Peaceful, sunny tiny house with friendly cat in residence. A bit like staying in a cabin in the heart of the city. Characterful, light and cosy.

Montpelier is one of Bristol's best neighbourhoods. Known as Bristol's 'bohemian quarter', it's a great area with lovely cafes, pubs and independent shops, walking distance from the city centre.

The space
My little house is a converted haystore. It's only 7ft wide but once you're inside it feels very light and spacious and has been brilliantly designed to make great use of every bit of space. It's a bit like living on a boat but on dry land. I love living here and people seem to love staying here.

It is full of character (wood floors, hand-built kitchen, lots of books and plants) and has lots of cosy nooks to read in. The house is heated by a woodburning stove and there will be plenty of logs and kindling waiting for you in case it's a chilly evening. There is a bath upstairs, hidden under the windowseat, and a shower room and toilet downstairs. The loft/platform bed is accessed via a ladder and has no railings either side, so this is probably not the house for you if you are a sleep-walker, or have ever rolled out of bed!

I don't have a TV but you are welcome to use my computer and Netflix account. There is WiFi, a digital radio, CD player and record player.

Although the house is just off Stokes Croft - which is packed full of great bars and restaurants and can get pretty wild at the weekend - the house is really peaceful as it's hidden away on a tiny lane with no through-traffic. The back of the house looks over gardens so it's like a little oasis of calm hidden away.

Guest access
I rent out the whole house when I go away so it will be for your sole use during your stay.

I'm sorry but my house is not suitable for children and will be challenging for anyone is less able physically as the loft bed is accessed via ladder.

Other things to note
My cat, Bunk, stays here when I go away. He is an excellent cat who is loved by all who meet him. You would need to feel happy to feed him twice a day. Please don't book the house if you don't like cats. There is a cat flap so he comes and goes and you don't have to deal with a litter tray or anything like that.

The house will of course be clean and tidy but this is my home, not a hotel, so there will be scruffy bits here and there, and the occasional cat hair.

Stokes Croft, Bristol

Montpelier is a lovely, arty residential neighbourhood with lots of colourful Georgian houses and nice places to eat and wander. There are great cafes within 100m of the house; and there are nice shops nearby - a great Italian deli, an organic farm shop and a Tesco are all 2 mins walk away.

The house is just off Stokes Croft, which is a lively, scruffy, interesting stretch of bars, live music venues and restaurants. Gloucester Rd, a long stretch of independent shops and cafes is a 10 minute walk away.

I'm 36 and I live in Bristol, UK. I work in radio (making documentaries, books and arts programmes), which I love and is essentially an excuse to talk to interesting people for a living! Outside of work, I like to cook, eat and drink red wine round the kitchen table with friends, bomb around town on my bike, canoe down rivers, read books on trains and go for long walks (finishing up in the corner of a cosy pub). I watch more films than is probably healthy and try to get to see live music whenever I can. I have had some great AirBnB experiences as a guest and love to share my little home with guests as an AirBnB host.
