A house with good standard in the countryside. It easily fits ten and have a nice outdoor kitchen/dining space. Indoor you can relax in the sauna. You will have acres around the house for yourself. There is a little stream with trouts. Catch em?
4 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, living room and a sauna. In addition we have a outdoor kitchen with gas and wood fired pizza oven and a sitting place with a big table. Any type of heating is included in the rent. Inside there is a wood fire stove. In the sauna there is a wood fired stove.
This is a house where you do what you like your self. You make your own food and even can catch it if you're lucky.
This is a place to relax and be in the nature. Perfect to just sit outside watching the Northern lights fly over the sky.
The house do have a boat that is available for those who rent the house. This is a 12' boat perfect for fishing and includes the fishing equipment (just for the summer time).
Some of my guests also have reminded me that this is a perfect area for those interested in photo.
The complete house is for the guests disposition, except for the storage room in the basement.
I will normally not be at the site when guests arrive so direct communication is done by my local host. All guests will be meet by the local host. I'm normally online any time, except for the night, so I try to answer any question immediately.
The area under 'The Lyngen Alps' (Lyngsalpene) are popular both for winter and summer vacations. In the darker months in mid winter you can view the 'Northern Lights' (Aurora Borealis). When the dark wither is turning more over to longer days the skiers appears in the spectacular mountains surrounding the house.
There is a restaurant/bar that have a seasonal opening hours. There is a local grocery store in 10min away.
In winter the local Husky Farm can give you a ride into the mountains behind a sled or you can go horseback riding.
'Northern Light Dog Adventure' is my neighbour where you can book you dogsled tour with Thomas.
In the summer you need to try the good fishing opportunities in the area. Fishing in lakes, rivers, creeks and the fjord is very popular. Go pick your own mussels on low tide.
There is an ancient "Sami Church" that is situated under a big rock formed as a church.
Between the house and the city center there are 3 bus connections per day.
The local host will help to bring you to the grocery store for little fee.
The international airport in Tromsø is just 73 km away. The train station in Narvik is just above 2 hours drive away.
If you stay in a summer weekend you may rent a larger boat with skipper for taking the bigger fish in the fjord. The last few years have the number of halibut increased greatly. So watch out for halibut of 100 kg and above.

Really nice house at the country side. The house is well equipped and we have everything we need to feel at home. We were surrounded by awesome mountains and it is a really beautiful place to stay. The hour drive to the house hardly feels long as the scenery along the way is breath taking. I will recommend a stay here to have a break from the city and enjoy the tranquility of the country side.
We were hoping to be out “in the middle of nowhere” and House Roluu certainly met that objective. The location is absolutely stunning, with views of the Lyngen Alps from every window, plenty of walking opportunities from the front door, and if you’re lucky the possibility of seeing the Aurora Borealis from your very own ’garden’ without any light pollution.
The house is comfortable, warm & cosy, and has all the facilities you’d need. We did not take advantage of the sauna, but that is a nice additional feature to have for those cold Northern Norwegian days. As mentioned in some other reviews, it is an old house, the fixtures are dated, the electrical connections in the living room are a bit messy, and in general there is some clutter. But everything worked just fine, and we very much enjoyed our stay.
We did not meet Øystein, as his friendly neighbours Thomas and Anne are his local representatives / caretakers, but in all communications he was friendly and quick to respond. His directions to the house (from Tromsø) are easy to follow, and it is one of the more spectacular routes that we’ve ever driven. House Roluu is an excellent base for exploring the striking scenery of the Lyngen Alps – tusen takk Øystein!
Bellissima casa spaziosa e vissuta. Eravamo un gruppo di amici e siamo stati benissimo. In casa non manca nulla. A differenza di altre case anche d'inverno si arriva con l'auto fino alla porta d'entrata. Oystein è gentilissimo e molto disponibile.
Location Location Location. If your after peace and quiet with stunning views and watch the Northern Lights from the door then this house fits the bill. If your expecting 5 star it's not, it's an old house in the country, but, that said it has everything you need, and it is warm and comfortable. Oystien takes time to answer all your question, and could not be more helpful. If you do go to do a Husky ride with Thomas up the road, this is the real deal!! and not for the faint hearted tourist, Thomas and his family are lovely and also very friendly.
The chalet is well furnished and very clean ! It is located in an amazing place between mountains and lakes. The sauna is large enough to welcome 8 persons.
We spent four great days there. Thank you very much.
Wonderful location, exactly what I wanted. The neighbors were very nice, the place is very quiet and comfortable (and warm!), and Oystein was very responsive whenever I had questions or concerns.
Could not recommend this place enough!
First, I have to write that Oystein was very helpfull and patient answering all questions before our arriving. We were 8 living in his house, quite comfortable. Everything was as he describe at his profile-house is well equipped. It was a little bit cold upstairs after our arriving but portable electric heaters quickly changed it. Once we used sauna - it was perfect after a frosty day outdoor. During all our 3 nights we saw the northern lights but the best part of our stay was a dog sledging with Oystein neighbour, Thomas. His dogs are lovely and he is a responsible professional. Thomas and his wife Anne were also Oysteins house caretakers. They cared very well about us and were a good companion during an evening. Their open-heartedness denials stereotype pattern of withdrawn Scandinavians :-)
We had a wonderful time at Øystein's house! The place is beautiful and for those who dream of wilderness, you won't be disappointed! We saw the Northern lights in front of the house for three nights ! Awesome shows! you just need a clear sky! I recommend to those who like to take pictures ! ( a good camera (type slr ) is much better for the Northern lights )
Øystein was present every time we needed ! His house is very pleasant and equipped as it should. The sauna is really welcome even if it takes time to heat it !
You just need to know the house is a little bit lost in the countryside so a car is obligatory.. mainly if you want to discover the region.
I can't forgot to say that the neighbors, anna and thomas, are lovely people and if you want to do dogsledding during your trip, you have to go and see them!
We had a really good time there, and the cabin is really nice!
If you want to visit Tromso and see the Northern Light, you cannot miss this!
