This is a house where you do what you like your self. You make your own food and even can catch it if you're lucky.
This is a place to relax and be in the nature. Perfect to just sit outside watching the Northern lights fly over the sky.
The house do have a boat that is available for those who rent the house. This is a 12' boat perfect for fishing and includes the fishing equipment (just for the summer time).
Some of my guests also have reminded me that this is a perfect area for those interested in photo.

Guest access

The complete house is for the guests disposition, except for the storage room in the basement.

Interaction with guests

I will normally not be at the site when guests arrive so f-2-f communication is done by my local host. All guests will be meet by the local host. I'm normally online any time, except for the night, so I try to answer any question immediately.

The neighborhood

The area under 'The Lyngen Alps' (Lyngsalpene) are popular both for winter and summer vacations. In the darker months in mid winter you can view the 'Northern Lights' (Aurora Borealis). When the dark wither is turning more over to longer days the skiers appears in the spectacular mountains surrounding the house.

There is a restaurant/bar that have a seasonal opening hours. There is a local grocery store in 10min away.
In winter the local Husky Farm can give you a ride into the mountains behind a sled or you can go horseback riding.
'Northern Light Dog Adventure' is my neighbour where you can book you dogsled tour with Thomas.
In the summer you need to try the good fishing opportunities in the area. Fishing in lakes, rivers, creeks and the fjord is very popular. Go pick your own mussels on low tide.
There is an ancient "Sami Church" that is situated under a big rock formed as a church.

Getting around

Between the house and the city center there are 3 bus connections per day.
The local host will help to bring you to the grocery store for little fee.
The international airport in Tromsø is just 73 km away. The train station in Narvik is just above 2 hours drive away.

Other things to note

If you stay in a summer weekend you may rent a larger boat with skipper for taking the bigger fish in the fjord. The last few years have the number of halibut increased greatly. So watch out for halibut of 100 kg and above.

Nice place for a group of eight. There's enough of space, nice stereos and sauna is a pleasure. The area is just perfect for skitouring in steep terrain. I have stayed in the cabin several times and it has had improvements almost yearly.

This place is really great, a paradise on earth. Surrounded by mountains, close to the fjords.. The house is quite big, with a nice living room and everything as described. I recommend!

I stayed with my friends in Oysteins house for almost 2 weeks in early february and it was one of the best trips I ever made :-) We went there to see the northern lights and Oysteins house proved to be the perfect place for such an undertaking. It is located in a remote valley with almost no population and therefore no light polution, so you can see the northern lights just outside the house! It is very cozy, fully equiped with everything you need for a longer visit and offers enough space for at least 4 people, and if it is very cold outside you make a fire in the oven and it gets very warm in the living room :-) The sauna is in the basement and you can run out directly from the sauna outside and cool down in more than half a meter of snow^^ We never meet Oystein himself but he was a great host, communication was easy and he prepared some food in the fridge for our arrival.

We had a fabulous time at Oystein's house. Everything was ready for our arrival, with the beds made, clean towels and firewood for the fireplace and sauna. Communication with oystein was efficient and he was very responsive. It was easy to drive there from Tromso even in the dark. When we drove back we realised what a lovely drive it is. The scenery is absolutely stunning with snowy mountains just outside the window. We went dog sledding with Tomas from northern lights dog sledding which was great. We took our young 10month old son and it was no problem at all, in fact Anne Catrine (Tomas's wife) was especially doting. We also loved the sauna. I highly recommend Oystein's house.

I'm from Norway, work for a high tech company in Norway. Enjoy playing golf all over the world. And, off cause I like Italian wine (Barbaresco is the favorite) and the Italian food. I do ride my bike in the woods around Trondheim.
In winter time I like skiing both cross country and backcountry.
