Comfy bed for better sleep

The room-darkening shades and extra bedding are loved by guests.
Nestled in two giant pine trees at the edge of a 20-acre pond, this true Vermont treehouse features a private cedar hot tub, fire pit, and canoe for exploring the water. Open year-round, it’s perfect for a cozy getaway, romantic retreat, or winter snow adventure, just 5 minutes from downtown Newport and 22 minutes to Jay Peak Ski Resort.

The space
Step into a true Vermont treehouse, cozy and rustic but fully equipped with all the comforts you need. Sip your morning coffee on the private deck overlooking the pond, soak in the custom cedar hot tub while snow drifts quietly around you, or whip up a meal in the mini kitchen before relaxing with a TV show or gathering around the grill. Winter or summer, the hot tub and deck make every season magical.

Explore the 40 acres of forest and wetlands surrounding your treetop retreat. Wander along the pond, hop in the canoe, or take a peaceful nature walk — you never know what wildlife might appear! Guests have spotted moose, deer, bears, turkeys, geese, ducks, eagles, herons, owls, otters, beavers, snapping turtles, painted turtles, fish, and frogs.

Bordering 20 acres of farmland, our gentle cows might wander by to say hello — maybe even accept a little grass if you’re offering!

About 200 feet away, the Osprey Cabin rents to other guests, but you’ll hardly notice each other — a dense forest of trees provides privacy between the two properties. Both treehouse and cabin guests are welcome to enjoy the shared fire pit and garden area, perfect for cozy evenings under the stars or winter nights warmed by the hot tub steam.

Other things to note
Important Note on Wind & Noise:

This is a true treehouse built between two large pine trees, and it is designed to move with them. Because this is a real treehouse experience, you will feel the building move some and may hear loud popping or creaking noises—especially when the wind gets above 12-15 mph. These sounds are even more substantial during the winter when it is really cold out.
While the structure is completely safe, these sounds and movements can be unsettling if you aren’t expecting them. If you are a light sleeper or the noise bothers you, I have provided a fan in the closet that you can use for white noise. Please consider this before booking if you are sensitive to movement or noise, as this is all part of the experience of staying in a real treehouse.

Also, please send us a message if you have any questions.

Neighborhood highlights

Newport is a beautiful town that is growing and it is the gateway between New England and Canada. The city lies on the southern shore of Lake Memphremagog. On the western side of the 30-mile lake rises Owl’s Head. Its 3,360 foot summit offers impressive views.

There is plenty to do and see while visiting. From bicycling, fishing, hiking, paddling, sailing, boating, horseback riding to cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Newport, Vermont is a mecca of outdoor recreation year round.

Newport also has fine great restaurants on the water and artisan local foods for all you foodies out there.

Jay Peak Mountain and Resort is only 17 miles away. You can visit any time of the year. Of course, they have skiing and riding, but all year round they have an indoor water park, ice arena, spa, restaurants, and shopping.

Marilou and I are an easy-going married couple, enjoying life in Vermont with our family. We live in our state for over 30 years and are having the best of our lives here. We love traveling, seeing new places, and especially being in the natural environment, Vermont has that to offer. We are fortunate to live in a state where it is beautiful, peaceful, and the air is fresh on the north country side. The landscape, the lakes, the rivers, and the mountains makes this state desirable for many outdoor activities. This area is perfect for skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, swimming, biking, boating, exploring, snowmobiling, canoeing, and relaxing. In addition, if you are just looking for solitude and perhaps some peacefulness or quiet time, staying at our treehouse or cabin has that to offer. We hope you will be able to come to Vermont and enjoy the natural beauty of this state, gain experience from staying in the treehouse or cabin, and rejuvenate from it all. We enjoy hosting and looking forward to your visit here. Thank you for considering a stay in the Treehouse on Walker Pond or in the Osprey Cabin at the Walker Pond. Your hosts, Andrew and Marilou
