If you're looking for an authentic Brooklyn Experience; Look No Further! I'm an artist living in Brooklyn trying to keep the Dream alive! I have a small crib in my Classic Artist's Loft that I share with travelers from Airbnb. I am respectful, kind and accommodating. I am seeking the same out of you! This is a fairly large studio, it's spacious feeling even when everyone is home. I have been very lucky and met amazing people through this service. Much of my furniture was custom made by the artist Jean-Marie Mauclet of JEMA Design and all my lighting is eco-friendly LED's.
You are welcome to stay in my guest loft. This is a great short-term space for the budget traveler that does not require much privacy. The "Tiny Crib" is built above the door in the main living area. When at home, I tend to hang out in my bedroom on my computer or on the roof when the weather is nice. The weekends can be a bit livelier, but not by much! I will provide clean sheets for your double-bed and warm blankets if needed. I also have plenty of storage space if you should need it. Under the loft I have a wardrobe just for your use with plenty of drawers and a place to lock up your computer or other small valuables if you are concerned. The loft is relatively private, comfortable and clean. However, it is not great for couples seeking a romantic vacation or anyone who needs absolute silence to sleep. It has the unusual entrance and exit of an industrial slide. It is not particularly challenging to use, but can be a problem If you are a bit tipsy from going on a pub crawl in the neighborhood, uncoordinated or tired.
My Artist's Loft is located on the top floor on a quiet street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This is a very safe and friendly part of Brooklyn to visit. I have a manually operated freight elevator that is off limits but can be used to transport heavy items if you require. I have fantastic roof access with beautiful views of the New York Skyline. Bring your lap top computer and connect to my WiFi. If you sit in the right space you can enjoy the WiFi in the open air on the roof.
The Franklin Ave shops, restaurants and bars are just around the corner. The closest Subway station is the Greenpoint Ave G, also in walking distance is the Bedford Ave L and the Vernon Blvd 7. By subway, I am located 25 minutes from Union Square, 26 minutes from Times Square, 30 minutes from Central Park, 38 minutes from Tribeca and 25 minutes from the East Village. The B61 and B43 bus stop is only a block away and very helpful when weather is uncomfortable. JFK is one hour away by public transport and LGA is 25 minutes away by Cab. Get Ready for your "morning slide!" I look forward to meeting you. -Lawrence

We has a Great stAy at Lawrence Loft. The view from the roof is amazing. The Loft is really Nice, good neighbourhood
Thank you Lawrence for the accommodation. You have a very nice flat! I enjoyed living in the brooklyn fort. Take care
The place is great for a short visit , it´s a good point , you see all manhathan from the roof and the place is wonderful
We stayed at Lawrence's place for an entire week and it was perfect. The other tenants are very kind and respectful, it was a pleasure to share the flat with them.
The place is very well located, in a lovely area with shops, restaurants and subway nearby. The flat in itself is awesome. There is everything you need to feel confortable and there is such a great view from the roof. I strongly recommand that place for a trip in NYC!
My experience with Lawrence was amazing! He and his roommate Max were superfriendly and helpful. He had everything prepared so I would feel like at home: my own drawer for groceries, bed and some storage for my things. The slide was great, it took a while to get used to, but in the end I practically mastered it. You just have to walk up barefoot, that's it. The neighborhood looks wild, but I fell in love with it. It's very diverse and has a lot to offer. I traveled alone and had no troubles.
I would not recommend this place to people who need a lot of privacy, though.
The loft is great for a short term stay if you are looking for something cheap and in a nice area. Easy subway access to Manhattan and other essential areas of New York. If you're comfortable with not having heaps of privacy this is perfect, but if you like sleeping in late, it could be a challenge. Lawrence is a very friendly host and does what he can to make your time there the best it can be.
Thank you very much, Lawrence. I had a great time in Brookly, near Greenpoint. A very nice neighbourhood, great views of Manhatten and a great experience in your apparent. I can only warmly recommend it: tidy, location is great in itself but also a convenient commute to Manhatten, meeting nice people (all in their 20s). I would love to be back at some point.
Totalmente recomendable! Cuando volvamos a New York, volveremos a alquilarlo!
I stayed in the "cozy fort" for a month and had positive and negative experiences. On the positive side: the flat is really beautiful and light, I really liked the artistic and charming little details. Lawrence (email hidden) and always very flexible, and he provided all the house equipment, sheets and towels etc. The view from the roof is amazing. Greenpoint is a nice neighbourhood, close to Williamsburg and only a few subway stops from Manhattan.
More problematic was the lack of privacy. The "fort" really has only a wooden board as "wall" and the other rooms also don't really have solid walls, so you can hear everything which goes on in the flat. Also, I found the security camera in the living room very uncomfortable, as you don't have space for anything other than sleeping in the fort, so you will have to do most activities (including getting dressed) outside of it and will be filmed walking to and from the bathroom etc.
This was also the reason for me eventually moving to a different apartment.
Therefore, I would only recommend staying in the fort if it is for a shorter period of time - when you don't actually require a "home" but merely a place to sleep - and if you don't mind the lack of privacy.
I have had a wonderful time at Lawrence's: the flat is convenient and has an amazing view, Greenpoint is a great neighborhood, and the host is a delight to be around, giving his guests their privacy when needed and great conversation when occasion presents itself. So I can highly recommand the Cozy Fort, especially for people in good physical condition (the slide is manageable, but still quite steep) who are not too tall (the space there is really only to sleep, or sit in bed, I bumped my head a lot when I tried crouching). The bed is a double bed but the limited space and lack of sound proofing do not make it couple friendly. That being said, there is definitely space enough in the appartment itself for the Fort to be a very enjoyable inexpensive accommodation for one person, in a bit of Brooklyn I've managed to fall violently in love with in a week's time.
