The Space

Our "treehouse" apartment sits amongst a beautiful grove of trees offering inviting privacy and shade. It is a separate structure from the main house on a half acre wooded lot in central/NW Austin in the Highland Park West neighborhood. There is a private entrance and driveway with off street parking. The apartment is located above a garage structure built in 2007 offering the quality of new construction with vintage charm.

The Highland Park West neighborhood is north of central downtown about 5 miles or only about 10 minutes due to very easy access to Mopac at the 45th St entrance a 1/4 mile away. Our property is adjacent to the Camp Mabry facility on the north side.

Our area features beautiful tree lined streets, well kept yards, and a very friendly vibe. Russell's bakery and coffee shop are within short walking distance along with Perry Park which has great walking trails and tennis courts.

The apartment is a fully functioning residential living space, making it absolutely ideal for both short term or longer term stays of a week or more. There are three rooms: A main room with a modern kitchen, a 2 person dining table, 2 bar stools and a generous living area with a long couch. There is a completely separate bedroom with drawer space and a queen size bed with an organic mattress. The bathroom has a standard size tub/shower, a stackable washer/dryer and a closet. Linens and towels are provided.

The kitchen has a full size electric stove and cooktop, a full size refrigerator, microwave, 4 cup coffee pot, toaster, and basic cooking/serving items including flatware, cups and plates.

The shower is supplied with shampoo, conditioner, and liquid body soap.

The apartment has a television with a built in DVD player, but no cable. Wireless internet is provided.

We do have a 2 night minimum stay. Friday and Saturday night rates are slightly higher.

We look forward to hosting you!

  • My wife and I decided to take our honeymoon, in Austin, and we couldn't have been more happy to choose Jeff's Treehouse. My wife and I were out most of the time, at a convention, or exploring the city, but when we came back it felt like home. Every day when we returned there were 2 deer relaxing in the shade by the driveway. The interior is taken care of very well, and there are plenty of amenities for anyone staying to take advantage of. If you are a cheeper traveler, there is a bus stop to downtown close by. Which we used every day. The area is beautiful to walk through, and feels very safe. Whenever we crossed paths with one of the locals in the area, they were very polite and helpful. Jeff was a very helpful host, he answered all of our questions, made sure we were comfortable during our stay. We are coming back to Austin next year for sure, and Jeff's hospitality really helped us make that choice.

  • This beautiful "treetreat" was even better than we'd anticipated! Jeff was prompt and helpful in his communication and even allowed us to stay an extra night with very little notice. My husband is very frugal and was going to try to find an even lower cost for a hotel by his conference, but we both loved this space so much that he changed his mind!

The interior is beautifully decorated with a fun mix of vintage and modern, and the entire space was impeccably clean. The apartment is surrounded on all sides by trees, so it honestly feels like you're perched up in them, with beautiful views and the sound of birds as you wake up in the morning.

The location was fantastic, and perfectly situated for us. I was here for a conference by the Domain and my husband for a conference just south of the river, and we were both able to easily access everything on Mopac, but it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere - the perfect combo! We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Austin.

  • Had a great stay at the Treehouse in Austin. Jeff is responsive and the location is perfect. Half way to downtown and half way to north side. The apartment was well appointed, clean and quiet. If you are familiar with Austin's traffic you will understand when i say that this location helps mitigate the hassles of gridlock and getting around the city. I will definitely stay at the treehouse again.

  • My husband and I had a great week at Jeff's place. Super location, where you can get to anywhere in Austin without using the dreaded freeways ("parking lots"). Quiet residential neighborhood, where we saw deer very close by several nights! House back to a dead end; super peaceful! The "Treehouse" is technically above a garage, but the garage is only used for storage, so we didn't hear cars going in and out (which was something that I thought might be a downside). The place is very well appointed, with excellent air conditioning ( a must for Austin). I have to cook on vacation because of my food allergy, so I really appreciated the full size fridge, stove, and microwave in the very functional little galley kitchen.

After sleeping there the first night, I told Jeff I was having trouble with the bed, due to arthritis in my hip (bed is firm, which is good for many, but bad for me). Jeff responded right away, bringing over a foam mattress topper which worked like a charm. He also helped us by bringing maps of the city over, and giving us some advice on driving around the city. Because we didn't ask for any more help, that was the last we saw of Jeff, which was fine; he and his family live in the main house, but it really feels like the Treehouse is completely separate and totally private. I'm sure if we needed any more help, Jeff would have been there to help.

All in all, we recommend the Treehouse to anybody visiting Austin who wants a central location without being too close to either the noisy bar life of Austin's 6th Street or the bustling campus of UT. For peace and qu9iet, you can't beat it. Plus, you can get anywhere in Austin from Jeff's place in about 15 minutes!

  • We had a great time staying at the Treehouse apartment. It was on a quiet and secluded street but with easy access to the highway. Jeff (email hidden) and very responsive. Would definitely stay here again when traveling in Austin.

  • Enjoyed our short stay at the Treehouse. It is indeed a cute little apartment in the trees. We got in late and did not see Jeff, but he was very responsive over phone/text. As others have said, it is in a quiet neighborhood, and there are no drapes in the main room. (email hidden) to stay in Austin!

  • The 'Treehouse' is cool. It's quiet, lots of windows, and has a full kitchen. I was able to relax and get some work done. It'll definitely stay there again if and when I get back to Austin.

  • This is a wonderful quiet apartment. Ideally located and larger than it seems in the photos. Great place for some peace and quiet but good access to Austin.
