On the same street Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit was born () . A physicist, engineer, and glass blower who is best known for inventing the alcohol thermometer (1709) and the mercury thermometer (1714), and for developing a temperature scale now named after him.
Fahrenheit was born in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, into a German Hanse merchant family, but he spent most of his life in the Dutch Republic. His five children get married and lived in Gdansk in my street ;) where you can see the sign on their house.

Two couples n best friends had an amazing staying in Gdaňsk thanks to Monika and her more than warm welcome! The apt was super nice - modern, clean and the last but not least located right in the center, however, not noisy at all. We love Gdaňsk - we will come back for sure and will be super happy if Monika's apt will be available for us that time.

Monika and her mother are great hosts and the property is amazingly located. High 5! Top apartment, comfortable and quiet. I would recommend this home to anyone visiting the beautiful Gdansk and its surroundings.

We were met by Monika's mother, who took well care of us. During the stay it was easy to get in touch with Monika, and we had great help with the information she sent us and the prompt answers to our questions. Vey nice apartment which suited us perfect.

Our host met us as promised - gave us an overview and expectations of the apartment; answered our general questions; and was off to let us explore the city of Gdansk.

We (four people) arrived in the evening and was greeted by Monika's mother. The apartment was great. The wifi was well-working. We had a minor problem with the toilet on arrival, but Monika's mother came by and fixed it the next day. Also, the dish washer was not working, but that was no problem for us. The location was perfect. Just a few minutes walk to the main streets in the Old Town.

This may be the best location you can find in Gdansk. Monika‘s apartment is bright and painted in friendly colours, even though the photos shown on airbnb do not reflect the reality of today. They must have been taken some years ago, using a mirror effect to make the living-room look larger. The floor plan is outdated, too. The dishwasher does not work, the washing-machine looks suspicious (a towel wound around the hose (not tight?), and we did not find the tumble drier mentioned in the description. The wooden floor is damaged, some cables and connections are rather makeshift. Kitchen equipment is inadequate: broken knives, not enough metal forks, etc. Not everything is clean. Summing up: the apartment does not correspond to Central-European standards. One last example: When we complained about getting just four towels for the shower, one tiny towel for our hands, and one cloth for drying the dishes and all this for two weeks, Monika told us: This is no hotel, go to the flea-market if you need more. After my protests she became all of a sudden friendly and very helpful (just like her mother). We got what we needed as well as a spare duvet and a blanket when the weather got colder in September. So, in the end, it was O.K.

Response from Monika:
Message from Hartmut: Hello Monika, thank you for being so helpful (please also tell your mother)! My wife nevertheless used the blanket and the duvet brought yesterday because it was quite cold (about 8 degrees C) and raining all the time. We shall wait for your mother's arrival and shall have finished packing by 11 (website hidden) agreed. We would then like to leave 2 suitcases and 1 bag in the storage room (if it can be looked). We would comme back to collect the luggage at 1 p.m. (2 hours later). We hope this is O.K. for you. Kind regards, Hartmut and Gisela 5 days ago
