About this listing
If you're looking for an authentic Brooklyn Experience; Look No Further! I'm an Artist living in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I’m respectful, kind and accommodating. I share my unusual home with like-minded creative and alternative lifestyle travelers.
You are welcome to stay in my guest loft. This is a great short-term space for the budget traveler that does not require much privacy. The "Cozy Fort" is built above the door in the main living area.
This is a sex-positive shared living environment and because of the unusual space, the sights and sounds of intimacy are not always completely private. However, respect for each other is essential and discretion is preferable.
This is a fairly large studio, it's spacious feeling even when everyone is home. I have been very lucky and met amazing people through this service.
I will provide clean sheets for your double-bed and warm blankets if needed. I also have plenty of storage space if you should need it. Under the loft I have a wardrobe just for your use with plenty of drawers and a place to lock up your computer or other small valuables if you are concerned. The loft is relatively private, comfortable and clean. However, it is not great for couples seeking a romantic vacation or anyone who needs absolute silence to sleep. It has the unusual entrance and exit of an industrial slide. It is not particularly challenging to use, but can be a problem If you are a bit tipsy from going on a pub crawl in the neighborhood, uncoordinated or tired.
You have total access to my space, including the kitchen. I have a manually operated freight elevator that is off limits but can be used to transport heavy items if you require. I have fantastic roof access with beautiful views of the New York Skyline. Bring your lap top computer and connect to my WiFi. If you sit in the right space you can enjoy the WiFi in the open air on the roof.
Interaction with Guests
I’m a busy guy during the week and often we will only see each other briefly. On the weekends I have more of a presence, but not by much. I’m quick to respond through email and text if you need me. I’m glad to chat and offer assistance at any time. However, I am not an overly interactive host.
My Artist's Loft is located on the top floor on a quiet street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This is a very safe and friendly part of Brooklyn to visit. The Franklin Avenue shops, restaurants and bars are just around the corner. Williamsburg and all it has to offer is just a short walk away.
The closest Subway station is the Greenpoint Ave G, also in walking distance is the Bedford Ave L and the Vernon Blvd 7. By subway, I am located 25 minutes from Union Square, 26 minutes from Times Square, 30 minutes from Central Park, 38 minutes from Tribeca and 25 minutes from the East Village. The B61 and B43 bus stop is only a block away and very helpful when weather is uncomfortable. JFK is one hour away by public transport and LGA is 25 minutes away by Cab.
Other Things to Note
Much of my furniture was custom made by the artist Jean-Marie Mauclet of JEMA Design and all my lighting is eco-friendly LED's.
Be respectful! Use your quiet voice late at night when others are sleeping. Turn off lights when you go to bed. Wash your dishes. Keep your area organized. Close the door behind you and be sure it locks. Make sure the toilet has flushed properly before leaving the bathroom. Recycle.
No running or jumping on the roof. Don't leave any trash on the roof. Do not invite a guest or guests over without notifying me. Be extra courteous to my neighbors.
Take care of the place and it will take care of you!
Excellent location and safe neighbourhood however the apartment didn't match the description or photos as their was renovations happening that we weren't aware of, so there was lots of stuff everywhere and there was only one bathroom to be shared between everyone which was quiet dirty. There was very little privacy in the toilet and no hand soap. There was also lots of dust/dirt at the end of the bed. This wasn't a bad experience but we didn't feel overly comfortable or welcome.
David was brilliant, kept in contact throughout the trip, before and whilst we were staying there. Ensured we got there safely, was very helpful in helping us settle in, giving relevant information and tips as to where to get transport eat etc.
Very nice host who was kind and considerate as well as inviting. Felt at ease instantly and thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this unique space, which was comfortable and clean.
Très très bonne expérience ! Lawrence est très accueillant et son loft est très atypique ! La salle de bain est nickel ainsi que tout le loft ! Mention spécial sur le toit avec une vue imprenable sur Manhattan !!
Merci beaucoup Lawrence !
Lawrence was a great host and also another gerust that stayed longer in his appartment gave uw useful tips for visiting new york
Lawerence was extremely helpful and delightful. The space is as described. Clean, comfortable and kept ice cold when it's hot! (Thank you Lawrence!) the slide is pretty easy to get up and down, there's plenty of space to store your stuff, and getting in and out of the apt is easy. It's right off the G train so you can go anywhere with an easy 2 block walk. If you're looking for a fun, unique Brooklyn experience, look no further.
This loft is just amazing, there is not so much privacy but who needs that :) subway station is really close, the view from the rooftop is stunning (especialy sunset, it left me speechless). It's really nice area with lots of small shops and you can literally smell food everywhere. The bed is cozy and it's been always fun to get up there. :)
Our stay at Lawrence was really nice! It's only 3 min walking to the G - Train which will bring you to central Manhattan in around 25 minutes. Beautiful loft, amazing view from the roof terrace and clean (new) bathroom.
If you are used to luxury hostel, this is not your place to stay. But if you are only in NYC for a cheap stay and use it only for ''sleeping'', than it is oke! You sleep in a little attic with a mattress, power outlet and fan (it can get quite hot). You have to enter it with a slide (so only good for young (not injured) people.
Thanks Lawrence, I will definitely book again the next time i'm in NYC!
