If you're looking for an authentic Brooklyn Experience; Look No Further! I'm an artist living in Brooklyn trying to keep the Dream alive! I have a small crib in my Classic Artist's Loft that I share with travelers from Airbnb. I am respectful, kind and accommodating. I am seeking the same out of you! This is a fairly large studio, it's spacious feeling even when everyone is home. I have been very lucky and met amazing people through this service. Much of my furniture was custom made by the artist Jean-Marie Mauclet of JEMA Design and all my lighting is eco-friendly LED's.
You are welcome to stay in my guest loft. This is a great short-term space for the budget traveler that does not require much privacy. The "Tiny Crib" is built above the door in the main living area. When at home, I tend to hang out in my bedroom on my computer or on the roof when the weather is nice. The weekends can be a bit livelier, but not by much! I will provide clean sheets for your double-bed and warm blankets if needed. I also have plenty of storage space if you should need it. Under the loft I have a wardrobe just for your use with plenty of drawers and a place to lock up your computer or other small valuables if you are concerned. The loft is relatively private, comfortable and clean. However, it is not great for couples seeking a romantic vacation or anyone who needs absolute silence to sleep. It has the unusual entrance and exit of an industrial slide. It is not particularly challenging to use, but can be a problem If you are a bit tipsy from going on a pub crawl in the neighborhood, uncoordinated or tired.
My Artist's Loft is located on the top floor on a quiet street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This is a very safe and friendly part of Brooklyn to visit. I have a manually operated freight elevator that is off limits but can be used to transport heavy items if you require. I have fantastic roof access with beautiful views of the New York Skyline. Bring your lap top computer and connect to my WiFi. If you sit in the right space you can enjoy the WiFi in the open air on the roof.
The Franklin Ave shops, restaurants and bars are just around the corner. The closest Subway station is the Greenpoint Ave G, also in walking distance is the Bedford Ave L and the Vernon Blvd 7. By subway, I am located 25 minutes from Union Square, 26 minutes from Times Square, 30 minutes from Central Park, 38 minutes from Tribeca and 25 minutes from the East Village. The B61 and B43 bus stop is only a block away and very helpful when weather is uncomfortable. JFK is one hour away by public transport and LGA is 25 minutes away by Cab. Get Ready for your "morning slide!" I look forward to meeting you. -Lawrence
We had a great time at Lawrence's place! The location is great for travellers- just a short walk to Williamsburg. Lawrence was really helpful and recommended great places to go as well as making ya feel very welcome. The apartment is spacious, clean and had a great view if had city. The loft room is small but comfortable and warm. The slide is also a great way to start the day! We would recommend Lawrence's place to any edger travellers who are keen to have an authentic Brooklyn experience!
Clean, close to the subway, nice and safe neighbourhood. I'm not sure I'd recommend the loft room and the slide for long trips though-- the slide does get tiresome! I only met Lawrence once but he was super lovely. It's a bit of a luck of the draw when it comes to flatmates though-- I had two wonderful people, two v inconsiderate ones. All in all however, it's a great place to crash at the end of the day, and you could do a LOT worse for the price!
Lawrence was great!
My stay lasted a little unpleasant, since I found myself in front of an unpleasant situation, because other than a tatty and dirty environment, around there was a pair of underwear and socks.
The owner was not even there, the owner was not even there, partly because there was no more place, since we were 7 people of all ages.
The owner was not being clear,I was given a small loft, that I had to crouch to get into, with a curtain to close the small opening for,and a slide to get into it, that if I do not put your shoes I would have never managed to climb because I'd just slipped and that he had not explained well the owner.
I then promptly tried another place, where I found myself very well.
I hope that other people do not find in my own discomfort, why have these discomforts on holiday and with a little girl,in a new place, put in the uncomfortable even holiday.
Even if the owner tries to exonerate himself scrambling,Photos may not correspond to reality, the environment was dirty and ruined, and around socks and pant on the table.
I had to get away from the discomfort, how could I eat with pant and socks in front.
I could not keep my daughter in distress because the owner has not been clear, and was not present.
Wolf was surprised to find the accommodations exactly as it is described and photographed in my listing. We were in correspondence for months regarding his stay and I feel as if someone other than him made the reservation and was in communication with me. Even now, I do not think he has looked at the images or read the description of the listing. His english was very poor and he did not respond to my attempts to write him in Italian. He also mistook my clever Jude Talichet sculpture as dirty laundry. Ha! I was able to arrange for him a more suitable room by asking my guests to trade with him but he left without taking it or responding to my efforts. It is true that we did not meet in person, if he had stayed longer than 12 hours that would not have been the case. It's unfortunate that I was unable to make him happy, but it was not without effort on my part.
A wonderfully eclectic stay in NYC for two Australian students. Though we never met Lawrence we could feel his presence in the literature, lighting, and ludicrous table decor. The flat itself was beautifully clean and the kitchen well equipped. This was our first airbnb experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone with the wherewithal to scramble up the slide (don't wear socks).
The appartment is unique. We are charmed with his place and the neighborhood. Law was very kind. Tks for all!!

Great place to live and very friendly counterpart travelers. I rested well in the hostel. Subway station is nearby, and it makes transportation a lot easier. The neighborhood around is also worth exploring. All in all, great place to live, and Lawrence is really a wonderful host!!!
Lawrence was an awesome host and the place is very nice and has a character of its own. We stayed in the room on top of the slide and its very very tiny (Lawrence warned us about this beforehand though). We got used to it pretty fast though and it was fun sliding down every time! Lawrence was very helpful and proactive. Even though there were many guests we never felt overwhelmed by the number of people in the loft. Would definitely recommend this place for people on a budget and looking for a nice safe place to stay in NYC.
We stayed in the fort--accessible by climbing up a slide. Perhaps the most unique sleeping quarters I have been in. Lawrence was great and available for any queries. I want to live in Greenpoint now.
We had a great time at Lawerence's place. It was our first time visiting NYC and it was a solid base to both relax and get around the city using the green line. The neighbourhood has a lot of character and we stumbled onto a cozy coffee place (Ovenly) on our way to check out the city. As big walkers, we walked to Manhattan one day, but if you're feeling lazy you can be there in a short subway ride (with one transfer).
The place was spotless and the other people staying at Lawerence's were pretty easy to get along with- I suspect that's just the type of traveler attracted to the space. The nook itself, is purely for sleeping or netflixing, but if you're crashing for a couple nights it's perfect. If I were to stay longer, I would definitely do one of the rooms.
The main reason we booked the room were the reviews on Lawerence himself and I can confirm that he's easy to communicate with, prompt and reliable! We had no issues.
What you see with this place really is what you get.
