About This Listing
You are warmly invited to stay in my convenient Amsterdam home. This location will offer you a mixture of possibilities: enjoying the city of Amsterdam as well as the beauty of nature.
It’s a spacious modern house breathing a pleasant atmosphere with lots of (sun)light and a beautiful garden, that looks like an extension of the livingroom . A comfortable oasis to come home to, after a day/night of vibrant citylife. There is a possibility for 1 extra person to stay (so 5 altogether).
Situated between 2 subwaystations (10 minute walk or 2 minutes by bus) that take you right into the center of the city in 10/15 minutes, it is a great place to stay if you want to enjoy the beautiful city of Amsterdam and everything it has to offer.
This area is known for its African/Carribean atmosphere. There are 2 multi cultural markets in the neighbourhood, where you can buy all kinds of (exotic) foods and clothes and where you can get a flavor of the lively African/Carribean culture in Amsterdam.
The house has a fully equiped kitchen for those who don’t want to eat out every night, there’s free whireless internet and a tv. It has two big bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two single beds.
Close to a main trainstation (15 minutes to Schiphol airport), and close to several main highways in Holland (in all directions) it also allows you to easily visit other cities and places in the country. And quiet rare these days in Amsterdam: there’s free parking space just in front of the house.
If you like a ‘naturebreak’ in between city-experiences: there’s a beautiful natural park closeby (2 metrostops). It has a lake where you can swim and it’s a great area for running , hiking or biking.
The county of Amsterdam demands 5,5% touristtax. I will charge that money serparately (cash) from the fee you pay to airbnb.
The best ways to reach the appartment from Central Station, or from the Center of the City (like ‘Waterlooplein’ or ‘Nieuwmarkt’):
You have 2 possibilities to get to my house by metro:
1) take metro 53 to 'Gaasperplas' and get out at station 'Ganzenhoef' (about 15 minutes) When you get out of the metro station, turn right and walk along the Bijlmerdreef (about 8 minutes walk) to the Johanna Naberstraat (at your right side)
2) take metro 54 to 'Gein' and get out at station 'Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena'. Take bus 47 (to Holendrecht) or 66 (to IJburg) and get out at
stop 'Geinwijk' (ask the driver to warn you). It's just 5 minutes in the bus, but the busstop is only a few minutes walk from my house. When you get
out the bus, cross the street at the crossover and go left (it's on the Bijlmerdreef). Then it's the second street on your right.
From the airport: take a train to Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena station (15 minutes). (Intercitytrains to Eindhoven, Maastricht, Nijmegen, Utrecht, stop at Bijlmer Arena). From there see option 2 above.
- No smoking in the house
- watering plants during summer
Josephine was very friendly and hospitable. Despite our poor English, it is very lucidly explained the rules of their home and answered our questions. The house was absolutely everything necessary for life - dishes, washing machine, household chemicals, some of that food and much more.
House - very nice, neat and comfortable, we felt comfortable.
Quiet, peaceful area. To metro - 7 minutes.
My friends and I recommend this place! Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
Some pleasant atmosphere, two floors, a beautiful garden. Josephine has welcomed us very nicely with something to eat and to drink. The house is very nice, and above all very clean. It is same as the pictures. The transport connection to the center is a 15 minutes by car and by publics. It is advisable to let the car there all day at one of parking places. The cheapest we found in is the Falcon Parking Valkenburgerstraat 72. We paid 20,- Eur 24 hours.
Josephine was a very kind, caring host. Although I never met her in person, as she was on a trip herself, she wrote to me several times to make sure everything was ok. I met her daughter instead, who made the same impression on me. Everything went fluently.
The apartment was very nice with a lovely yard. It wasn't located in the city center, but it only took approx. 30 min to get there with bike, which was a nice ride. It took 20 min to get to downtown with the subway.
Everything was perfect in Josephine's apartment, the place is even better than it looks like in pictures. It was easy to reach the city center and the house is close to the Ziggo Dome Arena as me and my friends were in Amsterdam for a concert.
Josephine was a nice and kind host. I would absolutely suggest this place.
Me and my friends had spent 9 days in that house and were really happy to stay there. There were four of us and we felt very comfortable as it is spacious. Only 10 minutes walk to two subway stations, large supermarket is also close to the house.
You can find everything you need: nice and comfortable furniture, TV, equiped kitchen and charming little garden. Josephine is very welcoming host so we were pleased to meet her and be her guests.
With the highest recommendations! Thank you very much.
About the Host, Josephine
I love to be in nature (hiking or biking) ánd I love the vibe and the culture of the city (of Amsterdam f.e.). That's why I live exactly where I am living right now. I love to meet new people with different nationalities and different cultural backgrounds. I m having friends in many different places in the world (and I don't mean virtual :-)) Professionally I work as a programmedeveloper and consultant in the fields of education and organisational development. I'm very interested in facilitating learning and development, and am dedicated to making the world a better place. I love (evolutionary) philosophy. I enjoy good (vegetarian) food a lot, preparing it for other people as well as eating it myself.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, there is a market with all kinds of different (and exotic) foods and clothes.
Colorful, multicultural shoppingcentre for food, clothes, personal care, flowers, and many other kinds of shops. Pleasant, caribean atmosphere.
Hall, specifically designed for amplified music. Lots of concerts, famous artists from all over the world. (on walking distance)
Amsterdam Arena is the biggest stadium in Holland and the home base for Ajax football team. You can take guided tours that take you through the whole arena.
Also location for mega music concerts.
Beautiful Music Hall, wonderful sound quality, great artists from all over the world
Beautiful green area around a lake, where you can go for a hike, a bikeride, or a swim in the lake (small beach on one side of the lake). Great for a rest if you want a break from the city.
