  • Beautiful location, fair price for the quality and great service from the owners. This location is so unique and rare. It is the best house in the area and has the best ocean access. I could tell that the swimmers at the local beach were envious! The decor is charming and the views are spectacular. We were lucky to have access to both swimming areas, including the one that is reserved for Apt 1 which is really great and has a flat rock beach to lay out on. We could not find another house to rent near the city of Porto Santo Stefano where you could walk to town each day unless the walk was very steep. The walk from the villa into town is very pleasant and instead of a hill it is a gentle slope. I think we actually lost weight despite eating pasta and pizza every day. You may want to rent a car to explore the area but you don't have to. Marcella and her father were very responsive to all our requests and wonderful hosts. There is a book in the apt that tells more details and it is very helpful to read. Helpful to know from reading this book that the hot water needs to be turned on before taking a shower and that the switch is in the bathroom. We saved so much by cooking at home for breakfast and some lunches but especially by buying our own wine and campari to make spritz ourselves. I don't think we spent any more than we would have spent at home. Renting this place for the week makes this a very economical vacation all while being in a very glamorous spot on the mediterranean. We would definitely rent this place again.

  • Me and my boyfriend had a wonderful week at Marcellas lovely Beach House in Porto Santo Stefano in August 2013. This old house is beautifully located on a cape, 10 min walk to the town. The flat we rented had a wonderful terrace with a view over the bay where we had breakfast every day and Marcella and her family were very welcome and helpful both before and during our holiday. We mainly spent the days at the beach of Feniglia, the island of Giglio and spent a day in Scansano in Tuscany which we higly recommend. You have several good restaurants in town, our favourites are L'Osteria del Porto le Chicche and da Orlando, recommend that you book table before hand especially in peak season. We were extremely happy with our holiday in Porto Santo Stefano and would happily go back and rent Marcella's flat again.

  • We had a wonderful vacation in Porto Santo Stefano at Marcella's apartment. The apartment has truly gorgeous views of the sea. It was wonderful to hear the gentle waves throughout the day. The private access to the sea is something truly special (and to be valued on the bustling Italian coast). We and our kids loved being able to climb straight down to the water from the apartment and having a private cove to swim from! In addition, the location is just a short 10 minute stroll to the center of town, where we frequented pizzerias, gelaterias, and sea food restaurants.

For those (like us) traveling from overseas, Marcella's place was a fantastic location as well. It is a short 1.5 hour drive from Rome FCO airport. It allowed us to combine a visit to Rome, with a seaside vacation from where we were also able to visit Siena and Pisa. The Argentario penninsula also has a lot to offer. A highlight was travelling the coast in a rented boat and exploring and swimming in gorgeous coves.

The apartment itself was comfortable for a family of 4 (kids 9 and 11) for a longer stay of a week. A nice sea breeze keeps the apt cool, whereas shutters keep out early morning light. It has a kitchen and a washing machine. It also has parking (although one challenge is getting the pass from the municipality to traverse the downtown pedestrian area after 7pm).

Marcella was a wonderful host. She was happy to give tips and recommendations and addressed any needs we had. Although we spoke a lot in Italian, her English is very good.

We were very happy to spend most of our Italian (indeed European!) holiday at Marcella's place in Porto Santo Stefano. We hope we can go back and visit someday soon.

About
I am happy to open my home to guests and to share with them a quiet and relaxing place, a welcoming haven, where they can plan their visits, from which to explore the wonders of the region and to rest after long walks and hikes to explore the beautiful Italy. I like to play sports, especially if they bring me in contact with nature such as cycling, sailing, long walks. I love animals. For my training as a restorer of works of art I love historical places and safeguarded them with respect and attention. My passion and my hobby is now working with old everyday objects to bring them to life and even to a different function, mixing a little card. When I can cut the time for myself between work and family, I love to read and listen to good music.
