About this listing
3-bedroom village home in the historic center of Assisi
A private courtyard across the street from a monastery is the centre of this holiday townhouse apartment in Umbria. A single bedroom upstairs on your left looks out on the courtyard while a spacious vaulted living room opens up to your right as you enter. Beyond the living room is a brand new kitchen with a breakfast counter and beyond that a unique and romantic dining room with vaulted stone ceiling and even your own grotto leading down into the soft stone heart of this miraculous city of art and spirituality--a perfect spot for storing the marvelous wines of the region you will want to try while visiting! Upstairs from the living room is a library/reading corner for curling up with a book, the bathroom with shower, and a corridor leading to the master double bedroom with queen-sized bed and a second bedroom nook with full-sized bed. Comfortably sleeping 3-5, furnished with elegant Italian contemporary design pieces chosen for your comfort and to contrast with the cool stone walls of this year-round center of attraction. We also offer a special spa packet with the nearby NUN relais and spa, so please ask about the discounted offer for our guests.
We provide a wifi dongle, but the thick stone walls within the old town centre of Assisi means that the connection is highly variable and we cannot guarantee a constant level of internet access. There are many nearby cafes that have hotspots available should our internet access be experiencing difficulties.
Please smoke only outside the house, thank you. Because of the open staircases, the house is not appropriate for children under 6 or for persons with mobility issues. The final housecleaning fee is 40 euro. We do request a 150 euro security deposit on arrival which is returned to you on departure, thank you!
I arrived in Assisi in the late afternoon and found the house. Sophie's friends met me at the door (she was working) and let me in and showed me around. I spoke to Sophie later in the day and she apologized for not being able to meet me, but it really isn't an issue for me.
The house itself is really beautiful. She has decorated it with a lot of modern furniture, so the juxtaposition between that and the obviously older stone interior is very charming.
We happened to be in Assisi during an unusual heat wave (it was around 100 every day) and this is where the dining room came in very handy. It's about 15 degrees cooler than the rest of the house and if you escape down the wine cellar (which the kids liked to do) it's about 65 degrees down there.
We brought a nanny with us and there is a separate room off the main entrance that she stayed in and she enjoyed the privacy. It's perfect for an older child or nanny. The stairs to that room are a little dicey as they have no railing, but that's a minor quibble.
Everything in Assisi is walkable, so to say that the house is situated perfectly is almost redundant. But it is located in the center, with the Basilica of St. Francis about a 10 minute walk and the Basilica of St. Claire about 5.
We had a wonderful time here.
Thank you for reviewing your stay. Very happy to hear you all enjoyed your visit! Just to clarify for future guests, you were actually met by the owners as I only manage the correspondence, so you have them to thank for the decor and the welcome!
A lovely historic home in a peaceful yet central location, spacious and artistically decorated, we enjoyed our stay here. Only downsides are the uphill 10 min walk from the parking and two of the bedrooms are interconnected which may not suit everyone. But it's comfortable and spacious, full of interesting nooks and crannies and even has its own underground tunnel/grotto. The owners seemed friendly and helpful. Would recommend.
La casa davvero bella e accogliente, siamo stati benissimo.
Assisi è una città davvero speciale e la casa è veramente in una posizione comoda per poterne godere.
Spero di avere occasione di poter ritornare!
Lovely place in the hearth of assisi, beautifully furnished and very spacious. The only tiny disadvantage is that the kitchen and dining room are a little humid but the rest of the apartment definitely makes up for it. Andrea welcomed us warmly and was very helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay in a stylish, original and yet cozy place.
I'm in love with Assisi and Sophie's house. This was the highlight of my Italy trip. The best 4 days! The house is in the middle of the centro storico and close to everywhere. I'll be back to Assisi & this house for sure!
Well, my friend was complain because there is no tv when he wanted to see football match, but that's not a problem at all!
Sophie/Andrea were great hosts. Sophie was very attentive to any communication/request we had and Andrea was there to pick us up from the train station when we arrived. The BnB is exceptionally spacious and located perfectly in Assisi for getting around town. The BnB was very comfortable and modernly decorated. We would definitely stay there again!

About the Host, Sophie
I've been living in the Spoleto area for more than 25 years and have been helping friends who have holiday homes in the area find great guests who will enjoy staying here for the past five years. I make sure the houses are ready for your arrival and are always even nicer than you'd expected. I want to ensure you have a great holiday and come to love and hopefully return to Umbria whenever you can. I also have a holiday cottage in upstate New York on a golf course on Otsego Lake, close to Cooperstown, on a property I share with my brother.
