cole Valley and have ample things to do (great coffee, shopping, restaurants, Golden Gate Park...)

Can't say enough good things about Beth and her place -- stay here :)!

  • Beth was very hospitable, her space is beautifully designed, clean, and bright! We enjoyed our stay here very much.

    February 2014
  • Beth graciously hosted us during the Christmas holidays so that we could visit family who live within several blocks. She gave us good information about the apartment, made 'community snacks' available, and offered the use of her kitchen. The bed was very comfortable, and the whole place was pleasant.

  • The room (and the entire apartment) is spacious and beautifully decorated. A great, comfortable and very quiet place to hang out. The local tram (like a train) called the N Judah stops literally across the street making it super convenient to get around (especially to downtown). Beth herself is so nice, such a sweetie and wonderful to talk with! I will definitely be back to stay with Beth again soon.

About
I am a mid-thirties recent graduate from an interior design and sustainable design program. I enjoy anything sustainable/design/architecture related, DIY, crafting, flea markets, tango dancing, blues dancing (with a sprinkling of swing and salsa), eating healthy, and yoga (including partner & acro-yoga). I love ethnic food - especially Thai. I enjoy cooking, and will most likely have food to share. I tend to avoid wheat (unless it's sprouted wheat), and don't eat much dairy or sugar, but can still whip up some tasty meals. I'm ultimately very sensitive to my own needs and to others, and strive to create a harmonious, healthy household. Sometimes we might need some downtime, and space to ourselves, but more than likely I'll be able to create time and space for sharing a meal, playing some music, (I have a guitar, and am hoping to add a ukelele and musical saw to the mix soon), or crafting with a guest(s) open to it! I value open communication, and am very friendly. I moved to SF from CO 6.5 years ago, and am very familiar with the city, and finding unique, affordable activities to enjoy. I will gladly pass on my knowledge to my guests!
