Interaction with Guests
I work late and often so sometimes my guests don't even know I am there. If they need something I am always a phone call, email or text message away. I live in the other bedroom that has its own bathroom so my guests get plenty of privacy in their own bedroom and bathroom.
This neighborhood is quiet and has everything you need with plenty of bars and great restaurants just blocks away. There are running trails along the river and over the bridges into Manhattan. The subway is a few blocks away and can take you to Times Square in only 25 minutes.
There are plenty of buses and the subway to take you anywhere you want to go, as well as taxi thoroughfare straight into Manhattan. Plenty of parking if you have a car or rental car. You can take the subway from JFK airport ($65 by taxi) or the bus and subway from LaGuardia ($10 by taxi) airport or the NJ Trainsit and subway from Newark airport ($85 taxi).
Other Things to Note
I am an amazing host. Just read my reviews. I go out of my way to make my gusts feel welcome and make sure they have a great NYC experience.
Each room has a dedicated heating and air conditioning unit. These units use up a lot of energy so if you are not in the room please turn them off. Keeping the curtains closed and using the fan to circulate air tends to cool of the room quickly as well.
Professional cleaners come every two weeks to clean entire apartment and spare bedroom (this cost is included in rent).
No smoking in room, but smoking on the balcony outside the living room is permitted as long as windows are closed and no butts are left outside.
Two sets of keys are available. Fresh towels and sheets will be supplied. Coin operated laundry machines are in basement as well as extra storage space if needed. Elevators service all floors. Please no drugs or late night parties. Thank you.
Michael was an excellent host. He was flexible and accommodating, incredibly friendly, and his place was spotless (and in a great area of the city). As soon as we arrived, he gave us a very warm welcome and helped us navigate to a dinner reservation we had made (a little too close to our arrival time!). He is full of excellent recommendations both locally and in Manhattan (his restaurant suggestions never failed to disappoint). He generously prepared coffee for us in the morning and offered food/snacks/drinks. He was working most of the time, but he still found time to provide suggestions for our first trip to NYC and even gave us tickets to see a show at Carnegie Hall! We had a wonderful and unforgettable first trip to New York, and the experience of staying in a beautiful area with such an exceptional host is part of what made that experience unforgettable. Thank you Michael!
Michael was our first Airbnb host but it was an excellent experience. From the first moment we felt like being home. He was kind, polite and ready to help in anything we needed. Also his condo is really beautiful. A real pearl in NYC. I can highly recommend his place to anyone who wants a great host and a great place in New York on reasonable price. For sure next time - if we will have an opportunity to visit the city again - Michael's place will be our 1st priority.
Il mio fidanzato ed io ci siamo trovati benissimo! Siamo stati accolti con gentilezza e cortesia! Ci siamo sentiti a nostro agio! Ringraziamo Micheal per tutto!
We have had an amazing airbnb experience with Michael. We stayed at his place for 5 days and met Michael twice during our stay as he was running a marathon over the weekend. His friend Maggie checked us in, showed us the apartment and explained how to get around NY. His place was perfectly clean, fresh towels in the bathroom and a welcome letter on the bed. :) And what a view from the balcony! The location is perfect - very quiet, but still close to the shops, restaurants and subway. Michael recommended us a few places to go and gave us some good tips. He also offered us free tickets to Carnegie Hall, where unfortunately we didn't have time to go to :( We loved the basket with the granola bars in our room! There were also umbrellas in the closet, which we found very useful as well as a scale to weight our luggage before leaving to the airport. He kindly let us to check out later in the afternoon as no one was arriving on that day, so we didn't have to rush with the packing. Overall Michael was the great host and made us feel like home! We would definitely stay with Michael again.
I stayed six days with Michael and very much appreciate his great hospitality. He went out of his way to ensure my stay was comfortable and that I had everything I needed. His great condo is centrally located with lots of restaurants and the train close by. His guest room is so quiet and comfortable that I ended up sleeping way too much. Whether you have been to NYC many times or are new to the city, Michael is the perfect host.
Michael was great with us : carrying our travel bags up and downstairs for check-in and check-out, letting us use his piano, giving us good advice (restaurants and bars, things to see, best way to drive out of the city). Moreover the apartment is very comfortable.
We loved it, and we also loved the visit of Carnegie Hall. If we can go back to NYC, we'll try to come back to the same place ! (maybe without a car this time... or we will study better American road signs before coming). In only 2 days we almost felt like real New-Yorkers !
Michael was an awesome host! We felt right at home the moment we walked through the door. It was our fist time in Astoria and he recommended some delicious spots to grab a late night dinner at when we arrived. The location was perfect and really easy to get to the subway to be in downtown Manhattan in minutes. Amazing apartment with an even more amazing host!
